Innersloth has scheduled the single-player narrative adventure for February 17, 2027. The announced platforms are PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Android and iOS. A free, limited-time demo was scheduled for October 8–15, 2026, but that preview should not be confused with a free full-game release.
Is Among Us Story: On Guard free?
No. There is no evidence that the complete game will be free, and Innersloth has not announced a final price. The June 5, 2026 reveal said pricing had not been decided; the October 8 update announced the release date and additional platforms without publishing a price. That means the correct answer is “price not announced,” not “free.”

The game itself is also not yet released. Innersloth’s announced launch date is February 17, 2027. Until that date, any free access refers to a time-limited demo or another preview, not ownership of the finished game.
Why the demo can cause confusion
Innersloth announced a LudoNarraCon demo running from October 8 through October 15, 2026. A demo is a restricted preview that lets players try part of a game during a specified event window. It does not establish that the final release will use a free-to-play model, and it does not guarantee permanent access after the event.

- Crewmate Edition Includes: See description below for complete details
- Life as a Crewmate: Complete all your tasks on the ship to win but watch out for Impostors. Report dead bodies and call emergency meetings to vote the Impostors out. Hope you chose correctly
- Play as an Impostor: Cause chaos, sneak around, and frame innocent bystanders. Winning involves killing off every Crewmate - think you’re a master of sabotage
- Customization: Choose how you want to play. Add more impostors, tasks, decrease visibility and more. All in style as you get to choose your favorite color, outfit, and hat
- Cross-platform: Play with your friends between PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, Android, and iOS
The announcement did not specify an exact closing hour or time zone for October 15. If you are checking after that date, the practical assumption should be that the event window has ended unless the current Steam listing or an Innersloth announcement says the demo was extended.
When does Among Us Story: On Guard release?
The planned full-game release is February 17, 2027. Innersloth announced that date on October 8, 2026. It is a scheduled date rather than proof that the game is already downloadable, so storefront listings may continue to show a wishlist or coming-soon status until launch.
| Date | What happened | What it means for players |
|---|---|---|
| June 5, 2026 | Innersloth revealed the game, described it as single-player and said pricing was not yet set. | No confirmed price or launch date at that point. |
| June 15–22, 2026 | The first announced Steam demo was available through June 22. | That demo period has passed. |
| October 8, 2026 | Innersloth announced the February 17, 2027 launch, expanded platform list and LudoNarraCon demo. | The current announced release plan is February 17, 2027. |
| October 8–15, 2026 | The second announced demo window. | Temporary preview access; the exact cutoff time was not stated. |
| February 17, 2027 | Planned full-game launch. | Availability and final price should be checked again near launch. |
Release dates can change, especially before a game ships. The October 8 announcement is the latest dated information in the material available for this article, so readers should verify the date on the official game listing before making a purchase or scheduling time to play.

Innersloth’s latest announcement names five platform families:
- PC
- Nintendo Switch
- Nintendo Switch 2
- Android
- iOS
These are announced platforms for the planned release, not confirmation that the finished game is currently downloadable on every one of them. The October announcement gives the operating systems and consoles but does not provide mobile device requirements, supported Android versions, supported iOS versions, store links or regional rollout details.

PC
PC is an announced platform, and the game has a Steam wishlist destination. The June demo was distributed through Steam, making Steam the clearest place to watch for future demo or release status. A wishlist entry indicates that a game is being tracked on the store; it is not a purchase license and does not mean the game has launched.
Nintendo Switch
The original Nintendo Switch is included in the announced platform list. Players who already own that console will not need to buy new hardware solely to meet the platform announcement, although the final store listing will determine the game’s download size, price and any regional restrictions.
Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 is also named separately. This matters because a Switch 2 announcement is not automatically a statement that every Switch game has identical performance, feature support or save compatibility across both console generations. Innersloth has not published those technical details in the announcements covered here.
Android
Android was added to the latest platform list. The announcement does not state minimum Android version, processor, memory, graphics capability, supported chipsets or the exact storefront through which the game will be distributed. Until those requirements appear, compatibility cannot be inferred from the operating-system name alone.
iOS
iOS is also announced, but no supported iPhone or iPad models, minimum iOS version, storage requirement or storefront timing is specified. An iOS announcement therefore confirms intended platform support without confirming that every current or older Apple device will run the game.

What kind of game is it?
Among Us Story: On Guard is a single-player narrative adventure set in the Among Us universe. It is not the original game’s online multiplayer experience with a group of players voting to eject an impostor.

You play a Guard working in a MIRA Research & Development training simulator. The official description centers on keeping a ship secure, completing tasks, finding clues, investigating incidents and murders, and deciding how to proceed through the story. The game is described as having three endings, so investigation choices and what the player discovers are important to the outcome.
How the premise differs from regular Among Us
- Player count: On Guard is designed for one player rather than a lobby of human participants.
- Structure: It is a narrative investigation with tasks and clues, not a round-based social-deduction match.
- Role: You take the Guard role in a training-simulator setting.
- Outcome: The story can reach three endings, rather than ending with a vote and a single match result.
The shared setting explains the connection to Among Us, but the format, pacing and reason to play are different. Someone looking for a new multiplayer lobby should not treat this as a replacement for the original game; someone interested in a contained mystery story may find the single-player structure more relevant.
Demo history and what access means
The June Steam demo
The first announced preview ran from June 15 to June 22, 2026 on Steam. That window has ended. Installing or wishlisting the game now does not recreate the expired event access.
The October LudoNarraCon demo
The second announced preview ran from October 8 to October 15, 2026. On October 13, the date of the availability snapshot, it was still inside the stated calendar window. However, Innersloth did not publish a precise end hour or time zone, so access could disappear at different local times or be removed without a separately stated cutoff.

How to check whether a demo is still accessible
- Open the current Steam listing for Among Us Story: On Guard.
- Look for a visible demo install button rather than a wishlist-only or coming-soon status.
- Read the listing’s event or access notice for a closing date and any region restrictions.
- If the demo is no longer listed, treat the event as over; do not assume a download found elsewhere is an official build.
- For console and mobile versions, wait for a platform-specific store listing because the announced PC demo does not establish demo availability on those devices.
A free demo may require only the platform account and compatible hardware, but the announcements do not state whether the preview has separate age, storage or account requirements. Check the live store page for those details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Price, purchasing and hardware expectations
There is no confirmed full-game price in the June or October announcements. The June statement that pricing had not been nailed down is a status update from that date, not a promise that the price will remain unknown. Innersloth could publish a price before launch, and the amount could vary by platform or region.
Do not use the existence of a free demo to estimate the eventual price. A limited preview and a paid premium release can coexist, and the available information does not establish whether On Guard will include optional purchases, downloadable content, a subscription or any other monetization model.
Hardware requirements are similarly incomplete. The announcements identify supported systems but do not give PC processor, memory, graphics or storage requirements, nor mobile device compatibility lists. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 owners should watch their respective store pages for edition details, while PC and mobile players should wait for the official technical specifications before deciding whether an upgrade is necessary.

Quick Recap
How to follow the release without missing a change
- Wishlist the Steam version if you intend to play on PC. Steam can notify you when the listing changes, although a wishlist is not a purchase.
- Check the official Innersloth announcement feed for date changes, pricing and platform-specific news.
- Monitor your console or mobile storefront for a local listing. Store pages are the authority for regional availability, currency, age rating and device requirements.
- Recheck close to February 17, 2027 rather than relying on an old screenshot or a third-party page. A scheduled release can be delayed or rolled out differently by region.
Common misunderstandings to avoid
- “The demo is free, so the game is free.” The demo is temporary and says nothing conclusive about the final price.
- “It has launched because a platform is listed.” A platform announcement describes intended support; the full release remains scheduled for February 17, 2027.
- “The June demo is still available.” Its published window ended June 22, 2026.
- “October 15 means midnight everywhere.” No exact cutoff hour or time zone was specified.
- “Every Android, iPhone or iPad will work.” Device requirements and supported models have not been published in the available announcements.
- “This is the same experience as multiplayer Among Us.” On Guard is a single-player narrative investigation with a Guard protagonist and three possible endings.
