Yes—Panasonic is a credible TV brand, especially for viewers who prioritize cinematic picture quality, OLED contrast, broad HDR support, and capable gaming features. But the answer depends on the exact model, market, price, and whether you value brightness, built-in sound, or a particular smart-TV platform. Independent testing makes the premium Z95B OLED Panasonic’s clearest current case; evidence for newly announced 2026 models is more limited.

What Panasonic’s current lineup tells you—and what it doesn’t

Panasonic’s models and features vary by country, so a series name or specification from one region may not match what is sold where you live. Its August 18, 2026 US announcement lists six series: the Z95B OLED, W85C QD-Mini LED, W87C lifestyle QLED, W80C and W75C 4K QLED, and S65C compact QLED. The manufacturer says selected models offer features such as up to 144Hz, HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM, G-SYNC Compatible and FreeSync Premium, with Fire TV, Google TV, or Roku depending on model. These are lineup and capability claims, not independent performance results. Panasonic’s US 2026 announcement also identifies SKYWORTH USA as its authorized US market partner.

The European range announcement describes a different mix of OLED, Mini-LED, QLED, 4K LED, and 2K LED televisions, with screen sizes from 32 to 86 inches depending on series. It also lists Fire TV, Google TV, Roku, and TiVo across models. Panasonic says platform and features vary by market and series, so confirm the complete model code and specifications on the local product listing before buying. The European range announcement is not a guarantee that a named model or platform is available in another country.

How the independently reviewed models perform

Z95B OLED: the strongest premium case

The Z95B is the most convincing current example for a buyer considering Panasonic at the premium end. RTINGS identifies it as the company’s 2025 flagship and reports a Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel, Fire TV, a built-in 5.1.2 sound system, two HDMI 2.1 bandwidth inputs, VRR, and refresh rates up to 4K/144Hz. Its review reports strong performance in both dark and bright rooms, a wide viewing angle, and modern gaming features, while noting that the TV does not pass through DTS audio. Its test-bench page records an update on October 2, 2026. RTINGS’ Z95B review provides the model-specific test detail.

What Hi-Fi? also praises the Z95B’s rich, authentic color and contrast, and lists Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, and HDR10 support. Its review flags a need for careful picture setup, occasional Fire OS lag, and limited bass depth and low-level dynamics. This makes the Z95B a strong candidate for picture-led buyers who can justify its local price, rather than a universal best-value choice. What Hi-Fi?’s Panasonic recommendations list 55-, 65-, and 77-inch sizes and four HDMI inputs, two of them HDMI 2.1.

Z90B OLED: compact cinema, with sound and port tradeoffs

What Hi-Fi? recommends the 48-inch Z90B for serious movie fans seeking a compact OLED. Its guide lists 42-, 48-, 55-, 65-, and 77-inch sizes, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, HDR10, Fire OS, and two HDMI 2.1 inputs among four HDMI ports. The review praises its authentic picture and app selection, but notes occasional loss of shadow detail, middling upscaling, and a basic sound system with limited directionality and low-end heft. If immersive movie audio matters, include a soundbar in the budget. One of its HDMI 2.1 inputs also serves as eARC, which affects how many HDMI 2.1 connections remain for consoles and other devices. Read What Hi-Fi?’s Z90B review.

W90A LED: natural color, but compare brightness carefully

The W90A is a full-array local-dimming LED model with 4K resolution, four HDR formats, Fire OS, two HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K/144Hz capability, VRR, and ALLM, according to What Hi-Fi?’s review. The publication praises its natural color, three-dimensional presentation, and motion. It found the TV less bright and weaker in dark detail than competing Mini-LED sets, with middling built-in audio. That supports considering it for movies when its current local price is competitive, not assuming it is a bright-room bargain because of its technology label. The review said it was not sold in the US or Australia at the time it was published; availability may differ now. Any prices in that older review are historical, not current offers. Announced 2026 models: specifications are not a verdict

Do not transfer the Z95B’s test results to a newly announced Panasonic set. What Hi-Fi?’s early Z85C/Z86C article says the TV was not fully tested, the viewing conditions were poor for judging picture quality, sound was muted during the session, and pricing had not been provided. It reports two HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting up to 4K/120Hz, VRR, and ALLM, plus Fire TV for the UK version and Google TV internationally. Those are early reported details, not a conclusive performance or value judgement. Read What Hi-Fi?’s Z85C/Z86C preview.

Which features matter for your room and devices?

Picture and room lighting

OLED’s contrast and viewing angles can suit film watching, particularly in a darker room. For a bright room, compare the specific Mini-LED or other glare-reducing model with independent measurements and reviews. A technology name alone does not establish a TV’s brightness, reflection handling, or local-dimming quality.

HDR and source compatibility

Check the exact model for the HDR formats your streaming services and devices use. The Z95B’s support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ is useful if you want broad format coverage, but do not assume every Panasonic series shares it. If your audio equipment needs DTS passthrough, note that RTINGS reports the Z95B lacks it.

This refined light control brings greater depth to movies, sports, nature programs, streaming series, and games while helping fine details remain visible across both bright and dark portions of the picture.
  • AI 4K Colour Engine and Vivid QLED+: Panasonic's AI 4K Colour Engine refines color and picture detail scene by scene, drawing on decades of broadcast expertise to deliver a polished, natural-looking image. Vivid QLED+ advances the quantum-dot color structure for expressive shades, realistic skin tones, and rich landscapes. Together, these picture technologies give everyday television, live sports, cinematic content, and connected 4K sources a balanced presentation with clarity, color depth, and detail designed to hold attention.
  • Glare Free Ultra with Panasonic Eye Care: Enjoy a clearer picture in bright living spaces with Glare Free Ultra, which combines premium anti-glare technology, low reflection, and a wide viewing angle to reduce distracting reflections across the screen. Panasonic Eye Care adds Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and True Colour Aid to support comfortable everyday viewing while maintaining color clarity. The result is an inviting screen for daytime sports, family movie nights, streaming marathons, and gaming sessions in rooms with windows or indoor lighting.
  • Dolby Vision & Atmos with Filmmaker Mode: Dolby Vision adds depth to compatible HDR pictures with refined highlights, shadows, and color, while Dolby Atmos brings dimension and detail to movie soundtracks, music, and games. Multi HDR support also includes HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG for a wide range of entertainment. Filmmaker Mode turns off motion smoothing and preserves the original frame rate, color, and aspect ratio, helping films retain the cinematic character selected by their creators from scene to scene.

Gaming and HDMI connections

For a console or gaming PC, verify refresh rate, VRR, ALLM, and the number of HDMI 2.1 inputs on the exact model. Also check whether an HDMI port is shared with eARC: that can limit the connections available for consoles when you use an external audio system. Panasonic’s announcements advertise higher refresh rates only on selected models, and model-tested specifications matter more than a brand-wide assumption.

Smart TV platform and apps

Panasonic does not use one platform across all current TVs and markets. Fire TV, Google TV, Roku, and TiVo appear in its announcements, depending on region and model. Confirm that the actual set has the apps and interface your household uses; do not rely on a platform label from a different country’s model.

Built-in sound

Sound varies by model, and picture quality does not guarantee satisfying bass or convincing sound directionality. The Z95B has a built-in 5.1.2 system, but What Hi-Fi? still notes limits in bass depth and low-level dynamics. The Z90B’s review describes more basic sound and recommends budgeting for a soundbar if immersive movie audio matters. Decide whether the TV’s audio meets your needs before treating its price as the whole system cost.

Is Panasonic worth the price?

Judge value against the current price of the same size and class in your country, not an old review price or a launch announcement. Compare warranty and return terms alongside picture tests, audio, platform, and the connections your setup needs. A lower price can make a model with documented brightness or shadow-detail compromises worthwhile; at a premium price, the picture and features need to earn the difference against similarly sized, independently tested alternatives.

There is no broad Panasonic-specific reliability, failure-rate, or customer-satisfaction statistic established here, so picture reviews should not be treated as proof about long-term reliability. The most defensible conclusion is model-specific: the Z95B has substantial independent evidence for a strong premium picture and gaming package, while less expensive models and newly announced sets need their own price and test scrutiny.
