Yes—AION 2 is listed as free to play on Steam, so the global PC release does not require an upfront purchase. Free access does not mean every feature is free: NC has described optional memberships, passes, cosmetics and premium-currency exchange, while a report on its global plan says Membership is required to use the player Market and Kina–Quna Exchange. Steam lists October 5, 2026 as the global PC release date; availability and terms can change, so check the live listing and in-game offers for the current status.
Which AION 2 service does this apply to?
AION 2 has regional and global service contexts, and their announcements should not be treated as interchangeable. NC announced the Korea and Taiwan launch for November 19, 2025. Steam lists the global PC release for October 5, 2026, and describes the game as free to play. The Steam listing is the relevant source for global PC access and its displayed release status: AION 2 on Steam.

NC’s September 2025 announcement describes the business model for the Korea and Taiwan service. It is useful context for the types of monetization NC announced, but it does not establish the current global service’s exact terms. See NC’s September 12, 2025 announcement.
What can players spend money on?
Membership
Membership is the most consequential distinction between free entry and access to all service features. AION 2 Hub’s July 2026 report, which summarizes NC’s global business-model notice, says an active Membership is required for player Market trading and the Kina–Quna Exchange. The report gives a price of $15 per month and mentions access to a special shop and additional gameplay benefits, but does not specify those additional benefits. Because this price and feature description come from a secondary report and service terms can change, confirm the current offer in NC’s notice or in game before relying on them: AION 2 Hub’s global business-model report.
#1 Best Overall
- Pentakill, 5 DPI Levels - Geared with 5 redefinable DPI levels (default as: 500/1000/2000/3000/4000), easy to switch between different game needs. Dedicated demand of DPI options between 500-8000 is also available to be processed by software.
- Any Button is Reassignable - 11 programmable buttons are all editable with customizable tactical keybinds in whatever game or work you are engaging. 1 rapid fire + 2 side macro buttons offer you a better gaming and working experience.
- Comfort Grip with Details - The skin-friendly frosted coating is the main comfort grip of the mouse surface, which offers you the most enjoyable fingerprint-free tactility. The left side equipped with rubber texture strengthened the friction and made the mouse easier to control.
- 5 Decent Backlit Modes - Turn the backlit on and make some kills in your gaming battlefield. The hyped dynamic RGB backlit vibe will never let you down when decorating your gaming space, it would be better with other Redragon accessories with lights on.
- Fatigue Killer with Ergonomic Design - Solid frame with a streamlined and general claw-grip design offers a satisfying and comfortable gaming experience with less fatigue even though after hours of use.
NC separately said in June 2026 that the Korea and Taiwan service’s former three-tier membership structure had been consolidated into one Special Quai Membership, with improved benefits at a reduced price. That announcement did not state the revised price or enumerate the benefits, so it should not be used to infer the current global Membership price or features. Details are in NC’s June 26, 2026 announcement.
Passes and shop purchases
NC’s September 2025 announcement for Korea and Taiwan described passes and purchases such as costumes, weapon skins, pets and wings, as well as an exchange of in-game currency for premium currency. For the global service, AION 2 Hub describes an in-game shop with appearance items and consumables, and a Daeva Pass with a free Standard track and a paid Premium track. It says rewards may include cosmetics, items, upgrade materials and other currencies. The available description does not establish whether those materials affect gear progression, so the pass should not be described as cosmetics-only—or as pay-to-win—on this evidence alone.

Kina and Quna
In the global-plan report, Kina is the gameplay-earned currency used in the Market, while Quna is premium currency. The reported Membership requirement applies to the player Market and Kina–Quna Exchange; free-to-play status by itself should not be read as a promise that these economy features are available without Membership.

What NC’s revenue figures do—and don’t—tell players
NC reported KRW 100 billion in cumulative revenue within 46 days of the November 19, 2025 launch, by January 3, 2026, and said more than one million characters had purchased memberships during that period. These are company-reported figures for the launched service, not a global-only result, a count of distinct people, or evidence of how much an individual player needs to spend. NC’s figures are in its January 7, 2026 announcement.

What to check before deciding whether to spend
- Check the Steam listing for the global PC release status and free-to-play designation.
- Read the current Membership offer in the correct regional service; the reported global price and feature list may change.
- Check whether Market trading and the Kina–Quna Exchange are available to your account without an active Membership.
- Inspect the current Daeva Pass rewards and item descriptions instead of assuming that all paid rewards are cosmetic.
AION 2 is free to start on Steam, but optional purchases and membership-gated economy features mean “free to play” does not mean every feature is free. The sources do not establish enough about the progression impact of paid rewards to support a definitive pay-to-win verdict.
