No official announcement confirms that Kratos will return in a new God of War game in 2029 or that the game will launch on PlayStation 6. PlayStation has announced God of War: Laufey, a Faye-led PS5 game, and Santa Monica Studio has confirmed an early-stage remake of the original Greek trilogy. Separately, GamesRadar+ reported remarks about a future Kratos-led game connected to Laufey, but its report gives no title, release window or platform.
Does a God of War roadmap promise Kratos in 2029 on PS6?
No. The consulted official announcements do not give a 2029 date or identify PS6 as a platform for a future Kratos-led game. The claim combines reported comments about a possible connected game with a specific year and console that the cited sources do not establish.

GamesRadar+ reported that Santa Monica Studio creative lead Cory Barlog described a Kratos-led game that follows and directly connects to the events of God of War: Laufey. The report does not name that game or provide a release window or target platform. Barlog’s reported remarks are not a 2029 or PS6 announcement. Read GamesRadar+’s report.
What is the next announced God of War game?
God of War: Laufey
PlayStation announced God of War: Laufey as the franchise’s next chapter. It centers on Faye, also known as Laufey, and is coming to PS5. The PlayStation franchise catalog lists its release date as February 16, 2027. Those details apply to Laufey, not to the unannounced Kratos-led game discussed in the GamesRadar+ report. PlayStation’s announcement and its franchise catalog provide the official details.

Original Greek trilogy remake
Santa Monica Studio has also confirmed that the original God of War trilogy is being remade. The studio says the project is very early in development and that it will be a while before it can share more. Its announcement gives no release date or platform, so it does not support a 2029 or PS6 claim either. Read the studio’s announcement.
What can you play now?
God of War Ragnarök is the existing Kratos-led game relevant to players catching up on the Norse story. PlayStation lists it for PS5 and PS4, with an original release date of November 9, 2022. It is not the reported future game. PlayStation’s franchise catalog lists the platforms and date.

How to read the reported Kratos connection
GamesRadar+ quotes Barlog as saying: “Kratos is in another game immediately after this [that] directly connects to the events of the Laufey game, but don’t say anything about it to anyone,” he quips. This is a report of remarks at a San Diego Comic-Con panel. It offers a reason to expect a connection, but not enough information to identify the project’s release date or hardware.

Keep the confirmed and reported details separate: Laufey is officially announced for PS5; the Greek trilogy remake is officially in development but has no announced date or platform; and the Kratos-led connected game is described in reported remarks without a title, launch window or target platform. None of those facts establishes a PS6 release or a 2029 return.
