Windows Central’s review of the Xbox Series X version calls NASCAR 26 one of the strongest track racers available, praising its weighty, responsive driving, close AI racing, presentation, and workable controller controls. It also finds that the game’s limited single-player variety outside Career and sparse multiplayer structure leave room to improve. That is a reviewer’s judgment, not an objective ranking of every Xbox racer.
What NASCAR 26 is, and which Xbox consoles it supports
NASCAR 26 is the official NASCAR game from iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, LLC. It launched on September 18, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam. The Xbox Series X|S edition is optimized for those consoles and lists 4K Ultra HD, 60 fps or higher, single-player, and online multiplayer for 2–40 players. That player range is a listed capability, not a report of how many people are online. Xbox lists the edition and features; NASCAR announced the release and features.

The game covers four series: NASCAR Cup, NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts, NASCAR Craftsman Truck, and ARCA Menards. Its announced modes are Career, Quick Race, Championship, Multiplayer, and The Chase. The official feature list includes evolving track conditions, a revised driving model, tire and braking updates, training, improved AI, burnout celebrations, and tracks including Chicagoland Speedway and St. Petersburg. These are official feature descriptions; they are distinct from what a reviewer independently observed in play.

How the racing feels on Xbox
In Windows Central’s Xbox Series X review, the cars feel weighty but responsive, and setup changes make a noticeable difference to how they behave. The reviewer found that cold tires call for care and that drafting matters at superspeedways. Road courses are demanding in part because the cars’ size and handling make them less nimble than purpose-built circuit racers. Read the Windows Central review.

Track conditions and tire degradation can shape a race, but the reviewer found the buildup of rubber on the track subtle at times. AI opponents can make close racing near the front, though traffic can bring irregular behavior. Those observations come from the review’s disclosed Xbox Series X play; they are not lab measurements or a guarantee that every race will play the same way.
Controller or racing wheel: which should you use?
A controller is a viable way to play, and the review found its controls customizable. You do not need a wheel to get into the game. The reviewer nevertheless preferred a wheel for the best driving experience. That is a preference, not evidence that a particular wheel model is compatible: check both Xbox compatibility and support for the game before buying hardware.

What are NASCAR 26’s main drawbacks?
- It builds on NASCAR 25 rather than reinventing the series. The review characterizes NASCAR 26 as an iteration, so players hoping for a wholesale change should temper expectations.
- Single-player variety is uneven. Career mode is the main draw for solo play; the reviewer wanted more to do outside it.
- Multiplayer is comparatively bare-bones. The game supports cross-platform racing, but the reviewer wanted stronger structures such as series and leaderboards.
- Setup options can be daunting. The depth may appeal to players who like tuning, but the reviewer found customization intimidating.
- Track evolution can be hard to notice. Rubber buildup is part of the racing model, but its effect may feel subtle.
Standard or Gold: what does each edition include?
The official FAQ describes NASCAR 26 as digital-download only; there is no physical disc. Its listed prices are storefront details recorded on October 7, 2026, and may change.
| Edition or add-on | Listed price | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $59.99 | Base game |

If you want close stock-car racing with a responsive, weighty feel and are comfortable making Career mode the centerpiece of solo play, the Windows Central review gives good reason to consider NASCAR 26. Controller play is a reasonable starting point; a wheel is optional. If you need extensive solo modes beyond a career or structured online competition with features such as series and leaderboards, the review’s caveats matter more. Consider Gold only if the 2026 Season Pass content is worth the additional cost to you.
