As of Rebet’s terms dated January 1, 2026, Rebet Fantasy lists California as eligible for its skill-based contests, but Rebet’s separate sweepstakes rules exclude California residents. Those are product-specific eligibility statements from Rebet, not a ruling by California regulators that every Rebet product is lawful. California’s AB 831, effective January 1, 2026, also changed the legal landscape for online sweepstakes and gambling simulators.

Which Rebet product do you mean?

“Rebet” is not a single product with one California eligibility rule. Rebet Fantasy’s terms cover fantasy contests, while separate sweepstakes rules govern a different offering. Check the rules for the specific product and contest you intend to use.

What applies to Rebet Fantasy in California?

Rebet describes its fantasy platform as offering peer-to-peer, skill-based contests in which participants predict athlete performance for an opportunity to win cash prizes. That is the operator’s description of its product; it is not, by itself, a legal determination by the state.

Under the January 1, 2026 terms, a California participant must be at least 18 and physically present in an eligible jurisdiction when participating. Account, contest, and other terms may also apply. The terms place responsibility for complying with applicable law on users, so being listed as eligible does not remove the need to follow the rules for the specific contest.

What changed under California law?

The California Gambling Control Commission says AB 831 updates state laws concerning gambling simulators and online sweepstakes, including digital platforms that simulate gambling and award or connect participants with prizes of value. The changes took effect January 1, 2026. California Gambling Control Commission: 2025 legislation.

The Commission also maintains a 2026 gambling-law reference updated through October 1, 2026, and the California Attorney General describes the state’s gambling oversight framework. Neither reviewed official resource supplies a Rebet-specific ruling. California Gambling Control Commission: 2026 gambling law; California Attorney General: Gambling.

That distinction matters: the law’s scope, Rebet’s classification of a particular product, and a final legal determination about that product are not interchangeable. The available official materials do not establish that a California court or regulator has definitively approved every Rebet offering.

How to check before participating

  1. Identify the product. Determine whether you are using Rebet Fantasy/Pikkem contests or entering a separate Rebet sweepstakes.
  2. Read the matching rules. Check the current terms and contest or sweepstakes rules for California eligibility, age, location, and any other conditions. Rebet’s homepage FAQ uses the wording “Is Rebet available in my state?”; use it as a starting point, not a substitute for product-specific rules. Rebet homepage.
  3. Confirm your circumstances. For Rebet Fantasy, the published terms require users to be physically present in an eligible jurisdiction and meet the applicable age and account requirements.
  4. Get advice for a specific legal concern. If your circumstances raise a question the rules do not resolve, consult a qualified California attorney rather than treating an operator’s eligibility listing as legal advice.

California sweepstakes consumer guidance

The California Attorney General advises consumers not to pay to enter a sweepstakes or to improve their odds, and says legitimate sweepstakes are free to enter. This is general consumer guidance; it is not a Rebet-specific legal finding. California Attorney General: Sweepstakes.
