8×8 Work is 8×8’s cloud phone and unified communications service, combining business calling with meetings, messaging, and collaboration. It can suit teams that want those tools in desktop, mobile, and web apps, but the right fit and final cost depend on the specific product and license quoted. 8×8’s current pricing page directs buyers to request a quote rather than publishing a complete universal per-user price list.
What does 8×8 provide?
8×8, Inc. offers a broader communications platform, not one interchangeable phone plan. 8×8 Work is the unified communications product for business phone service, video meetings, messaging, and collaboration. The portfolio also includes Contact Center, Engage, Communications APIs, and Microsoft Teams solutions. Compare those products only when their capabilities match your needs; a quote or entitlement for one should not be assumed to include another. 8×8’s product and pricing page presents these as distinct offerings.

What can 8×8 Work do?
8×8 describes Work as a cloud unified communications application available on desktop, mobile, and web. Its published feature list includes business calling, video meetings, messaging, voicemail transcription, internet fax, call recording, browser click-to-dial, analytics, and integrations. Which features a person receives depends on the assigned license, and specifications can change. The official feature list is the place to verify the current scope against a proposed license.
For phone-system administration, 8×8 positions its service as a cloud PBX with centralized administration, voice analytics, desktop and mobile collaboration, business-app integrations, and resilient infrastructure. Its feature page says calls are secured using TLS and SRTP. 8×8 also publishes a 99.999% uptime SLA for the 8×8 Platform for CX, describing four levels of redundancy. That is a vendor-stated SLA claim, not independent measurement of achieved availability; check the applicable SLA and remedies in the contract. 8×8 feature and SLA information.

How much does 8×8 cost per user?
There is no complete, universal current per-seat price established on 8×8’s official pricing page: it describes configurable packages and asks prospective buyers to request a quote. The price for a business depends on the selected service, license scope, usage, geography, contract terms, and applicable fees. Ask for a written quote that identifies each of those assumptions rather than treating a third-party estimate or a displayed rate for a different product as your likely bill. 8×8 Pricing & Packages.
8×8’s reviews page displays $95, $105, and $133 per user per month for X6, X7, and X8, respectively, while describing those tiers in a contact-center context. These figures are not a universal price list for 8×8 Work or a promise of what a particular buyer will pay; confirm current availability and terms directly in a live quote. 8×8 Reviews.

Allow for costs beyond the license
When comparing quotes, review the total bill, not only the monthly service line. 8×8’s bill explainer identifies usage, taxes and fees, equipment and shipping, charges for unassigned direct-dial numbers, and contact-center overages as items to check. Equipment and shipping may be billed separately. 8×8’s bill explainer, published October 2 and updated October 5, 2026.

Are calling and international minutes unlimited?
Do not assume every license includes unlimited calling to every destination. 8×8’s X-Series calling terms distinguish business telephony licenses X1/X2/X3/X4 from contact-center licenses X6/X7/X8. For X6/X7/X8, 8×8 Support describes a pooled fair-use allowance of 4,000 inbound and outbound minutes per user per month; additional minutes are billed at standard rates, and toll-free calls are metered at standard rates. This allowance is specific to those stated contact-center licenses, not a general entitlement for all 8×8 customers. The article was updated January 12, 2026. Calling Countries for X-Series Licenses.

Which integrations and endpoints should you check?
Integrations
8×8 lists integrations involving Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Zendesk, NetSuite, Zoho, HubSpot, ServiceNow, Freshdesk, and Microsoft Teams. The relevant question is whether the exact workflow you need is supported by the product and license in your quote—not simply whether an integration name appears in the platform’s materials. Confirm the connection, direction of data flow, and any license requirements for your specific application. 8×8’s integration and feature list.

Desktop, mobile, web, or desk phone
Work’s apps provide a softphone route across desktop, mobile, and web. A physical business IP desk phone may be preferable for a reception desk or users who want a dedicated handset, but compatibility is model-dependent. 8×8’s documentation describes line-key functions on Polycom phones, and its support article explains equipment ordering for eligible customers; neither establishes a current, model-by-model compatibility list. Confirm the exact handset model with 8×8 before buying. 8×8 phone feature documentation and equipment-ordering support article, updated January 14, 2026.
Who is 8×8 a good fit for?
8×8 Work is worth evaluating if a business wants cloud business calling alongside meetings, messaging, and collaboration, and values having desktop, mobile, and web app options. Its broader platform may also matter to organizations evaluating contact-center functions such as omnichannel routing and agent or supervisor workspaces, or customer engagement and communications APIs. Those are separate needs to scope explicitly, not reasons to assume a basic Work license includes contact-center capabilities. 8×8 product options.
It may be a weaker match if you need a simple, immediately comparable public seat price, or if your requirements depend on a particular destination, usage cap, CRM workflow, or handset that has not been verified in the quote. Resolve those specifics before comparing vendors or committing to a term.
Quick Recap
What to verify before you buy
- Identify the product. Ask whether the quote covers 8×8 Work, Contact Center, Engage, an API service, a Microsoft Teams solution, or a defined combination.
- Map licenses to users. Get a written feature list for each license, including calling, messaging, analytics, recording, receptionist, agent, and supervisor capabilities relevant to your team.
- Confirm calling terms. Check the countries and number types included, fair-use limits, treatment of toll-free calls, and rates for out-of-zone or excess usage.
- Test required integrations. Confirm that each needed CRM or collaboration workflow works with the quoted service and license.
- Choose endpoints. Decide whether users will rely on apps, physical desk phones, or both; verify each handset model before ordering.
- Calculate the full bill. Request contract term, recurring and one-time charges, taxes and regulatory fees, usage costs, unassigned-number charges, overages, equipment, and shipping in writing.
- Review service commitments. Read the SLA applicable to the specific service and contract, including how availability is defined and what remedies apply.
