Its LCD is high-refresh and sharp, but reviewers found the cameras less dependable—especially in low light—and the preinstalled software may need tidying. Whether it is good value depends on the live price of the exact RAM variant.

These India specifications are listed on iQOO’s technical specifications page and its product overview. iQOO says 4K video recording is available only on the variant with at least 8 GB RAM; lower-memory variants record up to 1080p/30 fps.

What the iQOO Z9x does well
Battery life is its strongest case
The large battery translated into strong results in two independent reviews, though their tests used different methods and should not be treated as a promised everyday runtime. In 2024, 91mobiles recorded 20 hours 19 minutes in its PCMark battery test and said the phone delivered all-day endurance for a power user. Gadgets 360 recorded 22 hours 35 minutes in its battery-loop test with the display set to 120 Hz/High, and reported up to two days of casual use. Those lab results describe the reviewers’ conditions, not a guarantee for every owner.

Charging results also varied by test: 91mobiles measured about 61 minutes to go from 20% to 100%, while Gadgets 360 took one hour 39 minutes for a full charge. The phone supports charging up to 44 W, but iQOO notes that actual charging power varies with conditions. The different timings reflect separate tests and starting points, rather than a single expected charging time.

Everyday speed and casual games
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 handled routine use smoothly in both reviews, and each found the phone capable of casual gaming. 91mobiles reported playing BGMI at High settings and Call of Duty: Mobile at HD. Gadgets 360 saw Asphalt 9 run at 60 fps on high-quality settings, but also noted a few dropped frames in Call of Duty: Mobile at Medium graphics and High frame rate.
A 120 Hz screen does not mean games will run at 120 frames per second. Gadgets 360 found that Auto refresh rate could remain at 90 Hz during games and noted that the hardware limits the number of games that can reach 120 fps. The Z9x is better understood as a capable everyday phone for casual play than a gaming-focused device.

Useful features beyond the basics
The 3.5 mm headphone jack gives wired-headphone users an option, while stereo speakers provide wider sound than a single speaker. Gadgets 360 described its tested unit’s speakers as loud but tinny; that is a reviewer’s listening impression, not a measurement of every unit. Expandable storage up to 1 TB is useful if 128 GB is not enough, although the phone uses a hybrid second SIM slot, so buyers should check the slot arrangement against their needs.
The IP64 rating means dust protection and resistance to water splashes, not waterproofing or permission to submerge the phone. iQOO warns that resistance can diminish with use and that liquid damage is not covered by warranty. Its product page also says its lab simulation retained at least 80% battery capacity after 1600 complete charge cycles; that is a company-reported simulated result, and iQOO says actual results vary.

Where the iQOO Z9x falls short
Camera results are less consistent
The 50 MP main camera can produce usable daylight photos, but the reviews point to the camera system as the phone’s clearest compromise. 91mobiles found good daylight detail and appealing colour, while warning that HDR could overexpose scenes and that low-light expectations should remain modest. In its samples, Gadgets 360 noted soft images, slow focus, inconsistent white balance and weak low-light results. These are assessments of the reviewers’ tested units; the 2 MP bokeh camera and megapixel count do not by themselves establish photo quality.
For video, iQOO’s specification limits 4K recording to the 8 GB RAM variant. The 4 GB and 6 GB variants record up to 1080p/30 fps, according to the review and iQOO’s product information. If dependable night shots, quick focus or consistent colour matter, compare camera samples from alternatives before choosing.

LCD instead of AMOLED
The 6.72-inch panel is a Full HD+ LCD with refresh rates up to 120 Hz. That makes scrolling and motion look smoother than on a basic 60 Hz screen, but LCD cannot deliver the same deep blacks and contrast as AMOLED. Reviewers differed on the screen’s presentation: 91mobiles found it sufficiently bright and satisfactory, whereas Gadgets 360 considered it not among the brightest in its segment and observed a yellow tint near the bottom of its tested unit. Treat the tint as a unit-specific observation, not a confirmed issue across all Z9x phones.
Software may need cleanup
The specification page lists Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14, but that launch-era listing is not confirmation of the version or support status on a phone bought today. 91mobiles described preinstalled apps and a Hot Apps section, which it said could be removed. The same review reported a launch-era promise of two major Android OS updates and three years of security updates; that report should not be taken as independent confirmation of current support or the remaining update period.

Price, variants and alternatives
Price and availability need a live check: the available source information does not establish a reliable current street price or stock status. For context only, 91mobiles listed review-era starting prices in 2024 of ₹12,999 for 4 GB/128 GB, ₹14,499 for 6 GB/128 GB and ₹15,999 for 8 GB/128 GB. An iQOO shop listing surfaced ₹18,999 for one 6 GB/128 GB SKU and ₹19,999 for an 8 GB/128 GB SKU, but the selected listing showed unavailable. Neither set of figures should be read as a current offer.
When comparing the Z9x, use the same RAM and storage configuration and the actual checkout price. Consider these trade-offs:
- Battery: compare capacity alongside independently tested endurance and charging, checking how each publication ran its test.
- Display: decide whether a high-refresh LCD is enough or AMOLED contrast matters more.
- Camera: look for consistent focus, white balance and low-light samples rather than relying on megapixels.
- Gaming: compare sustained performance and frame-rate behavior in the games you actually play, not just the advertised display refresh rate.
- Software: check the interface, preinstalled apps and a current, verifiable update commitment.
- Configuration: confirm the variant’s RAM, storage, video capability and live price.
In its 2024 comparison, 91mobiles named the Moto G64, POCO X6 Neo and realme P1 5G as rivals. It described the Moto G64 as having a similar 6000 mAh battery and a stock-Android-like interface, and said the POCO X6 Neo and realme P1 offered AMOLED displays; it also assessed the realme P1 as delivering better performance output. These are that review’s comparison claims, not a current market ranking. Check current prices and specifications before treating any of them as a direct alternative.

Verdict: who should buy the iQOO Z9x?
The iQOO Z9x is a good fit for a budget-phone buyer who values battery endurance, smooth everyday use, casual gaming, a large 120 Hz screen, stereo speakers and legacy features such as a headphone jack. Its practical extras make it more versatile than a bare-bones phone, and reviewer battery results are its clearest strength.
Choose carefully if photography, AMOLED contrast or a clean software setup is high on your list. Those are the areas where the compromises are most apparent. The verdict ultimately turns on the live price of the exact variant: compare like for like, and do not pay a premium for 8 GB RAM unless its additional memory or 4K recording capability matters to you.
