The stock closed at Rs.111 on NSE that day. That is about 64% below the Rs.310 all-time high of 15 July 2024. The two facts appeared in the same news cycle, but the available evidence does not show that the filing caused the fall.
What the exchange filing said
IREDA’s investor-disclosures index lists the item as “Extension of Additional Charge of post of the Chairman & Managing Director, IREDA to Dr.Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance).” The index confirms the disclosure and its title. The operative wording below comes from a Mint report, republished by TradingView News on 2 October 2026, which quotes the filing. I could not check it against the filing attachment itself.

The terms in plain language
- Who: Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, who is already Director (Finance).
- Who approved it: MNRE, the ministry IREDA reports to.
- Start and length: three months from 1 October 2026. Mint says he had held the additional CMD charge since July 2026.
- Early end: the arrangement stops sooner if a regular CMD is appointed or if further orders are issued, whichever comes first.
“Additional charge” means a sitting officer is running the top post alongside his own job. It is a stop-gap and not a permanent appointment. The filing does not say when a regular CMD will be named.

Who Dr. Mohanty is and what IREDA does
IREDA describes itself as a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under MNRE. It promotes and finances renewable-energy projects across India. Its management page lists Dr. Mohanty as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer, and it labels the CMD position as additional charge.

Nothing in the sources says so. Three different time frames are easy to confuse:
- The day: a 0.61% dip on 1 October 2026.
- The drawdown: Rs.310 to Rs.111, which spans more than two years from July 2024.
- The filing: an administrative extension of an arrangement that had been running since July 2026.
The 52-week low of Rs.107.40 came on 16 September 2026, before this extension was announced. The stock was already near its lows when the filing came out. The sources give no reasons for the larger decline, and I am not adding any, such as valuation, sentiment, loan quality or market-wide moves. Doing so would be speculation.
What can reasonably be said is that an interim head at a government-owned lender is a leadership-continuity point some investors may watch. The reported evidence does not measure any market reaction to it.

Business figures reported for FY2025–26
The same Mint report cites IREDA’s FY2025–26 annual report. It is secondary reporting, so check the annual report before using these figures for analysis.

Profit and margin rose while the share price sat near its 52-week low. That shows the stock’s move and the reported earnings did not track each other over this period. It does not explain why.
