The YASHICA Crew is listed at 126 g and 25.7 mm thick when powered off. Whether it feels as natural to carry as a phone or wallet depends on the pocket, the camera’s shape, and what the quoted weight includes.
The Crew is currently a pre-order, with shipping scheduled from the week of 26 October 2026. The 126 g figure is a manufacturer specification, not an independently measured daily-carry result, and the product page does not say whether the removable battery is included.

What the 126 g specification actually tells you
The camera matching this question is the YASHICA Crew compact digital camera. Its official product page lists a 126 g weight and a powered-off thickness of 25.7 mm. Those are useful starting points, but they answer only part of the carry question.
Most importantly, YASHICA does not state whether the 126 g includes the removable 700 mAh lithium-ion battery. If the figure is for the camera without its battery, the weight you feel in daily use will be higher. A memory card, wrist strap, protective case, or other accessory also belongs in the real carry total if you plan to use one. The reviewed specification does not provide weights for those items.

YASHICA promotes the Crew by saying it “weighs just 126 grams and slips easily into your everyday carry.” That is a marketing claim, not a test of pocket comfort, durability, or responsiveness. No independent hands-on daily-carry or image-quality evaluation has been established for this model.
Is 126 g genuinely light for a camera?
In practical terms, 126 g is a low mass for a standalone digital camera. As context, Canon lists the older PowerShot ELPH 100 HS at 121 g for the camera body only. The five-gram difference shows that this is a familiar compact-camera weight class, but it is not a direct apples-to-apples comparison: Canon labels its figure as body-only, while YASHICA does not clarify battery inclusion.
There is no scientifically established “daily-carry camera threshold” at 126 g, 150 g, or any other number. People tolerate weight differently, and a camera’s dimensions and hard edges can matter more than a few grams. A 126 g camera that is thick, angular, or loose in a pocket may feel less convenient than a heavier, flatter model.
Will it fit comfortably in a pants pocket?
The Crew’s listed powered-off thickness is 25.7 mm, or just over 2.5 cm. That is the dimension most likely to determine whether it disappears into a jeans or trouser pocket. However, the product page does not provide enough dimensional information to promise a comfortable fit in every pocket, and pocket openings vary considerably between clothing brands and cuts.

Evaluate pocket fit as a movement problem rather than a scale problem. A camera may fit while standing but become uncomfortable when you sit, climb stairs, or place your hand in the same pocket. The lens mechanism, screen hinge, corners, and any strap attachment can create pressure points even when the total mass is modest.
- Check that the pocket opening is wider than the camera’s widest point, not merely its thickness.
- Walk, sit, and bend with the camera in the pocket.
- Notice whether the camera rotates into an awkward position or presses against your leg.
- Test whether keys, a wallet, or a phone must share the same pocket.
- Try the camera in the pocket you actually use, because front jeans pockets, chinos, cargo pockets, and jacket pockets behave differently.
A jacket or small bag may make the Crew effortless to carry even if a tight front trouser pocket does not. The right answer is therefore personal: 25.7 mm makes pocket carry plausible, but it is not proof that every pair of pants will work.
Calculate the real carry weight, not just the headline number
Before deciding, make a complete carry list. Start with the 126 g manufacturer figure, then confirm whether the 700mAh battery is installed when you weigh the camera yourself. Add the memory card and any case or strap you would leave attached. If you carry a spare battery or USB-C cable, include those too.

- Ready to shoot: camera, battery, and memory card.
- Protected: ready-to-shoot camera plus the case or pouch you would use every day.
- Full kit: protected camera plus strap, spare battery, or charging cable.
Record the result and compare it with the objects you already carry. This avoids treating a bare-camera specification as if it represented your complete setup. Because the official page does not settle battery inclusion, an owner’s measurement is more informative than the promotional number for this specific decision.
What the Crew could add beyond a phone
Weight matters only if the camera earns a place in your pocket. The Crew lists a retractable 6X optical zoom, a 180-degree flip-up screen, a 13MP native sensor, JPEG output up to 36MP, and video recording up to 4K. Those features could make it more versatile for some everyday subjects than a phone with a fixed perspective, especially when you want optical reach or a screen that faces you for self-recording.
They do not, by themselves, establish image quality, autofocus speed, low-light performance, stabilization, startup time, or battery endurance. A higher stated JPEG resolution is not the same as a higher native sensor resolution, and a 4K label does not describe frame rates or quality settings. Treat the listed features as potential utility, not proof that the camera will produce better pictures than your phone.

Daily handling matters as much as mass
MPB’s October 2026 guide to everyday-carry compacts evaluates cameras using image quality, a “survival factor” for daily life, and how fun they are to shoot. It also identifies pocketability, image quality, and zoom flexibility as key decision points. Those criteria explain why a lightweight camera can still fail as an everyday tool: if it is slow to operate, awkward to protect, or uninspiring to use, it may stay at home.
For the Crew, independent evidence on those handling questions is not yet available. The product is still listed for pre-order, so there is no established track record showing how its retractable lens, flip-up screen, controls, or finish withstand months of pocket use. Do not interpret the 126 g figure as evidence of ruggedness.
Once you can handle a unit, pay attention to the actions that determine whether you will bring it along:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- How quickly it powers on and becomes ready to shoot.
- Whether the lens retracts fully before you put it away.
- Whether the zoom control can be operated one-handed.
- How easily the screen opens without catching on fabric.
- Whether buttons are easy to find by touch but unlikely to be pressed accidentally.
- How secure the battery door and card compartment feel.
A practical pocket-and-use test
When a retail camera is available, run this test before committing to daily carry. It separates measurable convenience from assumptions based on the specification sheet.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Measure the complete setup. Weigh the camera with the battery and card installed, then repeat with your case and strap.
- Check the pocket. Put the complete setup in the pocket you normally use. Confirm that the pocket closes or remains secure and that the camera does not catch on the opening.
- Move normally. Walk for at least 15 minutes, sit down, stand up, bend, and climb stairs. Note pressure, swinging, and interference with your phone or wallet.
- Retrieve it repeatedly. Take it out and return it to the pocket with one hand. A camera that is light but fiddly may not survive real social use.
- Make representative photos. Try a nearby subject, a distant subject using the optical zoom, a self-framed shot, and an indoor scene. Check whether the camera responds quickly enough for the moments you care about.
- Repeat after a full outing. Carry it for several hours, not just a five-minute trial. Your final decision should reflect fatigue, pocket pressure, and whether you actually reached for it.
Who is most likely to appreciate 126 g?
Good fit for a light everyday camera
- People who want a separate camera but dislike carrying a traditional interchangeable-lens kit.
- Users who value a 6X optical zoom or a flip-up screen for specific everyday subjects.
- Photographers with a jacket pocket, roomy trouser pocket, or small bag available.
- Anyone willing to verify the complete battery-and-accessory weight rather than relying on the headline number.
Reasons to hesitate
- You need a guaranteed jeans-pocket fit and cannot test the camera first.
- You carry a phone, wallet, keys, and other items in one tight pocket.
- You expect proven durability or image quality before buying.
- You want a camera that is immediately available; the Crew is listed as a pre-order with shipping scheduled from the week of 26 October 2026.
How to interpret the Canon comparison
| Camera | Published weight | Qualification | Useful conclusion |
|---|---|---|---|
| YASHICA Crew | 126 g | Manufacturer figure; battery inclusion is not stated | Shows a compact, low-weight design, but the complete carry load must be verified |
| Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS | 121 g | Canon specifies camera body only | Provides historical context for the weight class, not a total-weight comparison |
Because the two figures use different qualifications, subtracting 121 from 126 and calling the result a real-world difference would be misleading. The comparison is useful only as context: compact cameras around this mass are technically plausible, while the contents of each manufacturer’s measurement still matter.
Availability and what remains unproven
As of the listed product information, the Crew is a pre-order rather than a camera with a broad independent ownership record. YASHICA schedules shipping from the week of 26 October 2026, and its specifications or availability may change. That timing matters if you need a dependable everyday camera immediately.
No hands-on testing has established whether the Crew is comfortable in a specific pants pocket, how it performs in low light, how long its battery lasts, or how well it survives daily handling. Those are open practical questions, not reasons to assume failure; they are simply questions the 126 g specification cannot answer.

The decision in one sentence
At 126 g, the YASHICA Crew is light enough to make everyday carry realistic for many people, and its 25.7 mm powered-off thickness makes pocket testing worthwhile. Buy the idea only after confirming the battery-inclusive weight, checking the camera in your actual pocket, and deciding that its zoom and screen features justify carrying a second device alongside your phone.
