No. PlayStation Plus is not the subscription for Forza Motorsport online multiplayer because the game is officially listed for Xbox Series X|S and PC, not PlayStation consoles. On an Xbox console, Microsoft says online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription, sold separately. PC players use the game’s Microsoft Store or Steam version; Steam identifies the title as supporting Online PvP and Cross-Platform Multiplayer.
The short answer, by platform
The answer depends on where you are playing, but none of the official listings reviewed identify a PlayStation edition of Forza Motorsport. The platform announcement from Turn 10 Studios lists Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Microsoft Store and Steam. The Xbox product page presents the same console-and-PC availability.

This distinction matters because a subscription can serve two different purposes: granting access to a game catalog and granting permission for online console multiplayer. The Xbox listing discusses both, but they are not the same entitlement.
Why PlayStation Plus is not part of this game’s requirements
Forza Motorsport is not listed for PlayStation
The official announcement, “Forza Motorsport Now Available with Xbox Game Pass,” names Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Microsoft Store and Steam. It does not name PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. The Xbox game page likewise offers Xbox console and PC information without identifying a PlayStation SKU.

That is more decisive than applying a general console rule. A platform subscription requirement only matters when the game exists on that platform. Since the reviewed official pages do not identify a PlayStation version, purchasing PS Plus cannot provide access to this title on a PlayStation console.
PlayStation’s general rule is title-specific
PlayStation Support says that most PS4 and PS5 games require PlayStation Plus for online multiplayer, while some games are exceptions. It directs players to the individual PlayStation Store listing for the definitive requirement. That guidance explains how to check a PlayStation game when one exists; it does not create a PS Plus requirement for a game that the official Forza listings do not place on PlayStation. In other words, “most PlayStation games need PS Plus” and “Forza Motorsport needs PS Plus” are different claims. The first is a general Sony policy. The second would require a PlayStation Forza listing and title-specific terms, neither of which is identified in the official material reviewed.
What Xbox players actually need
Console multiplayer and game access are separate
The Xbox product listing contains a specific notice: “Online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription (subscriptions sold separately).” This is the relevant requirement for playing Forza Motorsport online on Xbox Series X|S.

The same page also says the game can be obtained by purchase or through certain Game Pass plans. Those statements answer separate questions:
- Game access: whether you own the game or have a plan that includes it.
- Online console multiplayer: whether your account has the Xbox Game Pass subscription Microsoft requires for console multiplayer.
Having access to the game through a catalog does not, by itself, erase the separate console-multiplayer condition stated by Xbox. Conversely, a multiplayer entitlement does not necessarily mean every Game Pass plan includes the game. Check the current plan terms and the game page together before subscribing or canceling a plan.
What to check on an Xbox console
- Confirm that the console is an Xbox Series X or Series S, the Xbox platforms identified for Forza Motorsport.
- Open the current Xbox game listing and read both sections: the game-access wording and the notice that online console multiplayer requires Xbox Game Pass.
- Decide whether you will play from a purchase or from an eligible Game Pass catalog plan.
- Make sure the Microsoft account used to launch the game has the required Game Pass subscription active. Subscriptions are sold separately, as the listing states.
- If multiplayer remains unavailable, recheck the account’s subscription status and the exact edition or access method shown in the Xbox listing before troubleshooting the console or network.
The exact plan names and commercial terms can change. The quoted requirement is the stable part of the page’s current wording; pricing, catalog inclusion and plan features should be verified at the time you subscribe.

What PC players need to know
Steam confirms online features, not PlayStation compatibility
The Steam store entry for Forza Motorsport marks the game as supporting Online PvP and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. Those labels establish that the PC listing includes online competitive play and cross-platform functionality. They do not indicate a PlayStation release, and they do not turn PlayStation Plus into a PC requirement.

Use the Steam listing when checking the PC edition’s features. If you use the Microsoft Store version instead, consult the current Xbox PC listing for its access terms. The official material reviewed describes purchase and eligible Game Pass access, but it does not state that a PlayStation subscription is needed for either PC storefront.
PC access versus Xbox console access
PC and Xbox console are different platform cases even though the game is associated with the Xbox ecosystem. The Xbox statement about “online console multiplayer” is explicitly limited to console play. It should not be copied onto the PC version as a PlayStation Plus rule, nor should a PC feature label be used to infer that the game runs on PlayStation hardware.
For a PC setup, verify the storefront version you installed, the account that owns or accesses the game, and the online features shown on that storefront’s current page. If you are trying to play with people on other platforms, use the cross-platform feature information supplied by the listing rather than assuming every platform participates.

“I have PS Plus, so why can’t I launch Forza Motorsport?”
PS Plus is a Sony service. It does not substitute for ownership or catalog access to a title that is listed for Xbox and PC. Check whether you are looking at the exact game title and the correct platform storefront. The official Forza and Xbox pages identify the supported platforms; a PS Plus membership cannot add an unlisted PlayStation version.

“Steam says cross-platform multiplayer. Does that include PlayStation?”
Not necessarily. “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” on Steam confirms that the PC version supports play across supported platforms, but the label does not enumerate those platforms. The official platform announcement reviewed names Xbox Series X|S and PC, not PlayStation. Treat the Steam feature badge as evidence of the PC feature, not as a PlayStation launch announcement.
“If Game Pass includes the game, why would I need another subscription?”
Because access to a catalog and the right to use online console multiplayer are separate conditions on the Xbox page. The listing explicitly says that online console multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription sold separately, while its game-access language discusses purchase or eligible plans. Read the current terms for the plan you intend to use; do not assume that one line replaces the other.
“Can I use PS Plus on a Windows PC?”
PS Plus is not the subscription identified for Forza Motorsport on PC. The PC versions are presented through Microsoft’s PC storefront and Steam, and Steam lists the online modes directly. Check the storefront account and game-access requirements for the PC edition you installed instead.
A practical decision path
Use this sequence before paying for any subscription:

- Separate access from multiplayer. On Xbox, determine both how you obtain the game and whether the account has the Game Pass subscription required for console multiplayer.
- Check the title-specific store page. For PlayStation games generally, Sony says to use the individual PlayStation Store listing; for this title, the reviewed official listings do not identify such a listing.
- Recheck before purchase. Platform availability, catalog inclusion and subscription terms can change. The pages cited here were reviewed on October 13, 2026, so consult the live listings if you are reading this later.
What could change in the future
Platform and subscription policies are not permanent. A future announcement could add a new platform, alter catalog access, or change the multiplayer terms. If that happens, the authoritative test would be a new official Forza or platform-store listing, followed by the title-specific subscription language for that platform.
Until an official PlayStation listing appears, avoid treating forum posts, search snippets or references to other racing games as proof of a Forza Motorsport PS4 or PS5 release. Also distinguish Forza Motorsport from similarly named entries in the wider Forza series when checking a store page; the product title and platform listing must match exactly.
Bottom line
PlayStation Plus is not required for Forza Motorsport because the official sources reviewed do not list a PlayStation version.
