Who was Syracuse’s expected starter against UConn?
Steve Angeli was Syracuse’s announced starter for 2026. Coach Fran Brown named him QB1 on August 24, before the season opener, and the announcement described Odom as part of the quarterback depth behind him. Syracuse Athletics’ announcement

Was Amari Odom expected to play?
A contemporary Yahoo Sports report said Brown planned to start Angeli against UConn and use Odom as well. Because the report could not be directly accessed, treat that detail as a reported plan rather than an official game-day confirmation. Yahoo Sports report

Syracuse’s announcement noted Angeli had been cleared without restrictions during training camp after a season-ending injury the previous year. That provides context for the starter announcement, but it does not establish why Odom was listed second or predict how the quarterbacks would be used against UConn. The same announcement described Odom as a former all-conference player.
Did Angeli take the first snap?
The available evidence establishes Syracuse’s announced and expected starter, not the quarterback who actually took the opening snap. The game was scheduled for noon Eastern in Storrs on October 3, 2026, and the available reporting timestamp, 16:16:59 UTC, was shortly after the scheduled kickoff. Neither the cited depth chart nor the available live-score result confirms the first snap.
