Massachusetts law restricts certain electronic sweepstakes, and the materials available do not establish a court or regulator decision applying those rules specifically to Stake.us. Treat the platform’s availability statement and the legal question as separate, and check the current terms before trying to access it.
Does Stake.us allow players in Massachusetts?
Stake.us’s help page, dated July 10, 2026, lists states where it says it cannot accommodate users; Massachusetts is not on that list. That is the operator’s published availability information, not a determination by Massachusetts officials that Stake.us is legal in the state. See Stake.us’s restricted-states information.

The platform’s terms add a broader restriction: they exclude jurisdictions where applicable law precludes play, along with places Stake.us excludes at its discretion. They also put responsibility for determining whether participation is lawful on the customer. Because both the list and terms may change, read the current versions rather than relying on an older availability statement. Read the Stake.us terms.

What Massachusetts law says about sweepstakes
Massachusetts General Laws chapter 271, section 5B defines a sweepstakes as a game, advertising scheme, plan, or other promotion in which a person may enter to win or become eligible for a prize determined by chance, whether or not consideration is required. The statute also defines an “entertaining display” to include visual information in the form of actual or simulated game play.

How the Attorney General evaluates purported sales
The Massachusetts Attorney General says 940 CMR 30.0 prohibits unfair or deceptive practices used to conceal an unauthorized lottery, sweepstakes, or similar game of chance. Its guidance identifies factors such as how the business operates, whether the transaction’s main purpose is game play rather than a legitimate purchase, and whether a free-play option exists and how it works. How Stake.us describes its product—and what is unresolved
Stake.us describes itself as a social casino. According to its help information, Gold Coins have no monetary value and are used for play; Stake Cash are sweepstakes entries that may be redeemed for prizes under the platform’s terms. The platform says tokens can be received through daily login and that optional Gold Coin bundle purchases may include Stake Cash. Those are the operator’s descriptions, not an independent legal finding about how Massachusetts law applies. See Stake.us’s explanation of its platform.
Stake.us’s terms identify Sweepsteaks Limited as the provider and say the platform and games do not offer real-money gambling, while describing Stake Cash as sweepstakes entries and prizes redeemable through promotional play. The legal classification of a particular product depends on applicable law and its operation; a platform’s label alone does not settle it.

The Massachusetts materials cited here do not establish a court or regulator ruling specifically classifying Stake.us’s current sweepstakes model. It would therefore be too strong to conclude either that Massachusetts has approved Stake.us because the state is absent from the company’s list, or that Stake.us is illegal based only on the general statutory language. The status remains unresolved in these sources.
Do not use a VPN to get around a location restriction
Stake.us’s terms prohibit participating from excluded territories and expressly bar using a VPN, proxy, or similar tool to mask or manipulate location to evade restrictions. If the platform blocks access or its current terms exclude your location, do not try to bypass the block. Check the current location and access rules.

Is Stake.us the same as a Massachusetts-licensed sportsbook?
No. Massachusetts regulates sports wagering under chapter 23N. The law permits licensed operators to accept approved sports wagers from individuals physically located in the Commonwealth through commission-approved mobile applications or digital platforms. This is a distinct regulated activity from Stake.us’s sweepstakes-style social gaming model. Read c. 23N, § 13 and the chapter establishing Massachusetts’s sports-wagering framework.
For licensed sports wagering, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission lists licensees and advises customers to look for its official seal. Verify that a platform is listed and that its current terms fit your location and eligibility before using it. A licensed sportsbook is not the same product as Stake.us, and the licensee list does not determine Stake.us’s status. Check the Gaming Commission’s sports-wagering information.

The Attorney General has sent enforcement letters concerning other operators. For example, a letter about BetOnline says the office believed that company offered unlicensed online gambling and betting products in Massachusetts without required Gaming Commission licensing. That enforcement action concerns the named operator; it does not decide Stake.us’s legal status. Read the BetOnline letter.
