Restream can schedule a finite 24-hour prerecorded YouTube broadcast, but its documented features do not establish a guaranteed, unattended 24/7 channel. Its video loop is capped at 10 repetitions and 40 hours, playlists do not loop, and YouTube archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. That makes Restream a documented option for a planned long event—not proof of seamless, indefinite broadcasting.
What Restream’s limits mean for a 24-hour broadcast
Restream’s prerecorded-event feature can start an event at its scheduled time while you are offline. Its looping guide explicitly lists streaming for 24 hours as a use case for online radio stations and DJs. A finite 24-hour event is therefore within the stated 40-hour maximum, provided the video duration and number of repetitions fit the cap. That is different from an always-on channel. A loop can repeat no more than 10 times, and a playlist does not automatically loop. You can repeat playlist entries, up to 40 videos total, to make a longer finite sequence; that still does not create an endlessly recurring broadcast. The available documentation does not establish an automatic, gap-free handoff from one event to another.

Finishing the event is not the same as staying live
When a scheduled video or its permitted repetitions finish, the documented limits do not promise that another event will start automatically. If continuous coverage matters, decide in advance whether a gap and manual rescheduling are acceptable. Do not treat a 24-hour event capability as a 24/7 service guarantee.

Long broadcasts may not produce one complete YouTube replay
Restream’s YouTube guidance says YouTube archives streams only when they are under 12 hours. A 24-hour broadcast may run but lack a complete single YouTube archive. If retaining the full music program matters, keep the original file and plan for an archive strategy rather than relying on YouTube’s live replay alone. Service availability is not an end-to-end guarantee
Restream’s public status page displayed 99.98% uptime for Studio when checked in 2026. That is a point-in-time status-page figure, not an end-to-end measurement of scheduled prerecorded streams reaching YouTube, nor a service-level guarantee for this use. Restream System Status is useful for checking current incidents, but it cannot establish uninterrupted delivery for a particular broadcast.

Restream’s terms also allow for scheduled maintenance and unscheduled service interruptions and disclaim that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. This is a legal limitation on assurance, not evidence that a specific event will fail. Restream’s Terms of Service provide the applicable wording.
Prepare a Restream event before relying on it
- Confirm channel access. Restream says the connected YouTube channel must be owned by the account holder and live streaming must be enabled. For a first YouTube stream, its guide says phone verification is required and YouTube may require a 24-hour wait after enabling live streaming. Check the channel’s status before the event rather than assuming it is ready. See Restream’s YouTube setup guide.
- Check plan entitlements and storage. Restream lists looping as available on its Marathon and Media add-on plans. Its scheduled-event article also lists Premier, Marathon, and Media storage tiers, with library duration and maximum-resolution limits that vary by tier. Confirm the current plan, event duration, resolution and available storage in your account before uploading; these plan details can change. Restream warns that cloud storage is not a substitute for a hard drive or other backup, so retain an original copy of every music and video asset. See the event guide and the storage guide.
- Validate the media file. Restream lists MP4, MOV, M4V and MKV containers, H.264 video, AAC audio, and keyframe 2 as required specifications. It recommends 1080p and suggests adding 15–20 seconds at both the beginning and end so destination platforms have time to process the incoming stream. Check the final export against Restream’s prerecorded-video requirements.
- Calculate the event length. Ensure the planned duration stays within the 40-hour maximum and that a video loop uses no more than 10 repetitions. If using a playlist, repeated entries can extend the finite sequence to at most 40 total videos, but the playlist itself will not loop.
- Run a test using the intended file and destination. Check that the event starts at its scheduled time, audio and video play as expected, and the YouTube stream appears as intended. Also confirm whether the resulting archive meets your needs. This is a practical precaution, not a claim that a test guarantees future uptime.
Music rights and channel policy still matter
A technically successful stream does not establish that you have the right to broadcast its music. Use music and visuals you own or are licensed to stream on YouTube, and check the relevant rights and permissions before scheduling. Restream’s ability to upload or loop a file does not grant music rights or guarantee that YouTube will leave the stream available.

Practical verdict
Restream is a viable documented way to schedule a finite prerecorded broadcast that lasts 24 hours, if the selected plan, media and repetition count fit the stated limits. The evidence does not establish unattended indefinite operation, an automatic transition into a new event, or guaranteed end-to-end uptime. Choose it when a finite event and possible gap are acceptable; for continuous coverage, use a service designed to keep uploaded video running continuously and verify its behavior against your channel’s needs.
