What the HRU19K1 is—and what it is not
The HRU19K1 Buffalo Buck is a legacy, 19-inch-class petrol push mower intended for domestic use in Australia. Honda documentation identifies a GCV160 four-stroke engine. It is not the same generation as the current HRU19: the newer model has different specifications and features, so do not use its listing to assess a K1.

Honda’s archived HRU19K1 brochure describes an engine-brake system that, Honda says, “stops the blades and engine within three seconds of releasing the handle.” That is a manufacturer feature claim, not an independent test result.

These K1 figures come from Honda’s owner manual and service record booklet; its publication date is not established in the accessible listing. Check the identification plate and the manual for the exact machine before relying on model-specific parts or service information.

What owner reviews say
ProductReview.com.au marks the HRU19K1 discontinued. Its listing showed 46 reviews and a 3.8 overall rating when accessed on 7 October 2026. Those are user-generated platform figures, not a manufacturer statistic, population-wide reliability rate or controlled comparison.
Individual accounts range from praise for continued starting and long-term use to complaints; one review title calls out the choke setup, while another praises build quality and operation. These are owners’ experiences, not proof that every mower starts reliably or that a particular fault is widespread. Read the owner reviews as anecdotal context, then assess the specific mower you are considering.

How it compares with the current HRU19
Honda’s current HRU19 is positioned for medium residential lawns. Its Australian specifications list a GCV170, 470 mm cut, 54 L catcher, 16–80 mm cutting-height range, 33 kg weight, push propulsion, cast-aluminium chassis and mulching capability. These are current HRU19 specifications, not HRU19K1 specifications.

K1 data is from Honda’s legacy brochure and owner manual; current HRU19 data is from Honda’s HRU19 specifications and product page. The product page displayed an RRP of A$1,049, stated accurate as of 1 August 2025; Honda says prices may change. That is not a K1 price or a verified current price, so recheck with Honda or a local seller.

What to check before buying a used K1
Because the model is discontinued, evaluate the individual mower and confirm local parts and service options before paying. A useful inspection checklist is:
- Identity: Confirm the model marking is HRU19K1 rather than a newer HRU19 variant.
- Condition and history: Ask about maintenance, storage and repairs; inspect for visible damage and signs of neglect. The cited sources do not establish a universal pass/fail test for a used unit.
- Cutting system: Check blade condition and fitment. Honda’s troubleshooting guidance lists incorrect cutting height or incorrect blades among possible causes of poor cutting or bagging.
- Catcher: Inspect the catcher for damage and confirm it is the correct part; its original stated capacity is 60 L.
- Parts and service: Ask Honda or a qualified dealer to confirm availability and compatibility for the exact model before purchase.
- Warranty: Do not assume a used K1 remains covered. Any eligibility depends on original purchase date, proof of purchase, private or commercial use, geographic terms and Honda’s applicable conditions.
For blade searches, “Honda HRU19K1 mower blades” is a useful model-specific query, but confirm compatibility with Honda or a qualified dealer rather than relying on a listing title alone. Honda’s HRU19K1 troubleshooting page recommends checking the cutting-height setting and correct blade type when mowing or bagging performance is poor. For safety-critical servicing or uncertainty about a part, consult the applicable owner manual or an authorised dealer rather than improvising repairs.

Warranty and support: verify the details
Honda’s archived K1 brochure stated a four-year domestic warranty for the brochure-era product. That historical statement does not establish coverage for a mower being sold now. Honda’s Australian warranty terms distinguish purchases from 1 September 2025 from those before 31 August 2025, and the current terms list newer HRU19M2 products—not the HRU19K1. Check the relevant terms for purchases from 1 September 2025 or terms for purchases before 31 August 2025, then ask Honda to assess the mower’s original purchase records and circumstances.
