No public evidence establishes that Natalie Harp is jealous of Margo Martin. The speculation followed President Donald Trump’s praise of Martin at an Oklahoma rally on Oct. 1, 2026, but neither aide had publicly addressed it as of Hindustan Times’ Oct. 3 report. Harp’s presence at the event does not reveal how she felt.
What prompted the speculation?
At a rally in Durant, Oklahoma, for Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Mazzei on Oct. 1, Trump invited 31-year-old communications adviser Margo Martin onto the stage and praised her for close to two minutes. He called her a social-media “sensation” and said she was a “beautiful woman, inside and out.” Natalie Harp, described in coverage as Trump’s executive assistant, was also with the presidential entourage at the event. Hindustan Times’ report and The Daily Beast’s account describe the moment that prompted online posts speculating about tension between the aides.

Trump’s reported remarks included: “You can never say that a woman is beautiful. If you say a woman is beautiful, that’s the end of your political career. But, I’ll say it anyway: She is a beautiful woman, inside and out.” He also addressed Martin’s parents, saying, “I see why she’s good-looking, actually. You know, I believe in the racehorse theory. Fast horses, right? Great mom and dad. Thank you very much. Great job, Margo.” These are reported comments about Martin, not evidence of Harp’s reaction. The Daily Beast

- Reported event: Trump praised Martin publicly at the rally, and Harp was also present with the entourage.
- Online interpretation: Some X users framed the juxtaposition as a rivalry or suggested Harp looked uncomfortable. Hindustan Times quoted posts including “Trump gushes over ‘beautiful’ younger aide onstage as Natalie Harp looks on” and “Will Natalie Harp sink the Trump regime out of envy and jealousy of Margo Martin?” Those posts document that the speculation circulated; they do not establish Harp’s feelings or represent a measured public consensus. Hindustan Times
- Direct confirmation: Hindustan Times reported on Oct. 3 that neither aide had publicly addressed the speculation. No attributable direct comment from Harp or Martin about jealousy or tension appears in the cited coverage. Hindustan Times
The Daily Beast’s “humiliates” framing and its podcast participants’ discussion of whether Trump might pit aides against one another are commentary, not independently established facts about the aides’ relationship. The outlet also reported that White House Communications Director Steven Cheung told podcast hosts, “Joanna shouldn’t be so jealous, it’s not a good look for her.” That remark was directed at host Joanna Coles; it was not a statement by Harp or Martin and does not confirm or deny anything about Harp’s feelings. How the aides are described in reports
Hindustan Times and the Associated Press identify Harp as an executive assistant to Trump and Martin as a communications adviser. An official 2025 presidential transcript note identifies Martin as White House Communications Adviser and lists Harp among Executive Office aides. That document corroborates roles at the time of the 2025 record; it does not by itself establish their exact current titles. Hindustan Times · Associated Press · White House transcript note

In a separate Sept. 9, 2026, report, the Associated Press said annual financial disclosure forms listed $45,000 in holiday cash gifts for each of Harp, Martin, and Chamberlain Harris, and $20,000 for Walt Nauta. The AP also reported that Harp, Martin, and Harris each earned $150,000 annually and Nauta earned $175,000, citing the White House salary disclosure report to Congress. An unnamed White House official told the AP the gifts were unrelated to official duties and permissible under relevant standards. These disclosure details provide context about reported gifts and salaries; they do not establish a rivalry or either aide’s feelings. Associated Press
