Probably—if you’re a Batman fan, enjoy LEGO adventures, or want a big open-world game you can play solo or in local co-op. Switch 2 reviews are positive overall, but reports differ on how noticeable the stutters and slowdowns are. Buy more cautiously if smooth performance is your top priority or you dislike open worlds built around collectibles.
What kind of game is it?
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a story-led, open-world action-adventure following Bruce Wayne’s journey from origin to Gotham hero. Warner Bros. Games describes its story as drawing on Batman films, television, comics, and games, with LEGO humor; DC highlights combo-based combat, stealth, character abilities, gadgets, grappling, gliding, and driving. Warner Bros. Games’ announcement and DC’s game page outline those features.

- Nintendo Life reviewed the European version docked and scored it 8/10. It praised Gotham, humor, puzzle-platforming, and co-op, while reporting occasional frame drops, frequent stutters in busy missions, pop-in, blurry background textures, and one late-game crash while moving quickly between boroughs. It found texture issues less noticeable in handheld mode. Read the review.
- Nintendo Everything described roughly 20 hours of play, mostly docked, with three brief slowdown or frame-drop incidents: two near fire effects while docked and one during handheld Batmobile use. The reviewer reported no glitches or errors, though noted that load times may bother some players. Read the review.
- Miketendo64 also noted occasional stutter during high-speed Batmobile driving and heavy particle effects, but said it did not break immersion for that reviewer. Read the review.
Together, these reports suggest that performance hiccups are possible, especially during demanding effects or fast driving, but they do not establish a consistent rate or severity. They also do not provide a measured frame rate, resolution, battery life, or comparison with other platforms.

The game supports solo play or two-player local co-op on one system. Online co-op is not available, and Nintendo Switch Online is not required to play. Warner Bros. Games also says the game has no microtransactions requiring real money. Check the official FAQ for its co-op and purchase details.

- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Some physical LEGO DC Batman sets provide in-game unlocks. The official FAQ distinguishes vehicles that can be earned in the game from specific gold variants and a gold Batsuit exclusive to buying named sets. Treat these sets as optional collector items: the available information does not establish that they are needed to play or complete the base game. Verify the specific set, availability, and price before buying.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy it?
- Buy it at launch or full price if Batman and LEGO adventures are both a strong draw, you want a substantial Gotham setting, or local two-player co-op matters to you.
- Consider Standard first if you mainly want the campaign and base gameplay; choose Deluxe when its DLC or physical minifigure offer is worth the extra cost to you.
- Wait for a sale or more player feedback if stutter, visual compromises, or the reported crash would undermine your enjoyment.
- Look elsewhere if online co-op is essential or you prefer games with little exploration and few collectibles.
For any cross-platform comparison, weigh price in your region, edition contents, physical bonuses, and the performance evidence available for the specific version. The Switch 2 reviews cited here do not establish how it compares with other platforms.
