Google has not confirmed a next-generation Google TV Streamer with far-field microphones, presence sensing, or a new remote. The confirmed streaming box remains the Google TV Streamer (4K). Google has announced new Gemini software features for Google TV, while reporting about microphones and proximity sensing has focused on Google TV’s broader direction and prospective television hardware—not a successor streaming box.
What is confirmed about the next Google TV Streamer?
Nothing in the official product information or announcements cited here confirms the title’s proposed hardware. Google’s documented device is the Google TV Streamer (4K), announced on August 6, 2024. The available sources do not establish a successor’s specifications, price, release date, or regional availability.

The distinction matters: new features for the Google TV platform can reach partner televisions and existing devices without Google announcing a new streaming box.

What the current Google TV Streamer (4K) includes
Google describes the current Streamer as a device that brings together streaming services and personalized recommendations, with 4K playback, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. It connects to a TV or display over HDMI. Google also describes it as a Thread border router and a hub for Matter and Google Home devices. Google TV Streamer product information

- See movies and TV shows from all your services right from your home screen[2]; and find new things to watch with tailored recommendations for everyone in your home based on their interests and viewing habits

At launch, Google said the Streamer had 32 GB of storage and a CPU that was 22% faster than the preceding Chromecast with Google TV. Those are comparisons and specifications for the 2024 model, not a rumored successor. Google’s August 2024 announcement reported a U.S. preorder and a $99.99 launch price; that historical price does not establish today’s price or the price of any future device. The current remote already has a microphone
The Google TV Streamer Voice Remote has a microphone for voice search, a customizable button, and a Find My Remote feature. Google says it works with the Google TV Streamer (4K) and Chromecast with Google TV. That establishes the features of the current remote, not a redesigned or next-generation remote. What the microphone and presence-sensing reports actually describe
A January 6, 2025 TechRadar report discussed Gemini, far-field microphones, and proximity sensing as part of Google’s future Google TV direction. It described the hardware needs in the context of future TV experiences and prospective partner television hardware, and noted that those needs made the features unlikely to arrive on the then-current Streamer. It did not confirm that Google was developing a new Google-branded streaming box with those sensors. TechRadar’s January 2025 report
Separately, StreamTV Insider reported a 2025 statement from Shalini Govil-Pai, Google’s VP and GM of Android TV: “Those are the two big aspects that we’re leaning on for these next set of launches…an always on TV and one that comes with a far-field microphone.” The statement concerns Google’s TV direction and upcoming launches; it does not name a Google TV Streamer successor. Google’s Gemini announcement is software news, not a hardware launch
At CES on January 5, 2026, Google announced Gemini features for Google TV: visually rich answers, Google Photos search and creative tools, and natural-language controls for picture and sound settings. Google said the rollout would begin on select TCL devices, then reach other Google TV devices over the following months. Availability is limited by device, country, and language; check Google’s current eligibility details rather than assuming a feature is available on every TV or Streamer. The announcement does not announce a successor box. Google’s CES 2026 announcement

What Google’s platform reach does—and does not—show
StreamTV Insider attributed a figure of 300 million monthly active devices in 2025 to Shalini Govil-Pai. This is a Google TV platform reach figure, not a sales total for the Streamer, a market-share figure, or proof that Google plans to release new box hardware. StreamTV Insider
