The India-market iQOO Neo 9 Pro is a strong choice if gaming performance, a fast flat display and rapid charging matter more to you than camera versatility or a particularly clean software experience. Its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and dedicated Q1 chip make it performance-first; the 50 MP main camera is the more convincing rear shooter, while the 8 MP ultra-wide and lack of a telephoto camera limit flexibility. This review covers the India variant, not differently configured China-market models.
What is the iQOO Neo 9 Pro India variant?
This review covers the India-market iQOO Neo 9 Pro 5G, built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform and iQOO’s Q1 chip. Product names can refer to differently configured devices in other markets, so specifications from a China-market model should not be assumed to apply. iQOO’s India product page lists the specifications and notes that parts, parameters and design may vary with suppliers or production batches.

iQOO lists a 6043 mm² vapor chamber, describing it as the largest in the company’s history at the time of the page. That is iQOO’s own claim, not an independent comparison with every phone or cooling system on the market.

Yes. Gaming and demanding everyday use are the phone’s clearest strengths. In its February 2024 review, 91mobiles rated performance 8.5/10 and reported roughly 20% higher single-core and 28% higher multi-core Geekbench results, plus an approximately 24% higher AnTuTu score, compared with the Neo 7 Pro. These are that outlet’s review-unit comparisons, not guarantees for every device; the review also cautioned that an app bug might have affected its CPU-throttling result.

Gadgets 360 said its review unit ran Fortnite at Epic settings and 90fps for about 40 minutes without lag or stutter, and that Genshin Impact at High had little performance impact. Those are observations from its tests, not assurances of sustained frame rates across every game, setting or session.
The Indian Express reported over 1.6 million points in AnTuTu and 89% stability in its CPU throttle test in 2024, with slight warmth after extended gaming. These results reflect that publication’s test setup. In practice, the combination of high-end silicon and a high-refresh display makes the Neo 9 Pro compelling for gaming, but game-specific performance and heat remain workload-dependent.
How is the display and build?
The phone has a flat 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 2400 × 1260 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, according to 91mobiles. Gadgets 360 described it as a 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display, also rated up to 144Hz. Reviewers found the screen punchy and suited to gaming and media. The flat design avoids curved-edge distortion and was noted as an ergonomic plus for gaming.

- The power behind AI on Google Pixel - Google Tensor G4 is Pixel’s most powerful chip yet. It’s built for advanced AI, cutting-edge photos and videos, and smarter ways to help all day.
Gadgets 360 reported IP54 dust and splash resistance. IP54 does not mean waterproof, so the rating should not be treated as protection for submersion. 91mobiles described the body as mostly plastic and noted the lack of a headphone jack; it also found that the dual speakers lacked bass. The Indian Express reviewer said the Fiery Red vegan-leather version felt grippy and that a case came in the tested box. That finish and package detail may depend on configuration and market; the same review noted USB-C 2.0 data transfer.
How good are the cameras?
The official India specification lists a 50 MP Sony IMX920 main camera with an f/1.88 aperture and optical image stabilisation, alongside an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. There is no telephoto camera, limiting optical zoom and framing flexibility compared with phones that include a dedicated zoom lens.
91mobiles found the main camera capable in daylight and low light, but said the ultra-wide could be better. Its review also noted a mild sepia-like colour effect in its samples. Those are observations from that review’s scenes and software, rather than a definitive result across all conditions. The practical verdict is that the main camera is the stronger and more dependable part of the setup; buyers who frequently use ultra-wide framing or want telephoto versatility should look elsewhere or compare samples carefully.

How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?
iQOO specifies an equivalent 5160 mAh battery and 120W FlashCharge. Reviewers found charging very fast, but their runtime and charge-time results differ because their tests and conditions differ:
| Source and test | Reported result |
|---|---|
| Gadgets 360, 2024 HD video-loop test | 21 hours 27 minutes of playback; the review also reported a full charge in 26 minutes using the included 120W charger. |
| 91mobiles, 2024, performance mode enabled | About 8.5 hours of screen time; around 35 minutes to full with the bundled charger. Its PCMark battery test could not be completed because of an app bug. |
| iQOO manufacturer claim, date not stated on the accessed page | Battery health remains at 80% after 1600 full charge/discharge cycles under the company’s stated testing. This is not a guarantee of an individual phone’s long-term battery health. |
The different review results should not be collapsed into a single promised runtime or charging time. The tests support the narrower conclusion that the phone can deliver substantial playback in a video-loop test and charges quickly; mixed-use battery life will depend on settings, games, connectivity and usage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What software and update support does it offer?
Gadgets 360 reported Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14 on its review unit and said iQOO promised three years of OS updates plus one additional year of security updates. 91mobiles likewise described eligibility for three years of major Android OS updates. These are launch-era statements from February 2024, not confirmation of the phone’s current installed software or update rollout status.

- 128GB of storage
- Will include charging cord
- Good to work on the AT&T network only
Software preference is a meaningful trade-off. 91mobiles considered the OnePlus 12R a better option for a cleaner Android experience, while finding the iQOO compelling when performance and value take priority.
iQOO Neo 9 Pro pros and cons
Pros
- Strong gaming and demanding-use performance from Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the Q1 chip.
- Flat 6.78-inch AMOLED display with up to 144Hz refresh.
- Capable 50 MP main camera with OIS.
- 120W charging and a large stated battery capacity.
Cons
- The 8 MP ultra-wide is less capable than the main camera, and there is no telephoto camera.
- Mostly plastic construction, according to 91mobiles, and no headphone jack.
- Funtouch OS may not suit buyers who prefer a cleaner Android experience.
- IP54 is splash resistance, not waterproofing.
Should you buy the iQOO Neo 9 Pro?
Choose it if gaming performance, a flat high-refresh screen and fast charging are your priorities, and you are comfortable with a less versatile camera system and Funtouch OS. Consider another phone if a strong ultra-wide, telephoto zoom, cleaner software or more premium construction ranks higher.
