That “more than 100” figure is the publisher’s count of additions, not an independent measure of how much value every player will get from them.
The publisher lists Phantom Liberty for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC storefronts including Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW. It is not available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. On Switch 2, it is included with that platform’s Ultimate Edition rather than treated as a last-generation add-on.
Ultimate Edition
Ultimate Edition bundles the base game and Phantom Liberty with free downloadable content and the updates included in the edition at launch. The publisher announced the edition in December 2023. The 2023 release was digital worldwide, with physical versions in selected markets for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A later Switch 2 release uses a separate physical 64 GB game card as well as a digital edition.
Do not assume that every box or download code has the same contents. Check the exact platform, region, edition name, disc or card format, and whether the listing says Phantom Liberty is included. “Cyberpunk 2077” by itself can refer to the base game, while “Ultimate Edition” identifies the bundle you want for the complete package.

Why Phantom Liberty changes the buying decision
Phantom Liberty is not a cosmetic pack or a small collection of missions. It adds a Dogtown storyline, characters, side content, repeatable activities, more than 100 items, and a Relic skill tree. The expansion is therefore the main reason a new buyer should compare Ultimate Edition rather than automatically choosing the cheapest base-game listing.
The expansion still requires the base game. If you already own the base game digitally or on disc, buying Phantom Liberty separately is the logical upgrade path when its current price is favorable. If a bundle is on sale for less than the separate expansion plus the copy you already own, check the platform’s entitlement rules before purchasing; the money-saving comparison depends on your store and account, not a universal price.

Why PS4 and Xbox One are poor choices for a new buyer
The cutoff is specific and important: PlayStation and Xbox both state that their last-generation versions received their last patch on November 8, 2022 and are no longer supported. Later patches require PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, respectively, and Phantom Liberty requires those newer consoles or PC.
This is more than a question of graphics quality. Choosing a PS4 or Xbox One copy means accepting a fixed legacy version without the subsequent update path. PC requirements: check the target, not just the minimum
CD PROJEKT RED’s support table says its displayed requirements apply to Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty beginning with Update 2.0. The figures below are published targets, not a guarantee for every configuration. Driver versions, cooling, background software, mods, and laptop power limits can affect the result.

Ray tracing requires substantially more capable hardware than those non-ray-tracing rows. The published ray-tracing table reaches an RTX 4080 for its 2160p/60 Overdrive target measured with DLSS Frame Generation. Treat that as a specific high-end target, not a universal recommendation. If you want 4K, ray tracing, or Overdrive lighting, consult the live support table for the exact CPU and GPU pairing rather than extrapolating from the minimum row.
A practical PC buying check
- Identify the exact CPU and graphics card in the computer, including the laptop version if applicable.
- Verify at least 12 GB of system memory for the published minimum or 16 GB for the recommended non-ray-tracing target.
- Reserve 70 GB on an SSD; a hard drive does not match the cited storage target.
- Choose your real goal—1080p/30, 1080p/60, 4K, or ray-traced Overdrive—before comparing hardware.
- Open the current official requirements table immediately before purchase because requirements can change.
Mac and Switch 2 considerations
Apple-silicon Mac
Update 2.3 added Apple-silicon Mac support. The game is available through the Mac App Store and other PC storefronts, and some owners of compatible GOG, Steam, and Epic copies can play without buying a second copy. “Apple silicon” alone is not enough to establish compatibility: model, memory, operating-system version, and graphics capability still matter. Use the official Mac requirements for the exact machine and storefront entitlement.
Nintendo Switch 2
The Switch 2 Ultimate Edition is the portable complete package. The announced feature set includes touch-screen interaction, gyro aiming, motion controls, and Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. A physical 64 GB game card is available separately from the digital edition, and additional language packs may be downloaded separately.
The available facts establish the edition contents and controls, not frame-rate or visual equivalence with other platforms. Choose Switch 2 for portability and its input options, not on an assumption that every setting or performance characteristic matches a desktop PC or current-generation console.

Which purchase path fits your situation?
You own no version yet
Start with Ultimate Edition on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, compatible Apple-silicon Mac, or Switch 2. Confirm the exact store listing includes Phantom Liberty. If you only want the original campaign, compare the base-game price and accept that the expansion will be a separate purchase later.
You own the base game on a supported platform
Compare Phantom Liberty alone with Ultimate Edition in your local store. The expansion is the missing paid component. Update 2.3 does not require Phantom Liberty or Ultimate Edition, so do not buy the bundle merely to receive that free update.
You own the base game on PS4 or Xbox One
The old-console copy does not provide the supported update path or Phantom Liberty.
