No. RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a paid game: you must buy the base game, but Jagex says you do not need a recurring subscription or regular in-game purchase to access its content. Subscription services may offer a separate way to play while the game is in their catalogue.
Do you have to pay for Dragonwilds?
Yes. Jagex’s game-specific EULA requires a one-time purchase for the base game and says no subscription or regular in-game transaction is required to access its content. Jagex announced a full-game price of $29.99 in the US and £24.99 in the UK, and said the price would remain the same after version 1.0. The Steam US storefront displayed $29.99 for Standard and $39.99 for Deluxe when checked; prices can vary by country, platform, and promotion, so confirm the amount shown in your store before buying. Is Dragonwilds included with Game Pass or PlayStation Plus?
Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium are possible subscription-library routes for eligible subscribers, separate from the game’s purchase model. Catalogue availability can change and may differ by region and subscription tier; check the live catalogue for your account before subscribing or assuming access. A catalogue listing does not make Dragonwilds free-to-play. Jagex platform and access announcement

Which editions and platforms are available?
Jagex lists PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as launch platforms. On PC, the game is offered through Steam, the Jagex Launcher, and Epic Games Store. A Steam purchase does not also grant access through the Jagex Launcher; Jagex treats them as separate platforms. Jagex platform announcement
| Edition or format | Platforms and details |
|---|---|
| Digital Standard | Listed across the launch platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Current regional price depends on the store. |

What does the Deluxe Edition add?
The key distinction established by Jagex is cosmetic gear: it says Deluxe items are cosmetic and equal in stats to existing in-game gear. That means the announced gear is not a gameplay-stat advantage. Deluxe is listed on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and existing owners can buy the upgrade separately. Check the storefront’s current product description for the complete item list and price before purchase. Jagex editions announcement

How to choose how to play
- Choose your platform and storefront. On PC, decide between Steam, the Jagex Launcher, and Epic Games Store; a purchase on one does not automatically provide access on another. Console players should select the exact system edition.
- Compare Standard and Deluxe. Choose Deluxe for its cosmetic extras, not for a stated stats advantage. On PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, existing owners can also check the standalone upgrade.
- Decide whether you want a disc. Physical Standard and Deluxe are confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; verify local retailer inventory and edition details.
- Check the current total for your region. The announced US and UK prices are reference points, not a guarantee of today’s local price or promotion.
- Check any subscription catalogue directly. Confirm the game appears for your region and exact tier before counting a subscription as your access route.
