What the EGF-1800 offers for the premium
The current model covered here is BALMUDA The GreenFan EGF-1800. BALMUDA’s 2023 announcement says its specifications did not change from the EGF-1700. The Taiwan product specification page lists four airflow settings, a one-to-four-hour timer, and horizontal oscillation up to 75 degrees in each direction. The fan can be tilted manually 19 degrees upward or 11 degrees downward. BALMUDA lists a maximum airflow reach of 15 metres; that is a maker specification, not an independent finding that a particular room will feel comfortable at that distance.

In standing configuration, the listed dimensions are 330 × 320 × 871 mm; in table configuration, the height is 497 mm. The listed weight is approximately 4.1 kg. Those details may help determine whether the fan fits your space, but they do not by themselves establish its value at a premium price. BALMUDA lists a minimum operating-noise figure of 13 dB, measured at one metre in an anechoic chamber. That is a specific laboratory condition and a minimum figure, not a promise that the fan will produce 13 dB at every speed or in an ordinary bedroom. Room acoustics, background noise, distance, and speed all affect what you hear.

The manufacturer also lists power consumption of 1.5–20 W. Actual use depends on the selected setting. That low-power range may appeal if you run a fan for long periods, but it is not evidence by itself of lower total ownership cost: electricity rates and usage vary, and the available information does not provide a same-conditions energy comparison with other fans.
BALMUDA attributes the fan’s broad, soft airflow to its dual-structure blade design. “Natural breeze” is a product description rather than an objective performance standard. If comfort is the deciding factor, judge the airflow where you actually sit or sleep and at the speed you expect to use. The Taiwan specification page states the measurement conditions for the noise figure and the listed power range.

Does $400 reflect the current U.S. price?
The sources available do not verify current U.S. pricing, official U.S. availability, or U.S. warranty and repair terms for the EGF-1800. So $400 should not be presented as a confirmed current U.S. price. BALMUDA’s Taiwan shop showed NT$9,990 for white/black and white/gray variants and NT$11,990 for limited colors when crawled; its Japanese product page displayed ¥39,600. These are regional listings, not evidence of a U.S. price, and currency conversion alone would not establish a U.S. delivered cost or support arrangement.

What owner feedback can—and cannot—tell you
Individual EGF-1800 owner reviews on Kakaku.com are mixed: some reviewers praise quiet operation and comfortable airflow, while others question the value, perceived build quality, or repair cost. These are self-selected reports, not a representative survey. They cannot establish how often the fan fails, typical repair prices, or what most owners think of its value. One Japanese hands-on blog published in August 2026 describes its author’s experience with the EGF-1800 and battery accessory, but one reviewer’s account is not a controlled test or a typical-use guarantee.

When the Battery&Dock accessory makes sense
BALMUDA Taiwan lists the Battery&Dock EGF-P100 as compatible with the EGF-1800, among other products. The manufacturer describes cordless operation and estimates runtimes of 20 hours at speed 1, 17 hours at speed 2, 6.5 hours at speed 3, and 1.5 hours at speed 4. Those are maker estimates for the listed regional accessory, not guaranteed runtimes for every battery or version. BALMUDA’s page notes that speed-4 operation is limited to certain 2021 batteries and the EGF-1700/1800.
The accessory is most relevant if you have a specific need to move the fan away from an outlet. If you will use it in one place beside a power source, cordless operation may not add enough value to justify another purchase. Check the accessory’s local compatibility, included battery, and regional terms before buying. BALMUDA Taiwan’s Battery&Dock page gives the compatibility and runtime estimates.

A practical way to decide
At the price you are actually offered, compare the GreenFan with alternatives available in your market using the conditions that matter in your home—not appearance or a single headline specification alone.
- Total cost and support: Confirm the delivered price, warranty, return window, and repair route for the exact unit.
- Comfort at your distance: If possible, assess low-speed noise and airflow at the distance where you will sit or sleep, then consider whether the higher settings provide enough airflow for your room.
- Running use: Consider the listed 1.5–20 W range alongside your likely speed and operating hours; do not assume a particular bill saving without comparing local electricity costs and another fan’s consumption under comparable use.
- Fit and controls: Decide whether the footprint, table-height configuration, tilt, timer, and oscillation suit your space and routine.
- Cordless need: Add the Battery&Dock only if moving the fan without a cord is useful enough to justify its separate cost.
No controlled, same-room comparison against named competing fans is established by the available sources, so there is no sound basis here to claim that the EGF-1800 is quieter, more comfortable, or more efficient than a particular alternative. Its case for a premium is strongest when its design and specific features matter to you and local support is clear.
