Is No More Room in Hell 2 Worth Buying? What to Know Before You Play

It may be worth buying if you want high-stakes, coordinated co-op zombie survival; wait or look for a sale if you need a relaxed solo campaign, want a proven smooth technical experience, or are counting on announced updates that have not shipped. No More Room in Hell 2 reached full release on August 11, 2026, after entering Early Access in October 2024. The recommendation here is based on the game’s listed features, developer updates and a dated Steam review snapshot—not hands-on testing.

What kind of game is No More Room in Hell 2?

Torn Banner Studios develops and publishes No More Room in Hell 2. Steam describes it as an eight-player online co-op zombie shooter, with cross-platform multiplayer and proximity voice chat. Its Scenario mode sends Responders across six maps in the outbreak-struck northeastern United States to complete objectives and extract supplies. The store description also identifies Survival as a mode, while the developer’s roadmap discusses separate plans for it.

The central appeal is a cooperative mission where communication and resource decisions matter: ammunition and supplies are scarce, players can become infected, and a dead character can rise against the team. A Responder can be lost permanently, including that character’s progress. Those stakes suggest a better fit for players who enjoy risk management and coordination than for someone looking for a forgiving, low-pressure shooter. The game includes mature violence and gore.

Is it worth buying now?

Steam’s English-language review snapshot, accessed October 4, 2026, showed “Mostly Positive”: 72% positive from 9,719 reviews overall. Recent reviews were “Mixed,” with 69% positive from 1,283 reviews. These figures can change, so check the live store page before deciding; they are not a guarantee of how the game will run or feel for you.

  • HOW TO PLAY: The Dealer draws a Scenario Card and reads it aloud. The other players choose two of their Action Cards and play them, facedown. The Dealer shuffles the Action Cards and picks the one they definitely would not do, saying "HELL NO!" Then, they pick the Action Card they definitely would do, saying "HELL YEAH!"
  • SITUATION: While scuba diving, your wound starts bleeding, and sharks begin to circle. What do you do?
  • ACTION: Ask for an autograph! Hell No
  • ACTION: Use your jetpack to escape! Hell Yeah
  • REPEAT PLAY: With 135 Situation Cards and 387 Action Cards you'll never run out of wild predicaments

In an August 20, 2026 post, Torn Banner acknowledged launch issues and described planned hotfixes, work to reduce character losses caused by disconnects, and controller-support refinements. Subtitles were described as under investigation in that post, not as a delivered feature. The September roadmap says the studio will continue refining map usability and the core experience. This points to ongoing work, not proof that every problem has been fixed. Read the August developer update and September roadmap for the studio’s statements.

It is a stronger fit if you want

  • Co-op where voice communication, scavenging and mission decisions are part of the challenge.
  • Persistent character progression with serious consequences for failure.
  • A game that is still being refined after launch, rather than one whose future roadmap is already delivered.

Consider waiting if you need

  • A relaxed solo campaign or a low-consequence arcade shooter.
  • Confidence that launch-era technical issues are resolved for your setup.
  • More maps or features that currently exist only as developer plans.

How much does it cost?

Torn Banner said on June 26, 2026 that the USD base price would remain $29.99 at 1.0, with the possibility of lower prices during sales. That is the publisher’s stated US base price, not a universal current total. Steam showed a temporary discounted Australian-dollar price when accessed, with the offer ending October 8; regional storefront prices and promotions differ. Check your local store page for the price at checkout.

Steam also lists paid cosmetic packs as optional digital DLC. The reviewed store information does not establish that these packs are needed for gameplay. The publisher’s price statement is in its June 2026 community questions post.

Will your PC run it?

These are Steam’s published requirements and target settings, not independently verified performance results. Both configurations require 64-bit Windows 10, DirectX 12, broadband internet and 35 GB of storage.

Minimum Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 12 GB RAM GeForce GTX 1650 (4 GB), Radeon RX 570 (4 GB), or Intel Arc 580 1080p/30 Hz on low settings with performance super sampling

What about cross-play and controller support?

Steam lists online co-op, cross-platform multiplayer, Easy Anti-Cheat, a third-party EULA and in-game online interaction. The available store information does not specify a detailed cross-play platform matrix. If you plan to play with friends on particular consoles or PC storefronts, verify that exact combination in current platform documentation rather than assuming it is supported.

Torn Banner said in June 2026 that native PC controller support was coming with the console launch and that Steam Deck and controller compatibility were being addressed. Its August post described additional deadzone and menu-navigation work. These are dated statements about active refinement, not certification of current compatibility quality on each device. Check the June community update and current player reports for your controller or handheld.

What is planned next?

The September 16, 2026 roadmap describes targets for the rest of 2026 and beyond. These are plans, not shipped features or guarantees.

  • Rest of 2026: Responder Retirement and Hell Mode, two new Survival maps, continued map refinement, new weapons and usability improvements.
  • Early 2027 target: the first new Objective mode map, with more maps planned.
  • Solo Mode: a separate progression track is intended.

The roadmap frames this work as strengthening the core experience and adding endgame goals. If one of these features is central to your decision, wait until it is available and described as shipped. See the Autumn 2026 roadmap for the studio’s latest stated plans.

Verdict: buy now or wait?

Buy now if the local price suits your budget and you specifically want demanding co-op zombie survival built around communication, scarce resources and persistent character stakes. Consider waiting for a sale or more updates if you are sensitive to launch-era technical problems, want a broader established range of maps, or are mainly interested in features that remain on the roadmap. Before checkout, review current ratings, local pricing, your PC’s requirements, anti-cheat and EULA details, and the exact cross-play setup you need.
