Stake.us’s July 10, 2026 access list excludes 22 states, and the Illinois Gaming Board has separately challenged the service’s activity in that state. In states not on the operator’s list, access is not proof that the games or prize-redemption model comply with state law.

The operator’s list and terms can change, so check the current versions before relying on them.
Does being outside the restricted-state list mean it is legal?
No. Three separate questions matter: whether Stake.us currently allows access from your state; whether state law permits the service’s specific games and prize-redemption mechanics; and whether the state regulator has taken a position on the service. The list answers only the first question. The official material reviewed for this overview establishes an operator restriction list and a regulator action in Illinois, not a state-by-state legal clearance for every other state.

How does Stake.us describe its play and prizes?
Stake.us’s terms distinguish between Standard Play using Gold Coins and Promotional Play or Sweepstakes using Stake Cash. Under the operator’s rules, Standard Play can win Gold Coins but not money or prizes. Stake Cash play can provide an opportunity to redeem prizes. The terms put responsibility on customers to determine whether sweepstakes are lawful where they live.
Those labels and rules describe the company’s model; they do not decide how a regulator or court would classify the activity under a particular state’s law. Stake.us Policies identify Sweepsteaks Limited, registered in Cyprus, as the owner and operator, and state: “SWEEPSTAKES ARE VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.”

What has Illinois said about Stake.us?
On February 4, 2026, the Illinois Gaming Board sent Stake.us a cease-and-desist letter. The Board said it had reason to believe the service was operating an illegal online casino without authorization, reported observing games offering cash and cryptocurrency, and said Stake.us was not licensed or authorized by the Board. It demanded that Stake.us block Illinois residents or discontinue cash and cryptocurrency offerings.
In the letter, Illinois Gaming Board Administrator Marcus D. Fruchter wrote: “Consequently, Stake (stake.us)’s activity constitutes illegal gambling in violation of Illinois law.” This is the Board’s stated position and demand. It is not a court ruling, and it does not determine the law in other states.

What should you check before accessing or redeeming prizes?
- Check the current restricted-state list. Review Stake.us’s “Restricted states on the platform” Help Center page and the current Terms & Conditions. The list reported here was dated July 10, 2026.
- Check your state regulator’s position. Look for current guidance, notices, or enforcement actions from the regulator responsible for gambling in your state. An operator allowing access does not establish regulator approval.
- Read the rules for the specific play type. Confirm whether you are using Gold Coins or Stake Cash and what the current rules say about prizes or redemption. Do not assume that a sweepstakes label settles the legal question.
- Recheck before acting. State law, regulator positions, platform terms, and access restrictions may change. The current terms and regulator information matter more than an older list or an earlier explanation.
What responsible-play controls does Stake.us describe?
Stake.us’s Responsible Play policy describes breaks in play and self-exclusion measures. It states that indefinite self-exclusion has a minimum period of six months. These are platform-described controls, not a substitute for determining whether access is lawful in your state.
