At the China-market equivalent of about $895 for 12GB/256GB, the OnePlus 16 is the better all-round buy for battery life, video recording and reported durability. The iQOO 16 counters with a sharper, brighter display, a narrow rear-photo advantage in the cited comparison and a seemingly stronger path to international availability. Both use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, so gaming performance is broadly a draw. The $895 figure is a currency conversion, not a guaranteed price in your country; check the ROM, network bands, warranty and return policy before importing either phone.

Round 1: design, weight and water resistance
iQOO 16
The iQOO 16 is listed at between 222.5g and 229.8g, depending on configuration. The cited comparison reports IP68 and IP69 protection. Those ratings indicate testing against dust and water exposure, but they do not make liquid damage automatically eligible for warranty service.

The OnePlus 16 weighs about 220g. Comparison reporting lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, giving it the broader stated protection set. On the published specifications alone, it is the safer choice for frequent outdoor use, although a case, port care and the local warranty terms still matter.

Round 2: display quality and gaming refresh
iQOO’s sharper panel
iQOO uses a 6.85-inch 2K panel with a 3168×1440 resolution, up to 165Hz refresh and an approximately 2,800-nit whole-screen peak. The higher pixel count is useful for small text, maps and fine game detail, while the quoted whole-screen brightness is the stronger figure for bright outdoor scenes.
OnePlus’s higher supported-game ceiling
OnePlus has a slightly smaller 6.78-inch 1.5K display at 2772×1272. Everyday refresh ranges from 1Hz to 165Hz, and supported games can reach 185Hz. Its reported peak brightness is 2,000 nits. Choose it if a compatible title’s frame rate matters more than maximum resolution; choose iQOO if clarity and sunlight legibility come first.

- Unlocked for freedom to choose your carrier. Compatible with both GSM & CDMA networks. The phone is unlocked to work with all GSM Carriers & CDMA Carriers Including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint., Etc.
Round 3: processor, sustained gaming and thermals
Both phones use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, removing the usual processor advantage from this comparison. iQOO adds a Q4 gaming chip, and its official page advertises native 165 FPS support in selected games. OnePlus is reported to use a three-chip system and can reach 185Hz in supported games.
These are feature and compatibility differences, not proof that one phone is faster in every game. Actual frame rates depend on the title, its update, the selected graphics preset, room temperature and each manufacturer’s thermal tuning. Check the supported-game list rather than assuming that every title will run at 165Hz or 185Hz.

Round 4: still photography, selfies and zoom
Rear cameras
iQOO combines 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto cameras. OnePlus uses a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 3× telephoto. Despite the larger headline sensor resolution on OnePlus, the cited comparison gives iQOO a narrow edge for overall rear still photography. That is an editorial result, not a guarantee in every lighting condition.
Selfies and practical shooting
OnePlus specifies a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, giving it the clearer specification advantage for front-camera detail and focus flexibility. If your priority is rear-camera consistency, select iQOO by the narrow comparison call; if you shoot yourself, use the front camera often or value optical reach, OnePlus is the more attractive specification package.

Round 5: video recording
The reported iQOO specification reaches 4K recording. OnePlus is reported to support 4K at 120 frames per second with Dolby Vision and 8K at 30 frames per second. Those modes make OnePlus the decisive video winner on paper, but storage use, heat, compatible playback screens and editing software can limit how often you will use the highest settings.

Capacity
Gadgets360’s 2026 figures list an 8,400mAh typical battery for iQOO (8,170mAh rated) and a 9,000mAh battery for OnePlus. Tech-ish lists the OnePlus rated capacity as 8,780mAh. Rated and typical values are different measurement conventions, so do not treat them as directly interchangeable laboratory results; either way, OnePlus has the larger published capacity.

A compatible 100W USB-C charger and cable are required to reach the maximum wired rate, and regional charger bundles may differ.

China pricing
Memeburn reports a starting price of CNY 5,999, approximately $895, for 12GB/256GB. The same report lists CNY 8,499, approximately $1,268, for 16GB/1TB. These are China prices converted to dollars; taxes, import fees, retailer margins and local launch pricing can change the amount you actually pay.
Operating systems and launch timing
In China, iQOO ships with Android 17 and OriginOS 7 and has been on sale since September 29, 2026. OnePlus uses Android 17 with ColorOS 17 and is described as China-first; the cited reporting does not establish an India launch date. The iQOO 16 therefore has the more promising international path in the available information, but that is not confirmation of a local launch.

Can you import one safely?
Before ordering a China-market handset, verify all five items below with the seller and your carrier:
- ROM and services: confirm the exact operating-system region, language options, Google Play availability and whether bootloader changes are required.
- Network bands: compare the phone’s supported 4G and 5G bands with your carrier, including VoLTE and 5G voice support.
- Warranty: ask whether repairs are handled in your country or only in China, and who pays two-way shipping.
- Return policy: check the deadline, restocking conditions and whether opened or activated phones can be returned.
- Taxes and accessories: calculate import VAT or duty and confirm that the supplied charger, plug and cable support the advertised 100W rate.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose OnePlus 16 if
- You want the largest published battery and faster wireless charging.
- You record video and value 4K/120 Dolby Vision or reported 8K/30 capture.
- You prefer the lighter body and broader reported water-resistance ratings.
- Your games support its 185Hz mode and you value the higher refresh ceiling over 2K resolution.
Choose iQOO 16 if
- You want the sharper, brighter 2K display.
- Rear still photography is more important than advanced video modes.
- You prefer the phone with the more promising international-availability outlook in current reporting.
- Your local seller can provide a compatible ROM, bands and usable warranty.
Bottom line: At the same roughly $895 China-market tier, OnePlus 16 is the broader recommendation for endurance, charging and video. iQOO 16 is the specialist pick for display quality and rear photos. The shared chipset means neither has a clear core-performance advantage, and import support—not benchmark branding—should decide your final purchase.
