Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsShort answer: Prime is worth it for PC gamers who already use other Prime benefits and will actually claim the monthly games or play the Luna titles included in their country. As a gaming-only subscription it is a weaker deal: the catalog rotates, cloud access depends on where you live, and nothing in Amazon’s material promises that a particular game stays available. Prices below are U.S. prices as listed by Amazon in late September 2026.
What Prime costs in the U.S.
Amazon’s Luna/GameNight article, updated September 29, 2026, lists these U.S. terms. Amazon says prices and eligibility vary by region and points readers to their local Amazon site.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
| Plan | Trial | Price (U.S., Amazon, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Prime | Not stated | $14.99 per month or $139 per year |
| Young adults (18–24) and college students | Six months | $7.49 per month or $69 per year |
| Qualifying government-assistance recipients | 30 days | $6.99 per month |
The sensible way to judge value is incremental: if you already pay for Prime for shipping, video or other perks, gaming is a free extra. If games are your only reason, the full $139 a year has to beat what you would otherwise spend on games you actually want.

Rotating downloadable PC games
Amazon says Prime members can claim a rotating selection of PC games each month through Luna, and that this continues wherever Prime is available, though exact offers may vary by country. The selection changes, so treat it as a stream of occasional finds rather than a fixed library. Amazon’s consulted material does not spell out redemption or ownership terms for every title, so don’t assume every claimed game stays playable forever. Check the launcher requirements and claim deadlines on the current claims page.

Luna Standard cloud library
In supported countries, Luna Standard is included with Prime. Amazon’s September 29, 2026 article describes more than 60 games, with examples including Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Hogwarts Legacy, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Sonic Mania Plus and Rise of the Tomb Raider. The games stream from the cloud, with no downloads or installs, on supported devices. That is a different access model from owning a PC copy: you keep access only while the game is in the catalog and you are subscribed. The catalog changes, so confirm that the titles you want are listed today.
Amazon lists Luna cloud games in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg. Outside those countries, only the monthly PC claims apply.

GameNight
GameNight is a collection of more than 25 approachable local multiplayer games within Luna Standard. Amazon says phones can act as controllers on a compatible TV and that remote players can join. It is aimed at social, living-room play, so it adds little for a solo PC player.

Twitch
Amazon’s help page says Prime Gaming includes a monthly Twitch channel subscription where available, plus other Twitch benefits. It is worth something only if you regularly support a streamer. Eligibility varies by country.
Rank #3
- Next-gen 12,000 DPI HERO optical sensor delivers unrivaled gaming performance, accuracy and power efficiency
- Advanced LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse for super-fast 1 ms response time and faster than wired performance
- Ultra-long battery life gives you up to 250 hours of continuous gaming on a single AA battery

Do you need a controller?
Not necessarily. GameNight works with a phone, and Amazon’s FAQ says supported Bluetooth controllers can be paired for Luna. Action and adventure titles in the cloud library are far more comfortable with a gamepad, but check compatibility with your device and chosen games before buying one.
Who should and shouldn’t subscribe
Prime is a good fit if
- You already pay for Prime and would otherwise ignore the gaming extras.
- You live in a Luna country and the current catalog includes games you’d play.
- You are happy to stream, and have a connection that suits it.
- You qualify for the student, young-adult or assistance pricing.
Look elsewhere if
- You want a stable library you can count on, or want to own your games.
- You live outside the Luna countries and the monthly claims don’t interest you.
- Gaming is the only Prime benefit you’d use.
Alternatives to compare
No single alternative suits everyone, and competitor prices and catalogs change often, so compare on the same axes rather than trusting a ranking:

- Catalog: which of the titles you want are included right now.
- Access terms: whether games vanish when you cancel or leave the catalog.
- Country and device support.
The main routes are buying individual games on sale (best if you know what you want), other PC game subscriptions or cloud services (check each one’s current terms), and free-to-play titles or storefront giveaways (offers vary over time).

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Amazon’s own pitch, in context
Amazon reports that 95% of Prime households include someone who loves games (Amazon, 2026). That is a company figure, not an independent estimate. Jeff Gattis, general manager of Amazon Luna, said in the same article: “Luna is purpose-built to remove the historical barriers to gaming. There’s no need to purchase costly, dedicated PC or console hardware. No downloads or installations required.” This is promotional language. No independent study of the typical dollar value of Prime’s gaming benefits turned up, so any savings figure would be an estimate of your own.

- Pentakill, 5 DPI Levels - Geared with 5 redefinable DPI levels (default as: 500/1000/2000/3000/4000), easy to switch between different game needs. Dedicated demand of DPI options between 500-8000 is also available to be processed by software.
- Any Button is Reassignable - 11 programmable buttons are all editable with customizable tactical keybinds in whatever game or work you are engaging. 1 rapid fire + 2 side macro buttons offer you a better gaming and working experience.
- Comfort Grip with Details - The skin-friendly frosted coating is the main comfort grip of the mouse surface, which offers you the most enjoyable fingerprint-free tactility. The left side equipped with rubber texture strengthened the friction and made the mouse easier to control.
- 5 Decent Backlit Modes - Turn the backlit on and make some kills in your gaming battlefield. The hyped dynamic RGB backlit vibe will never let you down when decorating your gaming space, it would be better with other Redragon accessories with lights on.
- Fatigue Killer with Ergonomic Design - Solid frame with a streamlined and general claw-grip design offers a satisfying and comfortable gaming experience with less fatigue even though after hours of use.
The Bottom Line
Keep Prime for its other benefits and treat gaming as a bonus. Subscribe only for games if the current Luna catalog or monthly claims contain titles you’d otherwise pay for, and your country is supported.
