Free to start is not the same as every item being free

Can you play without spending money?

That statement is specific to Epic’s storefront. The game’s terms describe transactions through the App Store or other platforms, so you should not assume that Epic’s payment processor, refund language or support procedure applies identically to an Apple purchase, a Steam purchase or another platform. Before confirming a transaction, read the checkout screen and the applicable store’s current terms for your region.
