What the Pro 3 supports on mobile
8BitDo lists the Pro 3 for Android 13 or later and for Apple iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, macOS and visionOS 26 or later. On phones and tablets, connection options are Bluetooth and wired USB-C, provided your device and cable support controller input. The same gamepad also supports Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Windows and SteamOS; Windows and Switch can additionally use the included 2.4G adapter.

That broad compatibility makes it useful if you play on more than one platform. You can move between a phone, computer and console instead of buying separate pads, although each device still needs to be paired or connected in its supported mode.

Yes, if you want a handheld setup with the phone mounted above the controls. The Pro 3 is a conventional separate controller, so it does not physically hold a phone by itself. 8BitDo lists compatibility with its separately sold Mobile Gaming Clip. Without a clip, you will need to place the phone on a stand or another surface while you play.

Mobile setup
- Update the phone to a supported operating-system version: Android 13 or later, or a supported Apple platform version.
- For wireless play, put the Pro 3 into Bluetooth pairing mode and select it in the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- For wired play, connect the controller to the phone with a compatible USB-C cable. The phone must support wired gamepad accessories, and some devices may require an adapter or permission prompt.
- Launch a game that accepts external controllers and assign controls in the game’s own settings if necessary.
- Add the optional Mobile Gaming Clip when you want the phone attached to the controller.
What makes the Pro 3 different
The main hardware appeal is control customization rather than a radically smaller mobile design.
- TMR joysticks: magnetic sensing is designed to provide a durable alternative to conventional potentiometer sticks.
- Hall Effect triggers: trigger behavior can switch between a standard travel mode and a more tactile mode.
- Magnetic ABXY buttons: the caps can be swapped between Nintendo-style and Xbox-style layouts. 8BitDo describes this as letting you “swap between Switch and Xbox layouts.”
- Extra controls: two fast remappable bumpers and two rear paddles give four additional inputs for shortcuts or complex game commands.
- Profiles and software: three custom profiles can store configurations, while 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 handles remapping, sensitivity, vibration and macro settings.
- Other functions: vibration and turbo are built in.
The box includes a charging dock, 2.4G adapter, USB cable, button puller and two ball-top joystick caps. The dock is convenient at a desk, but it does not remove the need for a cable when you choose wired mobile play.

At roughly 242 g, the Pro 3 is a full-size pad rather than an ultra-light travel accessory. That can be an advantage for longer sessions and larger hands, but a mounted phone adds more weight to the setup. Battery life varies with wireless use, vibration and other settings, so the 15–20-hour range is an expectation rather than a fixed runtime.

Price: is $47 real?
$47 was a reported temporary Woot deal price in a 2026 Yahoo Tech report. It should be treated as a time-limited snapshot, not the normal or guaranteed price. TechRadar’s May 2026 review listed the controller at $59.99 in the US and £40 in the UK, with UK pricing varying by colorway. Check the live listing before buying; the current price may be higher or lower than either figure.

How to judge the deal
- At $47, the Pro 3 is notably below the $59.99 US review price and is easier to justify as a feature-rich second controller.
- At around $60, compare the value of the TMR sticks, trigger modes, swappable buttons, rear paddles, dock and multi-platform support against simpler pads.
- Include the cost of the optional phone clip if you want a mounted phone; it is not included in the controller package.

Who should buy it?
The Pro 3 is a strong fit for players who want one customizable controller for mobile, PC and Switch, especially if they value extra paddles, adjustable controls and a conventional full-size shape. It is less suitable if your priority is an all-in-one phone controller, minimum travel weight or a built-in headphone socket. The optional clip solves the mounting issue, but it does not change the controller’s separate-pad design.
