The CORSAIR MP600 ELITE is a PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 2280 SSD family with 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities and three cooling configurations. Its main advantages are high manufacturer-rated sequential speeds, PCIe 3.0 backward compatibility, and the choice of a bare drive or heatsink-equipped version. The main cautions: rated speeds depend on the host and workload, endurance varies by capacity, and the cooling configuration must suit the device you plan to install it in.
What does the MP600 ELITE name include?
CORSAIR describes the MP600 ELITE as an NVMe 1.4 drive using 3D TLC NAND in the M.2 2280 form factor. The family includes 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, but the name covers different physical configurations:

Several cooling configurations
Having bare and heatsink-equipped options lets you choose based on the cooling already present in your PC or console. A bare drive may suit a motherboard with a compatible M.2 heatsink; a fitted heatsink can be useful when the host lacks suitable cooling, provided it physically fits.

High stated sequential speeds
CORSAIR rates the family for up to 7,000MB/s sequential reads and 6,500MB/s sequential writes. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently reproduced benchmark results. CORSAIR notes that performance depends on the host platform, usage, and other variables, so treat the figures as peak ratings rather than a promise for every system or task. Backward compatibility with PCIe 3.0
CORSAIR says the drive can be used in PCIe 3.0 systems. It is rated for PCIe 4.0 x4, however, and CORSAIR cautions that a Gen 3 system will not reach the family’s stated Gen 4 maximum sequential throughput.

SSD management tools and a five-year warranty
CORSAIR lists support for SSD Toolbox, including secure erase and firmware updates, and a five-year warranty. These are manufacturer-provided features and do not establish a measured reliability rate. CORSAIR’s launch announcement also describes the warranty.
What are the cons and buying cautions?
Actual speeds depend on the platform and workload
The headline sequential ratings do not tell you how the drive will perform in every computer or application. Host platform and usage affect performance, and a Gen 3 connection cannot deliver the advertised Gen 4 maximum. The cited CORSAIR materials do not establish how the MP600 ELITE compares with competing drives in independent tests.

The bare version has no additional heatsink
If you choose the bare drive, check whether the motherboard or device provides suitable M.2 cooling. Conversely, do not assume a fitted heatsink will fit every slot or system: verify clearance and the exact product configuration first.
Endurance is capacity-specific
CORSAIR gives an “up to 1,200TBW” family figure, but that maximum should not be applied to every capacity or version. For example, CORSAIR lists 600TBW for its 1TB PS5 model. Check the specification for the exact SKU rather than using the family maximum as a universal rating. The figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent reliability findings.

The PS5 claims are manufacturer claims
CORSAIR identifies a low-profile heatsink-equipped version for PS5 and PS5 Pro use and says it exceeds Sony’s M.2 performance requirements. Those statements come from CORSAIR; confirm the exact drive and installation requirements for your console before purchase. The 1TB product page is specifically for the MP600 ELITE 1TB PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe 1.4 M.2 SSD for PS5.
Which MP600 ELITE configuration should you consider?
- For a desktop or laptop with its own compatible M.2 cooling: consider whether the bare drive fits your system and cooling setup.
- For a system without suitable M.2 cooling: look at a heatsink-equipped version, after checking physical clearance and compatibility.
- For a PS5 installation: identify the PS5-oriented heatsink version and verify its capacity and current console requirements.
- For any capacity: check the SKU’s endurance rating, not just the family-level maximum.
When comparing the MP600 ELITE with another SSD, compare the exact capacity and endurance, interface and host support, heatsink fit, rated speeds and their test conditions, warranty terms, and current price. The cited CORSAIR pages do not establish competitor performance or current pricing, so they are not enough to support a value or ranking claim.
