It is a weaker fit if you only want one title, expect to keep playing after cancelling, or don’t have a compatible Apple device. Check that the games you want are available on your devices before you subscribe.
What does Apple Arcade include?
Apple Arcade is a subscription that provides access to a changing catalog of games without ads or in-app purchases, according to Apple. Apple’s August 11, 2026 announcement described the catalog as containing more than 200 games. Its size and selection can change; that announcement also introduced Block Blast!+ and Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles+, planned for September 3, 2026.

The catalog spans genres including action, puzzle, strategy, adventure, simulation, board, card, and sports. Apple advertises offline play and access across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K, and Apple Vision Pro, but platform support is title-specific. Apple’s August 2026 announcement lists Arcade Originals across those platforms, while App Store Greats are listed for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. Hardware, software, and regional availability can also affect what you can play. Check each game’s App Store page for compatibility with your device.

How much does Apple Arcade cost?
Apple’s U.S. product page lists Apple Arcade at $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year as of October 7, 2026. The annual price is less than twelve monthly payments at that listed monthly rate, but it commits you for longer.

Apple’s August 11, 2026 announcement offered new subscribers a one-month free trial and described a three-month offer for purchasers of a new eligible iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV, subject to terms and eligibility restrictions. Offers and prices vary by country and may change; check Apple’s current offer for your location before signing up.
Who is most likely to get value from it?
Players who want variety
If you expect to try several games during each billing period, a subscription can make more sense than paying for access while playing just one title briefly. The practical test is whether the current catalog includes games you genuinely want to play—not simply whether it contains a large number of games.

People who prefer games without ads or in-app purchases
Apple says Arcade games have no ads or in-app purchases. That can appeal to players who want to avoid ad interruptions and purchase prompts while playing.

People who play across Apple devices or offline
Arcade can suit players who use more than one supported Apple platform or want to play offline. The exact devices supported depend on the individual game, so confirm compatibility for the titles you plan to play.
Some Apple One subscribers
Apple Arcade is included in Apple One’s U.S. Individual, Family, and Premier plans. Apple’s August 2026 announcement listed those plans at $19.95, $25.95, and $37.95 per month, respectively. Compare the bundle only if you would also use its other included services; Arcade alone does not make a larger bundle worthwhile.

When might Apple Arcade not be worth it?
- You want only one game: If you’ll play just one title, compare the subscription’s recurring cost with the alternatives available for that game.
- Your desired games aren’t included or compatible: A large catalog has little value if it lacks the titles you want or they don’t run on your devices.
- You expect to keep playing after cancelling: The subscription provides access while active, not permanent ownership. Apple says Arcade games become unplayable after cancellation even if they remain downloaded.
- You don’t have a compatible Apple device: Arcade is designed for Apple platforms, and support varies by game.
Apple says iCloud-enabled progress may be available if you resubscribe, but Apple Support warns that some gameplay data may not be supported if you wait before resubscribing. Saved progress and continued access are separate: preserved progress does not let you play an Arcade game while the subscription is inactive.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →How to decide before you subscribe
- List the games you actually want. Check whether they are currently in the catalog and available for your region.
- Confirm device compatibility. Open each game’s App Store page and verify that it supports the Apple devices you plan to use.
- Estimate how often you’ll play. Consider whether you’ll use multiple games throughout the billing period or mainly subscribe for one short-term interest.
- Check household use. If you use Family Sharing, consider whether other members will play enough to add value.
- Compare billing and bundles. Weigh monthly flexibility against the lower listed annual price, and consider Apple One only if its other services are useful to you.
- Decide whether subscription access suits you. If you need to keep playing after cancelling, Arcade’s access model may not fit.
Do you need a controller?
No controller is required for Apple Arcade generally. Apple says many games support controllers and some games on Apple TV 4K require one. If you plan to play controller-supported titles or use Apple TV, check the individual game’s App Store page for the controller icon and verify compatibility with both your device and the game before buying a wireless game controller.
