Is Saints Row: The Third Remastered on Mobile Worth Buying? Features, Controls, and Performance

By Freedom251 Team · · 11 min read

Short answer: not yet, because Saints Row: The Third Remastered is still unreleased on iPhone and Android as of October 17, 2026. Feral Interactive has announced an October 29, 2026 launch. The planned port includes the complete 47-mission game, all three named DLC packs, more than 30 additional weapons, vehicles and costumes, online co-op, customizable touch controls and support for compatible controllers. That is a strong feature list, but nobody can responsibly promise smooth frame rates, acceptable heat, battery life or comfortable touch aiming before independent testing after launch.

If you specifically want Saints Row: The Third on a phone or tablet, your device meets the requirements and you are comfortable waiting for performance reports, it looks like a plausible premium purchase. If you need proven performance today, or your device is close to the minimum specification, wait until the game is available and tested on your exact hardware.

What is launching, and when?

Saints Row: The Third Remastered is an upcoming mobile port from Feral Interactive, not a game that is already available for general purchase. Feral’s announcement dated September 3, 2026, and the Apple App Store listing both give October 29, 2026 as the expected release date. On October 17, that date is still in the future, so any article claiming verified mobile frame rates or hands-on control quality would be getting ahead of the evidence.

The game follows the Third Street Saints in Steelport, a city described by the publisher as being controlled by the Syndicate. The mobile listing presents the same open-world structure built around missions, district conflicts and optional activities. The announced edition is positioned as a premium, one-time purchase rather than a free-to-play release.

What you get for the purchase

Feral’s announcement and its Google Play and Apple App Store listings describe a substantial package rather than a stripped-down mobile adaptation.

Included item What the official listings say
Main campaign 47 missions, set across Steelport
Named downloadable content Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space and The Trouble With Clones
Additional content More than 30 extra weapons, vehicles and costumes
Activities Examples listed include base jumping and insurance fraud
Co-op Online co-op for the full game
Input options Customizable touchscreen controls, supported gamepads, and keyboard-and-mouse support according to Feral’s announcement

The “more than 30” figure is a combined description of extra weapons, vehicles and costumes; it is not a promise of 30 items in each category. Likewise, “online co-op” confirms that the feature is included in the advertised package, but the supplied listings do not provide technical details about matchmaking, cross-platform play, connection requirements or account systems.

Does the mobile version include all the DLC?

Yes, the announced package explicitly names all three DLC packs: Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space and The Trouble With Clones. They are listed as part of the mobile game rather than as separate purchases. The same package description also includes the additional weapons, vehicles and costumes mentioned above.

Price, storage and the cost of getting started

Store prices are regional snapshots, not a universal worldwide price. Google Play lists the Android game at $19.99, £12.99 or €15.99 and says that local pricing can vary. The Canadian Apple App Store listing shows $21.99. Taxes, currency conversion and later storefront changes can affect what you actually pay, so check the purchase screen for your country immediately before buying.

Store example Displayed price Qualification
Google Play $19.99 Example regional price; the listing also shows £12.99 and €15.99 and warns that prices vary by region
Apple App Store Canada $21.99 Canadian storefront snapshot accessed October 13, 2026

The Canadian App Store listing reports an app size of 17.6 GB. That number can change as a listing is updated, and the amount of free space needed during installation can be higher than the final installed size because a device may need room to download, unpack and verify the app. Leave a comfortable buffer instead of trying to install with exactly 17.6 GB free.

The official store listings for this release do not establish a separate subscription, energy system, advertising layer or in-app purchase requirement. Treat the advertised price as the price of the premium game, then confirm the current store page for your region before completing the transaction.

Will it run on your phone or tablet?

Compatibility is restrictive enough that checking first is essential. The Android listing requires Android 13 or later. The Apple listing requires iOS 18 or later and an A12 Bionic device or later.

Platform Published minimum What to verify before purchase
Android Android 13 or later Open the current Google Play page on the device you intend to use and confirm that the store marks it compatible
iPhone and iPad iOS 18 or later; A12 Bionic or later Check the current Apple listing and your exact iPhone or iPad model, because the summary and detailed model list can be enumerated differently as listings change

Google Play says it aims to block purchases when a device is identified as incapable of running the game. It also acknowledges that rare device-identification errors can allow a purchase on unsupported hardware. A successful purchase therefore is not absolute proof that the game will perform properly; compatibility should be checked from the device’s own store page and against the operating-system and chip requirements.

Android check

  1. Open Google Play on the Android phone or tablet you plan to use.
  2. Find the official Saints Row: The Third Remastered listing from Feral Interactive.
  3. Confirm that the listing does not show an incompatibility warning and that the device is running Android 13 or newer.
  4. Check available storage, aiming for more than the listed app size so installation and updates have room to complete.
  5. If the store page says the device is unsupported, do not rely on sideloading or a purchase error in the opposite direction as evidence that it will work.

iPhone and iPad check

  1. Open the Apple App Store listing on the exact iPhone or iPad you will use.
  2. Verify that the device runs iOS 18 or later and uses an A12 Bionic chip or newer.
  3. Compare the model shown on your device with the current supported-device information in the listing.
  4. Free substantially more than 17.6 GB before installation, because the store’s listed app size is a snapshot and installation may require temporary working space.

Touch controls, gamepads and keyboard support

Feral says the port is adapted for touch and offers customizable touchscreen controls. That means you should be able to choose where virtual controls appear and adjust the layout to suit your hands, but the announcement does not prove that aiming, driving, menu navigation or camera control will feel as precise as they do with physical inputs.

Feral’s announcement also lists gamepad and keyboard-and-mouse support. The Apple listing specifically names compatible PlayStation, Xbox or MFi controllers. On Android, compatibility can depend on the controller, phone, operating-system version and game-support implementation, so check the accessory’s requirements and your device’s Bluetooth or wired support before buying one for this game.

When touch is the sensible choice

  • You want to play briefly without carrying another accessory.
  • Your device has a large screen and you can place virtual buttons where your thumbs naturally rest.
  • You mainly explore, drive or complete activities and are willing to adjust sensitivity and layout.

When a controller is the safer plan

  • You are buying primarily for third-person shooting, vehicle combat or missions that demand repeated camera and aim adjustments.
  • You already own a compatible PlayStation, Xbox or MFi controller for an Apple device.
  • You dislike covering part of the display with virtual buttons or find touch movement tiring during a long session.

Do not buy a specific controller solely on the assumption that it will work. Confirm compatibility with your phone or tablet, its operating system and the game before spending extra money. No particular controller model has been established or tested for this port in the available material.

What is known about performance—and what is not

Feral describes the game as optimized for Android and iOS. Its Google Play listing says, “If you are able to purchase this game on your device then we expect it to run well in most cases.” That is the developer’s expectation, not an independent benchmark or a guarantee for every supported phone.

No official material available before launch supplies a frame-rate target, device-by-device benchmark, resolution setting, battery measurement, heat result, loading-time test or stability survey. There is also no independent post-launch testing yet because the announced release date has not arrived. The honest answer to “Will it run smoothly?” is therefore conditional: the device must meet the published requirements, but real-world smoothness remains unverified until people test the shipping build.

Why minimum compatibility is not a performance guarantee

A store eligibility check answers whether the publisher considers a device capable of installing and running the game. It does not tell you whether that device will maintain a stable frame rate during crowded scenes, how quickly it will drain the battery, how hot it will become, or whether long sessions will trigger thermal throttling. Two phones that both satisfy Android 13 can have very different processors, cooling systems, screen resolutions and sustained performance.

What to measure after launch

If performance matters to your buying decision, wait for tests on your exact model or test the game during the store’s refund window where applicable. Look for evidence collected during a sustained session rather than a few minutes in a menu.

  • Frame-rate consistency during driving, combat and busy city scenes, not just the opening sequence.
  • Stutters, long pauses, crashes or texture-streaming problems after extended play.
  • Device temperature and whether performance drops as the phone warms up.
  • Battery drain over a repeatable period with brightness and network conditions stated.
  • Load times when starting missions, entering activities and joining online co-op.
  • Whether touch controls remain responsive when the device is warm and the screen is busy.

Until those observations exist, “optimized for mobile” should be read as a product claim about the port’s design, not as proof of a particular frame rate or battery life.

Is it worth buying before release?

There is no practical reason to pre-judge the game as a guaranteed bargain or a guaranteed failure. The decision depends on what you value and how much uncertainty you can tolerate.

It is a promising buy if all of these describe you

  • You specifically want Saints Row: The Third on a phone or tablet rather than a different game.
  • You can wait until October 29, 2026, or until independent tests appear.
  • Your device meets the published operating-system and chip requirements with ample free storage.
  • You value the complete campaign, three named DLC packs, extra items and online co-op in one mobile package.
  • You are prepared to use a compatible controller if touch aiming does not suit you.

Waiting is the better choice if any of these matter most

  • You need confirmed frame-rate, heat or battery results before paying.
  • Your phone is close to the minimum requirement or has little free storage.
  • You expect console-like controls from touch input without accepting a controller as an alternative.
  • You need to know how online co-op, matchmaking or cross-platform play work before committing.
  • You are buying only because the game is discounted; the current prices are regional examples and may change.

A practical buying checklist

Use this sequence on release day or after trustworthy testing becomes available.

  1. Confirm the date. Check that the listing has moved from an expected October 29, 2026 release to an available download in your region.
  2. Verify the device. On Android, confirm Android 13 or newer and store compatibility. On Apple devices, confirm iOS 18 or newer and an A12 Bionic-or-later model.
  3. Check storage. Treat the Canadian listing’s 17.6 GB as a current reference, not a permanent universal value, and leave additional working space.
  4. Check the local price. Google Play’s $19.99, £12.99 and €15.99 examples and the Canadian App Store’s $21.99 are not worldwide prices.
  5. Choose your input plan. Decide whether you will start with customizable touch controls or a compatible controller. On Apple devices, the listing names PlayStation, Xbox and MFi options.
  6. Read device-specific tests. Prioritize reports from the same phone or tablet model, especially for sustained play and thermal behavior.
  7. Install on a stable connection. A large premium game can take time to download and unpack; avoid starting the installation with marginal storage or a nearly empty battery.
  8. Test before committing to a long session. Play a mission, drive through a busy area and try the control scheme you plan to use before assuming comfort or stability.

Common purchase and setup problems

The store says the device is unsupported

Do not treat an unsupported message as a challenge to bypass. Recheck the operating-system version, the exact device model and the current listing. On Android, the published requirement is Android 13 or later; on Apple devices, it is iOS 18 or later with an A12 Bionic-or-later device. If the device still fails the store check, use hardware that meets the listed requirements instead.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The game appears purchasable but performs badly

Google Play’s own wording allows for rare device-identification errors. A purchase being accepted does not override the published requirements or guarantee sustained performance. Record the model, operating-system version, graphics settings if offered, temperature and symptoms, then consult the store’s current support and refund processes rather than assuming the game is optimized for every purchasable device.

There is not enough storage to install

Free more space than the listed 17.6 GB, remove or move large files, and retry the installation. The listing’s figure is for the Canadian storefront at the time it was checked and may change with updates. Temporary installation files can also require room beyond the final app footprint.

Touch controls feel crowded or inaccurate

Open the control-customization screen and reposition virtual buttons so your thumbs do not overlap the action area. Test a lower or higher sensitivity if the game exposes that option. If driving, aiming or camera movement remains uncomfortable, switch to a compatible controller rather than assuming a control problem proves the whole port is poor.

The phone becomes hot or slows down

Before drawing a conclusion, test with a full or adequately charged battery, close unrelated apps, remove a thick case temporarily and compare a short session with a longer one. If frame pacing worsens as the device heats, that is evidence of a sustained-performance limitation on that hardware, not a result established for every supported phone. Independent measurements after release will be more useful than the publisher’s general optimization language.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How it compares as a mobile purchase

The available material does not establish verified alternative mobile editions or head-to-head performance results, so a meaningful comparison should use your own purchase priorities rather than invented benchmarks.

  • Local price: compare the current price in your storefront, not another country’s listing.
  • Eligibility: check whether your exact phone or tablet passes the platform’s requirements.
  • Storage: make sure the device can hold the app and temporary installation data.
  • Input: decide whether customizable touch controls are acceptable or whether you will use a supported controller.
  • Content: confirm that the advertised 47-mission campaign, three named DLC packs and additional items are included in the edition you are viewing.
  • Measured performance: after launch, prefer tests on the exact device you own over generic claims about optimization.

Verdict

Saints Row: The Third Remastered has the ingredients of a worthwhile premium mobile port: a full 47-mission campaign, the three named DLC packs, more than 30 extra weapons, vehicles and costumes, online co-op and multiple input methods. Its announced October 29, 2026 release, Android 13-and-later requirement, iOS 18-and-later/A12 Bionic requirement and roughly 17.6 GB iPhone-and-iPad listing size give buyers concrete checks to make now.

What the pre-release information cannot answer is the part that determines whether a mobile port feels good in practice. There is no measured frame rate, battery result, thermal test, stability record or independent verdict on touch comfort yet. Buy it when it launches if you already want this particular game, your device is clearly eligible and you accept that uncertainty. Otherwise, wait for post-launch testing on your exact hardware before spending the regional price shown by your store.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
