Its Dimensity 7200, 120Hz display, OIS-equipped main camera and day-long battery life impressed reviewers; its plain plastic styling, cluttered software and lack of an ultrawide camera were the main compromises. That is a historical verdict, not a current buying recommendation: prices, stock and alternatives may have changed.

What reviewers liked
Performance that suited gaming and everyday use
The Dimensity 7200 was one of the phone’s clearest strengths for its 2024 price tier. In The Indian Express’s review, Vivek Umashankar found BGMI and COD: Mobile playable at medium graphics and reported that COD: Mobile held 60fps after 40 minutes. Digit’s 2024 testing recorded 7,30,223 in AnTuTu v10 and described gameplay as smooth, including COD: Mobile at 90fps. These are results from those reviewers’ tests, not a promise of the same frame rates in every game, setting or software version.
A bright, immersive screen and stereo sound
The 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel and stereo speakers make the Z9 a capable phone for video and other media. The Indian Express reviewer praised the screen’s brightness and vividness. Digit, however, found that the phone stayed at 120Hz in its interface but did not scroll at 120Hz in the third-party apps it tested. That is a review-specific observation, not proof that every app or software version behaves the same way.

A useful main camera, with optical stabilization
The 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera has optical image stabilization (OIS). The Indian Express found that it captured detailed daylight photos, though contrast could be high. Digit also rated the main camera positively and found it stronger than the previous model’s. The 2MP depth camera does not provide the versatility of a second wide-angle lens.
Battery life that generally lasted through the day
In The Indian Express’s heavy mixed-use testing, the phone delivered slightly more than six hours of screen-on time; Digit reported about 5–6 hours of screen-on time in its daily use. Their charging tests also differed: The Indian Express took roughly 100 minutes to fill the battery, while Digit measured 74 minutes from empty to full. Those figures reflect separate reviewer test conditions, not fixed real-world outcomes. iQOO’s published battery-cycle and playback figures are manufacturer laboratory claims; the company says actual results vary with device, environment and usage.

iQOO Z9 5G drawbacks to consider
Plain plastic design and some display compromises
The Indian Express described the phone as relatively light but noted its plastic construction and thicker bottom bezel. That review also found the in-display fingerprint reader not especially fast or accurate. These are hands-on observations rather than measured results that apply identically to every user.
Funtouch OS clutter
Digit criticized Funtouch OS as clunky and noted preloaded third-party apps. The phone launched with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14, but the dated reviews do not establish its current software-support status. The reviewers reported two major Android OS upgrades and three years of security updates; do not treat those reports as confirmation of how much support remains today.

- 1*Phone Case,1*Tempered Glass Screen Protector
- Folding multi-angle support, you can adjust the support angle according to the use of the scene
- PC hard back panel + soft silicone frame + four corners Shock Airbags
- The frosted surface effectively prevents most fingerprints, and the carbon fiber texture design is stylish
- Case is higher than the camera as well as the screen, providing better flat protection
No ultrawide rear camera; average selfies
There is no ultrawide rear camera: the main camera is paired with a 2MP depth sensor instead. The Indian Express also found selfie performance average. If group, landscape or architecture shots from an ultrawide lens matter to you, this camera setup is a meaningful limitation.

At launch-era pricing, reviewers saw the Z9 as a compelling sub-₹20,000 option for people prioritizing performance and an AMOLED display who could accept ordinary styling, software clutter and a limited secondary-camera setup. Digit recorded ₹19,999 for 8GB/128GB and ₹21,999 for 8GB/256GB, with a then-available ₹2,000 card discount; The Indian Express reported ₹17,999 including a bank discount. These were 2024 review-era prices, not current offers.
