Resident Evil Requiem is a single-player survival-horror game released on February 27, 2026. It follows FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy through a campaign built around combat, exploration, and puzzles, with a choice of first- or third-person perspective. It may suit you if you want a solo horror campaign with flexible camera options; it is not a multiplayer purchase. Whether it is worth your money depends on your platform, current local price, and interest in the Deluxe edition’s extras.
What kind of game is Resident Evil Requiem?
Capcom describes Resident Evil Requiem as the ninth main installment in the series and a survival-horror game made with its RE ENGINE. The campaign takes place in and around Raccoon City. Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst and the daughter of a character from an earlier game, investigates the truth behind the Raccoon City Incident. Leon S. Kennedy is also a protagonist; the official Xbox listing says the two characters have distinct play styles whose stories intertwine. Capcom’s release announcement gives the February 27, 2026 launch date, while its 2025 integrated report outlines the premise and gameplay.

Capcom identifies combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving as core activities. Players can choose first-person or third-person perspective, and Capcom says they can switch between them during gameplay. The available evidence establishes those design features, but not a general verdict on campaign length, difficulty, replay value, or how frightening it will feel to an individual player.

Is Resident Evil Requiem single-player?
Yes. The official Xbox Store listing classifies it as single-player. Capcom Support also states, “Crossplay and cross-saves between platforms are not supported,” in its FAQ, updated July 22, 2026. Do not buy it expecting cooperative play or progress shared across platforms.
#1 Best Overall
- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Which platforms can you play it on?
Capcom lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Capcom says the base-game content is the same across versions, but hardware and controller features differ. The figures below are Capcom-published specifications, not independent performance tests.
| Platform | Capcom-listed display and feature details |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | 2160p with HDR; ray tracing is listed for PS5 Pro only. |
| Xbox Series X | 2160p with HDR and ray tracing. |
| Xbox Series S | 1440p with HDR and ray tracing. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | 1080p in TV mode and 900p in handheld or tabletop mode, with HDR and Amiibo support. |
| PC | Resolution and screen mode are adjustable; available resolutions vary by graphics card. |
These platform details come from Capcom Support’s platform FAQ. It also lists differences in input and audio support. PC buyers should check the current official or store requirements against their exact hardware: Capcom cautions that normal operation is not guaranteed with onboard graphics or devices that share video memory with system memory. A mobile GPU that meets a stated requirement may still underperform compared with a regular desktop GPU.

Which edition should you buy?
Compare what each edition includes with its current price in your region. The Xbox US Store showed the standard and Deluxe editions and a starting price of $69.99+ when checked on October 4, 2026. That is a regional storefront snapshot, not a universal or guaranteed current price; check the live listing before buying.
| Option | What the available official information says | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Standard edition | The Xbox US Store lists a standard edition. The cited listing does not enumerate its contents beyond the game. | Compare its live local price with Deluxe; the available sources do not establish a value recommendation for every buyer. |
| Deluxe edition | Capcom’s November 2025 announcement says it includes the full game, five costumes, four weapon skins, two charms, two screen filters, a custom sound pack, and additional in-game files. | Decide whether those digital extras appeal to you enough to justify any price difference. |
See the Xbox US Store listing for its regional edition and price information, and Capcom’s November 2025 announcement for Deluxe details. Capcom also announced physical retail copies, so console buyers can consider physical as well as digital purchase; that announcement does not establish current inventory. Retailer-specific preorder extras mentioned at the time should not be assumed to remain available.

- FEAR COMES HOME -- Fear, combat, exploration, and item management: these are the four pillars of survival horror, a genre that has never been more masterfully executed than in the gameplay of Resident Evil. The horror continues in the ground-breaking Resident Evil 7. Step into the new Isolated View and experience true survival horror in a world created by the all-new RE Engine.
- DEEP IN THE BAYOU - When Ethan Winters opened his inbox, the last thing he expected was to find an email from his wife; she had been missing for three years. The message was simple: "Come get me," and an address in Louisiana. This leads Ethan to a decrepit mansion in the heart of the bayou. The place has a seriously creepy vibe, but Ethan continues his search – until a stranger attacks him and knocks him unconscious. Ethan has no idea what awaits him when he wakes up...for he is now in the clutches of the Baker family.
- A NEW PERSPECTIVE -- In RESIDENT EVIL 7, we're changing the way you interact with the world. For this next major entry in the series, play from a first-person point of view, dramatically increasing your ability to become fully absorbed in the world we have created.
- NEW FOR PLAYSTATION5 – Upgraded features new to the PlayStation5 version of the game include a higher frame rate, 3D audio, added ray tracing, and engaging DualSense support for Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers.
How to decide if it is worth buying for you
- Consider it if: you want a solo survival-horror campaign, are interested in a story featuring Grace and Leon, and like having first- and third-person perspectives available.
- Look elsewhere if: you want multiplayer, cooperative play, or cross-platform shared saves.
- Choose a platform deliberately: use the hardware you own, compare Capcom’s listed platform features, and check your PC’s exact requirements rather than assuming that a minimum-spec match guarantees good performance.
- Choose an edition by its contents and price: compare the live local price and decide whether the Deluxe extras matter to you, rather than assuming they are worth a premium.
Capcom announced that the game had sold more than 6 million units worldwide as of its March 16, 2026 announcement. This is a dated sales milestone, not a current lifetime total or a measure of whether you will enjoy the game. The same announcement reported more than 183 million cumulative sales for the Resident Evil series as of December 31, 2025; that figure applies to the franchise, not Requiem alone. See Capcom’s March 16, 2026 announcement.
