Yes—Samsung DeX is still supported, but support depends on how you want to use it and which Galaxy device and software version you have. DeX continues to work on compatible phones and tablets with an external display, and on supported tablets as a standalone desktop. The exception is DeX for PC: Samsung says it is no longer supported on Galaxy devices released with or updated to One UI 7 or later. Link to Windows can handle selected phone-to-PC tasks, but it does not show the DeX desktop on a Windows PC.
Which Samsung DeX mode do you mean?
“DeX support” can mean three distinct setups. Their requirements and current status differ, so check the mode before checking accessories.

Is DeX for PC discontinued?
For devices running One UI 7 or later, yes: Samsung says DeX for PC is no longer supported. Samsung Gulf’s guidance, last updated July 6, 2026, distinguishes this from One UI 6: DeX for PC remains available there, but Samsung no longer provides technical support. That does not guarantee the older setup will keep working indefinitely.

Samsung’s US guide describes DeX for PC for compatible devices on Windows 10 and Windows 11, via USB or wirelessly, and says it is unavailable on Galaxy tablets. Device eligibility and the One UI restriction both matter; check Samsung’s current local support page for your model.

Link to Windows is not a DeX replacement
Samsung recommends Link to Windows for selected phone-to-PC tasks, including calls, texts, notifications, recent apps, and websites. It does not provide DeX’s full-screen app-window mode, a USB phone-to-PC connection, or the Android desktop screen on the PC. Choose it for those phone functions, not if you specifically need the DeX desktop running in a Windows window. Samsung explains the distinction.
Will DeX work with your TV or monitor?
It depends on the exact Galaxy model and connection type. Samsung publishes separate compatibility lists for wired HDMI, wireless DeX, and DeX for PC; being in a Galaxy product family does not establish that every model supports every mode. Check the model-specific lists on Samsung’s DeX guide before buying an adapter or dock.

Wired DeX over HDMI
For a supported device, Samsung says a DeX cable or compatible HDMI cable can connect it to a TV or monitor with an HDMI port. A compatible USB-C-to-HDMI adapter is another option for a verified model. Do not assume that a USB-C port means a phone supports video output or DeX: the model’s entry on Samsung’s list is the deciding check.
Samsung specifically excludes the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series and Tab S10 FE series from HDMI output in its guide. Its broader list covers selected Galaxy S, Note, Fold, A, and Tab models, but consult the current list for the exact model rather than relying on the family name.

Wireless DeX
Samsung lists 2018-and-later Samsung TVs, Samsung Smart Monitors, and other displays that support Miracast as potential wireless destinations. Wireless-compatible Galaxy models do not exactly match the wired list; Samsung says the Tab S9 FE and Tab S10 FE series are not compatible with Wireless DeX. Verify both the source device and display before troubleshooting a connection.
Standalone DeX on a tablet
Some Galaxy tablets can run DeX on their own screen, so this mode does not require a TV, monitor, HDMI cable, or wireless display. Samsung’s tablet and mode-specific compatibility guidance determines availability; do not infer standalone support from external-display compatibility alone.

How to choose the right setup
- Identify the exact Galaxy model. Use its full model name, not just “Galaxy S,” “Fold,” or “Tab.” Look it up in Samsung’s separate wired, wireless, tablet, and PC compatibility guidance.
- Check the installed One UI version if you want DeX for PC. Samsung’s stated cutoff is One UI 7 or later; One UI 6 may still have DeX for PC, but without technical support.
- Pick the output you need. For HDMI, confirm the device supports wired video and use a compatible cable or adapter. For wireless, confirm both the device and display support the required mode, such as Miracast.
- Decide whether a desktop on a PC is essential. If it is, Link to Windows will not provide that interface. If calls, messages, notifications, or selected apps are enough, Samsung identifies Link to Windows as its alternative.
A cable or adapter is only relevant to a supported wired setup. Wireless DeX and standalone tablet DeX can avoid buying one. Samsung also describes the DeX Pad and DeX Station as docks for wired accessories; check the dock’s fit and compatibility with your device. Bluetooth keyboard and mouse accessories are another option for a desk setup. Samsung does not endorse any particular third-party adapter or dock.

Samsung’s US DeX FAQ describes several interface changes for One UI 8. Availability may vary by device and software version.
- External monitors can be rotated vertically, and a wider range of resolutions is supported.
- Dragging an app window left or right to move it to the opposite screen has been discontinued. Samsung points users to menu actions such as Snap left, Snap right, or Send to other display.
- On Android 16, Smart Switch does not restore DeX settings under the redesigned interface. Samsung says this is expected to be addressed in a later OS update.
For the window-moving change, Samsung says it was discontinued “starting from One UI 8.0” as part of a design update. Consult the current Samsung DeX FAQ for applicable device and software details.
Where to verify a device-specific answer
Compatibility lists and software behavior can vary by region, carrier, and update. Samsung’s US pages provide the cited device and One UI 8 information; its Gulf support page gives the One UI 6 and One UI 7 DeX for PC distinction. For a definitive answer, check the Samsung support page for your region, exact model, and installed software version.
