Official information confirms three ways to play: the 1–6 player physical board game, browser play through Board Game Arena, and an official PC adaptation on Steam. Browser play may work on some phones, but that is different from a dedicated mobile app.
What Heat: Pedal to the Metal is
Heat is a racing game from Days of Wonder for 1–6 players aged 10 and up. A race is advertised to take about 60 minutes. Asger Aleksandrov Granerud and Daniel Skjold Pedersen designed the game, which was released as a physical product on 7 October 2022 under SKU DOW9101.

Its defining system is hand management. You select cards to determine how far your car moves, balance speed against control, and decide when a burst of pace is worth taking Heat cards. Push too hard and your engine overheats, leaving you with a slower, less flexible hand at the wrong moment.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
You may be able to open a browser-based implementation on a phone, depending on the site’s current mobile support and your device. A browser session is not the same as a native app downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
The officially documented ways to play
| Format | Players | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Physical board game | 1–6 | Complete tabletop game with the Heat racing system, Championship System and Legends module |
| Board Game Arena | Online player count depends on the platform implementation | Asmodee UK links the product page to Board Game Arena for online play in a browser |
| Steam adaptation | 1–12 | Official digital adaptation set in 1960s motorsport; it credits the same designers |
The Steam version is a PC release, not evidence of an iPhone or Android edition. Board Game Arena is the closest official route to playing online from a phone, but its experience is browser-based and can differ from a native touch-optimised app.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
How a race works
Manage speed with your hand
Players play Speed cards to set movement, jockey for position and choose whether to remain conservative or accelerate. The strongest turns are not always the fastest: entering a corner too quickly or exhausting useful cards can create a worse position on the next turn.

Take Heat without losing control
Heat cards represent the cost of pushing the engine. Taking them can win a position now, but an overheated deck makes future turns less efficient until you can manage those cards. The central question is therefore tactical rather than simply “How fast can I go?”

Build a season with the Championship System
The Championship System lets a group play a season across one game night. Before each race, players can customise their cars with Upgrade cards, changing how the machine handles the track and the risks it can absorb.
Add automated opponents with Legends
The Legends module supplies automated drivers. It supports solo play and can add opponents when a group wants a fuller grid without recruiting more human players.

How Heat compares with other racing board games
Heat stands out when you want racing to be driven by card decisions rather than a simple roll-and-move contest. For a meaningful comparison, check six points:
- Hand management: Heat makes your available cards and timing central to every lap.
- Overheating and Stress: Mistakes can affect later turns, so risk has a continuing cost.
- Solo support: Legends provides automated drivers instead of leaving a solo player to manage a full human grid.
- Player count: The tabletop game supports 1–6 players, while the Steam listing specifies 1–12.
- Race length: The physical product advertises approximately 60 minutes.
- Format: Choose the box for an in-person table, Board Game Arena for browser play, or Steam for the official PC adaptation.
