The Crew Motorfest is worth considering on Nintendo Switch 2 if you want an open-world driving game in Hawaii and are comfortable with a permanently connected, account-based experience. It is a poor fit for offline play, a complete physical game that works without downloading, or buyers expecting full crossplay and transferred purchases from another platform.
The best edition depends on the content you actually want. The base game is the safest starting point. Deluxe adds two fitted cosmetic packs and associated vehicles, while Headliners adds the Tomb Raider, Chase Squad and RC Frenzy packs as well as both fitted packs. Because current regional prices and discounts are not established here, no edition can be called the best value solely from its name.

What The Crew Motorfest is on Switch 2
The Switch 2 version is an online open-world driving game set across an evolving Hawaii. Nintendo’s US product listing describes thematic playlists, player-versus-environment and player-versus-player activities, and a vehicle roster of more than 700 vehicles. Those are publisher and store-listing claims, not independent audits.
The game supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes. Nintendo lists single-system play for one player and online play for one to 32 players. That makes it primarily a solo-with-online-services or online-multiplayer purchase rather than a local split-screen game.

Ubisoft announced the Switch 2 release for October 8, 2026, in both physical retail and Nintendo eShop formats. The physical product is a Game-Key Card: the card does not contain a complete, independently playable installation. You must download the game, and the game remains dependent on an internet connection.
Ubisoft’s Switch 2 FAQ states that the game runs at 1080p and 30 FPS in both TV and handheld modes. This is an official specification translated from Ubisoft’s German-language FAQ, not an independent frame-rate test. If you are deciding between platforms on the basis of performance, treat 1080p/30 FPS as the advertised target rather than a measured result.
Nintendo lists the game file size as 58.5 GB. Actual storage use can change with updates and downloadable content, so buyers of the Game-Key Card edition should have substantially more free space than the listed initial size before starting installation.
The core appeal is breadth: a large vehicle collection, rotating playlists, competitive events and a map intended to grow through seasons. The trade-off is that access, progression and much of the social feature set are tied to Ubisoft and Nintendo online services.
Requirements that can make or break the purchase
Constant internet access
Ubisoft explicitly states, “An online connection is required to play the game.” This applies to the Switch 2 release as a basic access condition, not merely to optional competitive modes. If your Switch 2 is often used where connectivity is unavailable or unreliable, do not buy Motorfest expecting an offline campaign.

A Ubisoft account
Ubisoft requires a Ubisoft account. Plan to create or sign in to that account during setup and keep access to its email and recovery method. Account linking is part of the ownership and progression experience, so a Nintendo account alone is not the complete requirement.
Nintendo Switch Online for multiplayer features
Nintendo’s listing indicates Nintendo Switch Online support. Ubisoft specifies that an NSO membership is needed for multiplayer features such as crewing, Grand Race and Demolition Royale. The game’s always-connected requirement and the NSO requirement are separate: the former governs access to the game, while the latter applies to the named multiplayer functions.

Storage and download planning
The 58.5 GB listing is large for a portable console. A Game-Key Card purchase still needs a download, and subsequent seasons or DLC may require additional space. Check free storage before redeeming the card or beginning the eShop download, and allow time for installation if your connection is slow.
Physical Game-Key Card or digital purchase?
| Format | What you receive | Important consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Physical Game-Key Card | A retail package containing a key card that authorizes the Switch 2 version | The game must be downloaded and requires the stated online connection; it is not a complete offline cartridge |
| Nintendo eShop version | A digital license and download | No card to store or resell; you still need the download, account setup and online access |
Choose the Game-Key Card if you specifically want a boxed product or a retailer’s price is better. Choose digital if immediate access and avoiding a physical card matter more. In either case, verify the regional listing, stock, edition name and price before paying. The physical format does not remove the download or online-service requirements.
Edition comparison: Base, Deluxe and Headliners
| Edition | Official inclusions | Who it suits | What is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base game | The Crew Motorfest | Players who want the core game and prefer to decide on extras later | No current price-to-content comparison is established |
| Deluxe Edition | Base game plus the Fitted Ultimate Pack: Fitted Rainbow and Fitted Jungle packs. Nintendo’s listing names a 2021 Honda Civic Type R Fitted Edition, a 2021 Porsche 718 Spyder Fitted Edition, avatar outfit packs, an underglow vanity and unique rims. | Players who specifically want the listed fitted cosmetics and vehicles | The available material does not establish a price premium or that the bundle saves money |
| Headliners Edition | Base game, Tomb Raider Pack, Chase Squad Pack, RC Frenzy Pack, Fitted Rainbow Pack and Fitted Jungle Pack | Players who want all three named gameplay/content packs plus the fitted cosmetics | Value depends on the live regional price compared with buying only the packs you want |
When the Base game is the sensible choice
Buy the Base edition when you are mainly interested in the open-world driving, playlists and standard vehicle collection. It avoids paying for content before you know whether Motorfest’s connected structure suits you. You can then compare the price of individual packs or passes later, subject to their availability on Switch 2.

When Deluxe makes sense
Deluxe is a cosmetics-and-vehicles decision. Its distinguishing content is the Fitted Ultimate Pack, including the named Honda Civic Type R and Porsche 718 Spyder fitted editions, outfits, underglow and rims. It does not include the three headline gameplay packs bundled in Headliners. Select it only when those fitted items are important to you and the live price difference is acceptable.

Headliners is the broadest of the three named launch editions. It combines the two fitted packs with Tomb Raider, Chase Squad and RC Frenzy. It is the logical bundle for someone who already wants those three packs; it is not automatically the best deal for a player interested in only one of them. Compare the current Headliners price with the Base game plus the specific packs you would otherwise purchase.
Switch 2 DLC and season availability
Passes and packs available at launch
Ubisoft states that the Year 1 Pass, Year 2 Pass, Year 3 Pass, Chase Squad, RC Frenzy and Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau packs were available on Switch 2 from release. These launch-era statements describe availability around October 8, 2026; store menus and prices can change.
Year 4 Pass and vehicle packs
Ubisoft stated that the Year 4 Pass and vehicle packs were not available at launch, with possible later availability to be announced. Do not buy an edition or pass on the assumption that these items are already obtainable on Switch 2. Check the current Nintendo and Ubisoft listings at the time of purchase.
Season 11 and the Kauai content
Season 11 began October 7, 2026. Ubisoft describes a free Kauai island and a Kauai Expeditions playlist, along with wildlife, special events and winch/towing features introduced through season updates.

The free island’s visibility does not itself grant access to the playable premium DLC experience; access depends on owning the relevant pack or edition.
Progression, crossplay and purchases across platforms
Cross-progression
Ubisoft supports cross-progression, allowing supported progress to continue across platforms when the relevant accounts are linked. This is useful if you move between a Switch 2 and another supported platform and want your progression available rather than starting from zero.
Purchases do not transfer
Ubisoft states that purchases made on Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store or Steam do not transfer to Switch 2. Owning a pass, vehicle or cosmetic on another platform therefore does not give you that same entitlement on Nintendo’s console. Budget for Switch 2 purchases separately.
No full crossplay
The Switch 2 version does not offer full crossplay. Ubisoft says selected activities and leaderboards are shared across platforms, and TrackForge creations can be available across platforms, but that is not the same as unrestricted multiplayer matchmaking with every other platform.

No The Crew 2 collection import

What the advertised specifications mean in practice
| Specification | Official figure or statement | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p and 30 FPS in TV and handheld modes, according to Ubisoft’s FAQ | A publisher specification; independent testing was not established |
| Vehicle count | More than 700 vehicles, according to Nintendo’s US listing | A listed content count, not an independently audited total |
| Initial file size | 58.5 GB, according to Nintendo’s US listing | Reserve more space for updates and DLC |
| Online players | 1–32, according to Nintendo’s US listing | Describes listed online capacity, not local multiplayer |
| Local system play | One player | Do not expect local split-screen competition |
The 30 FPS specification may be perfectly acceptable if you value portability, the Hawaii setting and the game’s breadth more than a higher refresh rate. It may be a deal-breaker if your priority is a 60 FPS driving experience. Since no independent Switch 2 performance test is established here, use the official number as the limit of what can be promised.
A practical buying decision
- Confirm the always-connected requirement fits your use. If you need an offline game, stop at this step and choose something else.
- Check account readiness. Make sure you can use a Ubisoft account and your Nintendo account, and that you can complete the required linking.
- Calculate storage. Reserve space beyond the listed 58.5 GB for installation, patches and any DLC you plan to add.
- Decide whether multiplayer matters. For crewing, Grand Race and Demolition Royale, include the cost and availability of Nintendo Switch Online.
- Choose a format. Select Game-Key Card for a boxed purchase, understanding that it still requires a download, or select eShop for a direct digital license.
- Choose the edition by content. Pick Base for the core game, Deluxe for the fitted packs and their listed vehicles and cosmetics, or Headliners for those fitted packs plus Tomb Raider, Chase Squad and RC Frenzy.
- Check the live listing. Confirm the US or other regional price, discount, stock, edition name and current DLC availability immediately before checkout.
- Account for previous purchases. If you own Motorfest content on another platform, assume you will need to buy it again for Switch 2 unless the current store explicitly says otherwise.
Who should buy it?
Good fit
- You want a large, open-world driving game set in Hawaii.
- You enjoy rotating playlists, PvE and PvP events, and a broad vehicle roster.
- You normally play with a reliable internet connection.
- You are comfortable using a Ubisoft account and, for named multiplayer activities, Nintendo Switch Online.
- You accept the advertised 1080p/30 FPS specification and do not require full crossplay.
- You are willing to manage a download of at least the listed 58.5 GB and additional update space.
Poor fit
- You need a game that works offline or without a Ubisoft account.
- You expect a physical cartridge to contain the complete game.
- You want purchases from Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store or Steam to carry over automatically.
- You require unrestricted cross-platform matchmaking.
- You are buying mainly for The Crew 2 collection import, which is unavailable on Switch 2.
- You will be disappointed by a publisher-stated 30 FPS cap in both TV and handheld modes.
Is it worth buying?
There is no responsible universal value verdict without a current regional price, discount information and independent performance testing. The evidence supports a conditional recommendation instead.
Buy the Base game if you want to try the core Motorfest experience with the least commitment. Choose Deluxe when the Fitted Rainbow and Fitted Jungle content, including the listed fitted vehicles and cosmetics, is central to your purchase. Choose Headliners when you genuinely want Tomb Raider, Chase Squad and RC Frenzy in addition to both fitted packs and the live bundle price compares favorably with separate purchases.
For every edition, treat the persistent online connection, Ubisoft account, download-based physical format, 1080p/30 FPS specification, non-transferable purchases and lack of full crossplay as purchase conditions rather than minor footnotes. If those conditions suit how you play, Motorfest has a credible Switch 2 use case: a portable-accessible, continually updated Hawaii driving world with a substantial advertised vehicle lineup. If they do not, the edition question is irrelevant because the platform version itself is the wrong fit.
