Maybe—for neighborhood rides, paved paths, and smooth park trails, if the bike fits your child and its weight is manageable. The Goplus kids’ mountain bike lists six speeds, a front suspension fork, and dual V-brakes, but those features alone do not establish that it is a premium or technical-trail bike. Its manufacturer-listed price is currently $165.99, with the product marked sold out; a separate listing cited $179.99, so $180 should not be treated as a verified current price.

Will it fit your child?
Start with the child’s actual fit, not wheel diameter alone. The listed height ranges overlap: a child between 56 and 60 inches falls within both stated bands. Those ranges can help narrow the choice, but they do not settle fit. Consumer Reports recommends checking standover clearance and proper adjustment; also make sure the child can reach the handlebars comfortably and operate the brake levers. Consumer Reports: children’s bike fit.

Weight deserves particular attention. Consumer Reports offers a general rule of thumb that a child’s bike should weigh no more than roughly one-third to one-half of the child’s weight. The manufacturer lists this bike at 29 lb or 31.5 lb, so compare the appropriate model’s weight with your child’s before buying. Those are manufacturer-listed weights, not independently measured figures. Consumer Reports’ guidance; Goplus specifications.
Do the suspension and six speeds make it a trail bike?
Suspension
A front suspension fork can cushion bumps, but its presence does not show how well it works for a particular child. Goplus does not state the fork’s travel, spring rate, or adjustment for rider weight on the cited product page. REI notes that some children’s mountain bikes use front suspension to soften bumps, but that general point is not a performance test of this model. REI’s guide to kids’ bikes; Goplus product page.

Gearing
Six speeds may help on hills or varied routes, but gears only add value if the child can use them comfortably. REI notes that single-speed bikes are simpler and lighter, while gears may be useful on hilly or varied terrain. Trek’s Wahoo 1×9 is an example of a kids’ bike described as supporting climbing and learning to shift; that does not establish the Goplus’s gear range or control quality. REI’s guide; Trek Wahoo.
The available product descriptions support calling the Goplus a bike marketed for varied surfaces, not a proven choice for repeated rough or technical trail riding. There is no independent exact-model durability assessment or real-world suspension evaluation in the cited material. Treat smooth paths and demanding trails as different use cases.

What to check before buying
- Fit: Have your child try the bike where possible; check standover clearance, comfortable reach, and brake-lever operation.
- Weight: Compare the model’s manufacturer-listed weight with your child’s weight and ability to handle the bike.
- Brakes and setup: Confirm that the brakes are correctly assembled and adjusted and that your child can operate them. A feature list is not a substitute for a setup check.
- Riding surface: Decide whether the bike is mainly for neighborhood streets, paved paths, and smooth park trails or for frequent rough trails.
- Service: Check what assembly and adjustments are available from the seller. REI says it offers one year of free adjustments for bikes bought from REI; that service does not apply automatically to a Goplus purchase. REI REV listing and service details.
- Helmet: Include a properly fitted children’s bicycle helmet in the safety check.
How to compare it with another kids’ bike
Compare the options on the factors that affect your child’s use—not on the length of each feature list. Trek’s Wahoo page is an example of an off-road kids’ model with a purpose-described setup; REI’s REV listing is a retailer example that states fit information and adjustment service for REI purchases. These examples do not establish equivalent independent durability data or total ownership costs.
