Roblox says those offers do not exist and are designed to obtain account information or send people to harmful links.
“Obby for Free” is not a unique game or verified service. The name can describe many unrelated experiences, so no one can declare every game with that label safe without its exact URL or Roblox experience page. The reliable test is the reward claim and the behavior it asks from you—not how convincing the game, creator, video, or login form looks.

What “Obby for Free” can mean
In Roblox, an obby is an obstacle-course experience. Developers can publish many games with similar names, and players may also use “Obby for Free” to describe a video, a website, or a social-media promotion. That ambiguity matters: a normal obstacle course is different from a page claiming it can generate Robux or unlock a limited item.

Without a specific experience link, the safest conclusion is about the claim pattern rather than one particular game. You may play an obby for entertainment, but a promise of free currency or a special code is a decisive warning sign.

Why free Robux and “secret code” promises are scams
Roblox Support states: “Any offer of free Robux, subscriptions, or valuable items is a scam.” Roblox also says there is no such thing as a Robux generator. Robux are obtained through Roblox’s supported purchase and creator routes, such as buying them through the platform or earning them by selling avatar items or building an experience. A third-party generator, verification page, or “unlock” form is not an alternative official route.
The same rule applies to claims that an obby will award a subscription, rare avatar item, or code unavailable anywhere else. A game can award an in-experience achievement under its own rules, but it cannot legitimately bypass Roblox’s systems to create currency. A countdown timer, “limited spots” message, comment full of success stories, or demand that you complete a survey does not change that.
What legitimate promotions look like
Roblox says officially supported promotions are announced through its blog, the Notifications tab in Messages, or a banner at the top of the Roblox site. Navigate to those official properties yourself rather than following a stranger’s “redeem here” link. If a promotion exists, its instructions should lead to an official Roblox login or redemption surface, not a separate generator domain.

Scam pages commonly imitate Roblox branding and then ask you to sign in, enter a one-time code, paste a browser cookie, install a “generator,” or complete a verification task. The page may be hosted on a convincing-looking domain, embedded in a video, or shown inside an experience. Appearance is not authentication.

Check the sign-in surface
Roblox says passwords should be entered only on the official roblox.com website or the login screen of an official Roblox app. An in-experience form that asks for your password is a reason to leave immediately and report the experience. The same caution applies to a browser tab opened by a link in chat, comments, a direct message, or a video description.
Secrets a legitimate helper will not request
Never give another person or a third-party form your password, browser cookies, 2-Step Verification (2SV) code, or backup codes. Roblox says its employees will not ask for these secrets. A request to “verify ownership” by sending a code is usually an attempt to take over the account while you are still signed in.
Downloads are a separate risk
Do not install a generator, executor, script, toolkit, browser extension, or “anti-ban” utility as a condition of receiving a reward. Roblox warns that exploit downloads can contain malware, including keyloggers and phishing software. A keylogger can capture passwords and other information even when the original scam page is gone.

Red flags to check before interacting
- Guaranteed free Robux: Roblox’s policy is that free-Robux generators and offers do not exist.
- A password field inside a game: leave the experience; Roblox login details belong on the official site or official app login screen.
- A request for cookies or security codes: treat these as account credentials and refuse to share them.
- Off-site “verification”: surveys, browser notifications, app installs, or downloads are not proof that a reward is real.
- Urgency and secrecy: countdowns, limited claims, and instructions not to tell parents or friends are social-engineering tactics.
- Suspicious links: a shortened or misspelled address, unexpected redirect, or link sent by an unknown account should be closed rather than tested.
- Promises tied to exploits: scripts and executors advertised as a path to free items can expose the device and account to malware.
What to do when an obby or message makes the claim
- Stop at the claim. Do not enter credentials, click additional links, or download anything to “prove” that the offer works.
- Leave the experience or close the page. Do not argue with the sender or follow instructions that keep you engaged.
- Open Roblox directly. Type the official site address yourself or use the official app, then check Messages and the Notifications tab for any promotion.
- Report the content. Roblox provides Report Abuse controls around its apps and in experience menus for suspicious messages, links, and experiences. Include the relevant account, message, or link in the report.
- Warn others without reposting the scam link. Describe the tactic or report it through Roblox rather than spreading the address in a group chat.
Account protection that reduces the damage
Use a unique password for Roblox and keep it private. Then add an additional sign-in factor and maintain a recovery route. Roblox documents 2SV and an optional Enhanced Protection mode for accounts that need stronger phishing resistance.

No method is invulnerable, and a security key does not make a malicious download safe. Choose a method your devices support, then set up recovery before you need it. Keep backup codes private and stored somewhere you can reach when your usual device is unavailable.
If you entered a password or ran a download
Act as though both the account and device may be exposed. If the computer or phone might still be infected, use a clean device for password changes.

- Remove suspicious software. Delete the downloaded generator, executor, script, or extension. Review browser extensions and remove anything you did not intentionally install.
- Run a full virus scan. Use the security software already trusted on the device and follow its quarantine or removal instructions.
- Reset the Roblox password. Choose a new password that is not reused on another service. If the same password was used elsewhere, change it there too.
- Enable 2SV. Add email, an authenticator app, or a supported security key, and confirm that your recovery methods work.
- Secure the email account. Because email can reset Roblox access, change its password if it was exposed and enable its own multifactor protection.
- Contact Roblox Support. Explain what was entered, what was downloaded, and when it happened. Keep transaction or account details that support your report.
Roblox says help recovering lost virtual items or currency is limited. A compromised-account report seeking that assistance must be made within 30 days, and the policy is not a promise that lost items or Robux will be restored.

Community reports can reveal tactics before official guidance is updated, but they do not establish how common a scam is. A Roblox Developer Forum post dated April 1, 2025 described an individual experience allegedly promising unavailable free user-generated content; that report should be treated as an unverified community account, not a Roblox finding.
An Obby Wiki community PSA also warned about repositories allegedly distributing malware disguised as obby-development toolkits. That is a warning about the reported repositories, not evidence that every repository or obby-development tool is malicious. Apply the same checks: avoid untrusted downloads, scan files, and never provide account secrets.

Is any free Robux code real?
Roblox’s published guidance is the answer: free-Robux generators and offers are scams. A code mentioned by a stranger, a video, or an obby should not be trusted merely because it has a code-like format or appears to work for someone in comments. Verify promotions through Roblox’s own blog, Messages notifications, or an official site banner, and enter information only on an official Roblox surface.
If a page says you must log in elsewhere before a code can be redeemed, close it. The demand for credentials is the scam mechanism, regardless of whether the page eventually displays a code.
Decision checklist
- Is the reward free Robux, a subscription, or a valuable item? Treat the promise as fraudulent.
- Is the login on the official Roblox site or official app? If not, do not sign in.
- Does anyone request a password, cookie, 2SV code, or backup code? Refuse and report.
- Does the offer require a download, extension, executor, script, or survey? Stop.
- Can you confirm the promotion in Roblox’s blog, Messages notifications, or site banner? If not, do not proceed.
- Did you already submit information? Remove suspicious software, scan, change passwords from a clean device, enable 2SV, and contact Support.
Bottom line
An obby can be safe as a game, but “free Robux,” “free subscription,” valuable-item, and secret-code promises are not safe offers. Roblox says they are scams. Keep credentials on official Roblox login surfaces, reject requests for cookies or verification codes, avoid suspicious downloads, report the experience or message, and use 2SV or Enhanced Protection with a working recovery method. Because “Obby for Free” can refer to many unrelated experiences, judge the exact link and its behavior rather than trusting the name.
