Samsung Certified Re-Newed is Samsung’s refurbishment program for selected Galaxy phones. In the U.S., Samsung says each phone gets a 147-point inspection, a certified new battery, a new IMEI, current software and a one-year limited manufacturer warranty. The lineup varies by market and changes over time: Samsung added the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra to its U.S. program on September 14, 2026. Check the live listing in your country for current models, stock and terms.
What does Samsung Certified Re-Newed include?
Samsung’s U.S. product page says Certified Re-Newed phones are refurbished at a Samsung facility and undergo a 147-point quality inspection. Samsung also lists a certified new battery, a new IMEI, current software, cleaning and a one-year limited manufacturer warranty. The U.S. box contents listed are a charging cable, user manual, ejector pin and warranty card; confirm the contents on the specific product listing.

Samsung does not promise that every component in every phone is replaced. It says genuine Samsung parts are used when components such as the screen, camera, speakers, sensors, NFC or antenna need replacement because they do not work normally or need replacement for appearance. Samsung’s September 2026 U.S. announcement describes the S26-series units as assembled by Samsung engineers with 100% genuine Samsung parts and a brand-new battery. Those details should not be generalized beyond the models and program descriptions Samsung specifies. Samsung’s S26 announcement and its U.S. Certified Re-Newed page provide the current program claims.

Availability is market-specific, not a single global catalog. Samsung announced the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra for U.S. Certified Re-Newed on September 14, 2026. In a January 13, 2026 European announcement, Samsung said the Galaxy S25 series was available through Certified Re-Newed in Germany and the UK, and through “Refurbished Premium by Samsung” in France. Those European launches were announced for Samsung.com in select markets. Names, eligible models and stock can differ by country, so use the local Samsung listing rather than assuming a device shown in one region is available elsewhere.
#1 Best Overall

- Camera: Rear dual camera system with 64MP main and 12MP ultrawide lenses for stunning photos and videos.
- Memory: 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM for plenty of apps and files.
- Connectivity: 5G capable with support for GSM, CDMA, and Wi-Fi networks.
- Battery: 4000mAh battery provides all-day power for your daily needs.
The European announcement says the program’s devices undergo more than 100 quality tests and notes that products may have slight external blemishes that do not affect function or performance. That is a separate program description from the U.S. page’s 147-point inspection; the two figures describe different market materials and should not be treated as interchangeable. Samsung’s European announcement also says warranty terms may vary by country or market.
What warranty, returns and protection apply?
Manufacturer warranty
For the U.S. S26 announcement, Samsung states that Certified Re-Newed phones receive the same one-year limited warranty offered on new smartphones. The U.S. product page also describes a one-year limited manufacturer warranty. Do not assume the same duration or terms in another country: Samsung explicitly qualifies that warranties may vary by market. Read the warranty attached to the exact local listing before buying.

- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
Returns and trade-in
Samsung’s U.S. page describes a 15-day return window, subject to possible restocking fees. Its trade-in terms may depend on time limits, eligible models, device condition and sending the old device on time. These terms can change; verify the checkout and return information for the listing you intend to purchase.
Optional device protection
Samsung says eligible U.S. Certified Re-Newed phones can be paired with Care+. Treat that as optional coverage, not as a replacement for the included manufacturer warranty. Check current eligibility, price, exclusions and claims rules for your market and model.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
How should you evaluate a Certified Re-Newed phone?
- Confirm the exact configuration. Match the model, storage, color, carrier or unlocked status, and local product listing. Availability and stock can change.
- Read your country’s warranty and return terms. Check the duration, provider, exclusions, return window and any fees on the actual listing.
- Understand the condition promise. Samsung specifies a new battery and genuine replacement parts when needed; that does not mean every part is new. In the European program description, slight cosmetic blemishes may remain.
- Check trade-in conditions. Confirm eligible devices, condition requirements, deadlines and shipping instructions before counting a trade-in value toward the price.
- Compare total cost for the same phone. Compare current renewed and new offers with the same storage and carrier status, including trade-in value, taxes, possible return costs and any optional coverage. Samsung’s old launch prices are not current price guidance.
How does Certified Re-Newed compare with new, used and third-party refurbished?
The most useful comparison is not simply “renewed versus new”; it is whether the specific listing offers the right combination of condition, protections and total cost. Samsung’s official materials substantiate its own program claims, but they do not establish current market-wide savings or prove that third-party refurbished listings have equivalent inspection, parts, battery or warranty assurances.

For any seller, also verify network compatibility and who is responsible if the phone arrives in a different condition than described. Do not treat a third-party listing as Samsung Certified Re-Newed unless Samsung identifies it as part of that program.

Are historical Samsung renewed prices useful?
Only as dated context. Samsung’s April 22, 2025 U.S. announcement gave starting prices of $1,019.99 for the 256GB Galaxy S24 Ultra, $799.99 for the 256GB Galaxy S24+ and $619.99 for the 128GB Galaxy S24. These were historical announced starting prices, not current offers or evidence of savings today. Samsung’s 2025 announcement records those launch figures.
