Core i7-14700KF: the reported gaming value pick
Tom’s Hardware characterized the i7-14700KF as the value gaming choice, reporting that it delivered 97% of the i9-14900K’s gaming performance for about $80 less at the prices it cited. That is the source’s benchmark comparison, not a guarantee across every game or system. Its K counterpart, the i7-14700K, was listed at $299.99.
#1 Best Overall
- Game Without Compromise. Play harder and work smarter with Intel Core 14th Gen processors
- 20 cores (8 P-cores plus 12 E-cores) and 28 threads. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770 included
- Up to 5.6 GHz with Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 gives you smooth game play, high frame rates, and rapid responsiveness
- Compatible with Intel 600-series (with potential BIOS update) or 700-series chipset-based motherboards
- DDR4 and DDR5 platform support cuts your load times and gives you the space to run the most demanding games
Core i9-14900K or 14900KF: high-end option
The i9-14900KF was listed at $369.99, while the i9-14900K was listed at $400. The 14900KF has 24 cores—8 performance and 16 efficiency cores—and boost clocks up to 6 GHz, according to Tom’s Hardware. The source’s benchmark hierarchy also placed the 14900K ahead of the newer Core Ultra 7 270K Plus in gaming, while noting newer Arrow Lake CPUs are faster in applications. These are source-specific comparisons, not universal results.
Core i5-14400F: lower-cost choice
At the reported $161.10 Amazon price, the 14400F was the least expensive listed chip. Tom’s Hardware describes it as a gaming alternative to the 14600K with less multi-threaded capacity; it reports 10 cores (6 performance and 4 efficiency) and boost clocks up to 4.7 GHz. The cited article has questionable memory-standard wording, so do not rely on it for a memory specification; check the exact CPU and motherboard specifications before purchasing.

What is the difference between K and KF?
In the models covered here, the KF versions lack integrated graphics, while the corresponding K versions have integrated graphics. A KF processor therefore needs a separate graphics card to produce display output. If you want to use the PC without a discrete GPU, need integrated graphics for troubleshooting, or want that fallback if your graphics card fails, choose the K model instead.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCan you keep your DDR4 memory and motherboard?
Raptor Lake Refresh supports DDR4 or DDR5, but the motherboard determines which memory type you can use; a board designed for DDR4 cannot take DDR5, or vice versa. Reuse is therefore conditional on having a compatible board and the correct memory type. Tom’s Hardware reports about a 13% gaming performance reduction with DDR4 versus DDR5, but the excerpt does not give test conditions, so treat that as an attributed estimate rather than a universal penalty.

Before buying, confirm the exact processor appears on your motherboard maker’s CPU support list and that the board has a BIOS version that supports it. Tom’s Hardware also advises installing the latest motherboard BIOS to apply Intel’s Raptor Lake degradation mitigations. The required version varies by board; use the manufacturer’s support page for your exact model and follow its update instructions.

Consider one of these chips if the current price is attractive, your board supports it, and its performance and graphics trade-offs suit your use. The i7-14700KF is the strongest value candidate in the cited gaming comparison; the K variants retain integrated graphics, and the 14400F is the lower-cost option with less multi-threaded capacity. Because the reported offers date to October 5, 2026, verify the live price, stock, seller, and return terms rather than treating the snapshot as a current deal.
