Meta Verified is worth paying for when its identity check, impersonation monitoring, or account support addresses a real risk for you or your business. It is a poor purchase if you expect a guaranteed boost in reach, followers, or sales. Meta removed increased reach from the creator subscription during its 2023 US test, and the business discovery claim is limited to searches that exactly match a verified business name.
Prices and plan details can vary by location, account and purchase channel. Check the current price and included features in Meta’s checkout before subscribing; the prices Meta announced in 2023 are historical, not confirmed current rates.

What Meta Verified includes
Meta Verified is a recurring digital subscription for eligible creator accounts and business assets on Facebook and Instagram. The creator plan centers on an identity badge, proactive impersonation monitoring and account support. Business plans add business authentication and features intended to help establish a brand and make it easier to find.

Identity badge and account checks
Meta described the creator badge at launch as confirmation that an account had been authenticated against government-issued ID. A badge can help distinguish the verified account from lookalikes, but it is not proof that every claim made by the account is true or an endorsement by Meta. Meta’s 2023 creator announcement describes the original verification process and subscription.

Impersonation monitoring
Meta says creator and business subscriptions include proactive monitoring for accounts that impersonate the subscriber. Monitoring may help identify a problem; it does not guarantee that impersonation will never occur or that every fake account will be removed.
Account support
The subscription offers access to account support for common creator issues, and the business offer includes account support. Meta’s announcements do not establish a response time, a particular resolution, or guaranteed live-chat availability, so do not treat support as a service-level guarantee.

Reach and discovery
Meta initially listed increased visibility and reach as a creator subscription feature, then announced on March 17, 2023 that it was removing increased reach while gathering feedback. That makes the creator plan a poor choice if reach is the main benefit you are buying.

How much does Meta Verified cost?
Meta’s current creator pricing and a current full business-tier price table are not established by the available official materials. The figures below are announcement-era prices from 2023, not verified current rates.
| Subscription | Meta’s announced price in 2023 | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Creator plan | $11.99 per month on web; $14.99 per month on iOS or Android | Meta’s original creator launch prices; current rates not confirmed. Source: Meta, 2023. |
| Business plan for one Facebook Page or Instagram account | $21.99 per month on web; $27.99 per month on mobile | Meta’s business announcement prices; current rates not confirmed. Source: Meta, 2023. |
| Business plan for a Facebook Page and Instagram account together | $34.99 per month on web | Meta’s business announcement price; current rate not confirmed. The announcement described mobile purchases as limited to one business-asset subscription. Source: Meta, 2023. |
Meta cautioned in its business announcement that prices could differ outside the United States and that customers would see local-currency pricing during sign-up. Before subscribing, compare the recurring total for the accounts you actually need and check whether the web and app purchase flows show different prices. Use the current price presented by Meta for your account and location, not an old price quoted for another market.

Who is most likely to benefit?
Creators facing impersonation or account problems
A public-facing creator may find the recurring cost worthwhile if fake profiles confuse their audience, damage their reputation, or create meaningful work for them to address. Support may also be valuable when account access or troubleshooting has business consequences. The value depends on the specific risk and on the support included in the offer shown to that account.
Businesses whose customers search by exact name
Authentication and the exact-name search placement Meta described may matter to a business whose customers often look up its precise brand name. Consider whether that use case is valuable enough to justify the recurring charge; the feature is not a general visibility or revenue guarantee.
People mainly hoping to grow an audience
If your main goal is more reach or followers, the creator subscription is not a sound purchase on the evidence Meta has provided. Meta removed increased reach from the creator offer during its 2023 US test, and the business discovery description is limited to an exact-name search scenario.
Is there a free Facebook verification badge?
Yes. In July 2026, Meta announced a separate free, selfie-based badge for eligible people on Facebook. Meta says it checks a video selfie against existing profile photos and is rolling out in phases. The option is not available for Pages or ProMode accounts, and it is not a replacement for paid creator or business Meta Verified plans.
Meta says the free badge “does not mean that Facebook endorses the user or guarantees their trustworthiness.” Check whether it is available to you if you want a basic identity signal on an eligible personal Facebook account. Meta’s July 2026 announcement describes the rollout and its limits.
Quick Recap
What to check before subscribing
- Identify the need. Decide whether you need identity signaling, impersonation monitoring, account support, or a business discovery feature. If none addresses a concrete problem, the subscription may not justify a recurring payment.
- Review the offer in your account. Check which features and assets are included for your account, location and platform. Do not assume that a feature mentioned in a past announcement is still available in your plan.
- Compare the full recurring cost. Check the current web and app checkout prices for every account or business asset you want covered, in your local currency.
- Confirm eligibility and requirements. Meta’s creator Help Center search listing says applicants must be at least 18, live in a supported country, use an eligible Facebook or Instagram account, provide government-issued photo ID and follow Meta’s rules. It also lists Advanced Protection and minimum activity requirements for the selected account, and says a person may verify up to two eligible profiles in Accounts Centre—one Facebook and one Instagram—subject to name and photo requirements. Because the listing redirected to login when checked, treat these details as an orientation, not a complete current policy. Confirm requirements in the live Meta Verified Help Center and your account’s sign-up flow.
- For a business, verify business-specific terms. Meta’s 2023 announcement described checks for account tenure and activity, two-factor authentication, business-information validation and proof of connection to the business, such as phone, email or domain verification. It also said profile-name or picture changes after verification could require further review. These are announcement-era details; confirm current requirements and change rules in your account flow.
- Set a realistic outcome. Decide whether the badge and listed protections are worth the price even if your reach, follower count and sales do not increase.
