What PvE and co-op does Space Marine 2 offer?
Campaign: solo or three-player co-op
The campaign can be played alone or with up to two friends, making three players the maximum group size. Focus Entertainment described this setup in its May 2024 community update; Saber Interactive’s support FAQ also confirms campaign co-op. That establishes the available format, not whether the story or combat will suit your taste.

Operations: replayable PvE missions
Operations is a separate PvE mode built around replayable missions for up to three players. It offers a reason to return after or alongside the campaign, with selectable classes. Saber’s FAQ says players need to be online for PvE progress to save: “For Operations Mode (PvE), you will need to be online to ensure your progress in PvE is saved.” If you want to play Operations offline, that requirement is a meaningful drawback.

- A group of three looking for cooperative action: Both the campaign and Operations support a three-player format.
- Someone who wants more than a one-and-done campaign: Operations provides repeatable PvE missions, and official updates document additions to PvE after launch.
- A solo player comfortable with campaign-only play: The campaign has a solo route. Operations is a distinct online-dependent mode, so weigh that separately.
It is a less certain fit if your group has more than three players, if offline progression is essential, or if your decision depends on mission variety, matchmaking quality, grind, or performance. How much has PvE changed since launch?
The game launched on September 9, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In its August 28, 2025 Year Two roadmap, Focus described additional support including weapons, missions, a new PvE mission, and PvE Stratagems. A 2026 Warhammer Community Patch 14 article reported a new enemy and cosmetic sets for Operations in the Confrontation Update. These updates show continued additions through the cited 2026 update; a roadmap or update history is not a guarantee of future content or release cadence.
Check group size, crossplay, and online needs
- Group size: The documented campaign and Operations formats cap the group at three players.
- Crossplay: Focus’s August 2024 crossplay update described campaign and PvE crossplay without restriction at that time, while PvP pools were separated between PC and consoles. Because that information is from before release, confirm current rules for your exact platform combination rather than assuming they have not changed.
- Online access: Operations needs an internet connection for PvE progress to save. Do not treat the campaign’s solo option as evidence that every mode or progression system works offline.
Compare the current price and access route
Space Marine 2 is listed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC by the publisher. Xbox Wire announced Game Pass availability beginning January 29, 2026, in its January 21, 2026 announcement. Price, edition contents, regional availability, and subscription catalogs can change, so check the live store listing for your platform and region before deciding whether to buy or use a subscription. Compare the edition you would actually play, not a headline price for another platform or version.
