If you are deciding whether to wait for the standard iPhone 18, a fair head-to-head verdict is not yet possible: the available Apple details concern iPhone 18 Pro models, not the regular iPhone 18. Treat this as a provisional buying guide, not a confirmed spec comparison.
What is known about the Galaxy S26—and what is not known about iPhone 18
PhoneArena reports that the Galaxy S26 was released on March 11, 2026, and lists a 6.3-inch display, Android 16, 256GB or 512GB of storage, three rear cameras, a 4,300mAh battery, and up to seven OS updates. These are comparison-site specifications, not independent test results; the exact model and specifications may vary by market. PhoneArena’s comparison

91mobiles also reports a March 11, 2026 Galaxy S26 release date, a 6.3-inch 120Hz display, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage in the configuration it compares, and three rear cameras. Its comparison is with the iPhone 18 Pro, so its Apple column does not establish specifications for the standard iPhone 18. 91mobiles’ comparison
The reviewed sources do not establish the standard iPhone 18’s specifications or release timing. An iTechGuides overview likewise distinguishes the available Samsung information from Apple information about Pro models; it is secondary reporting, not an Apple announcement. iTechGuides’ overview

Should you buy the Galaxy S26 now or wait for iPhone 18?
Choose the Galaxy S26 if you need a documented option now
The S26 is the practical choice between these two if you need to buy now and are comfortable with Android. Before ordering, verify that the listing is for the correct regional model and storage tier, then check carrier compatibility, current local price, and the seller’s return terms. The reported specifications do not prove that the S26 is better than the standard iPhone 18.
Wait if you specifically want an iPhone and can postpone the decision
If you are committed to iOS and do not need to replace your phone immediately, wait for confirmed information about the standard iPhone 18 before comparing it with the S26. Do not use iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max specifications as a stand-in for the regular model, and do not treat estimated launch dates, rumored features, or third-party price predictions as confirmed facts.

What to compare once standard iPhone 18 details are confirmed
For a useful local-market comparison, put the two standard models side by side rather than mixing the S26 with an iPhone Pro. Check:
- Price and storage: Compare the actual prices and storage tiers available where you live, not a launch estimate or a different market’s configuration.
- Size and display: Compare physical dimensions, screen size, refresh rate, and how each feels to use. The S26 display figures above are source-reported; comparable standard iPhone 18 information is not established here.
- Cameras: Compare the camera hardware and independent results for the exact models. Camera count alone does not show which phone takes better photos or video.
- Battery and charging: Look for comparable testing and charging details before judging endurance or charging speed. The S26’s reported 4,300mAh capacity is a specification, not a battery-life test.
- Software and support: Consider whether you prefer Android or iOS, and compare confirmed support policies for the regional models. PhoneArena reports up to seven OS updates for the S26; that figure does not establish how long every device will receive every kind of support.
- Your existing devices: Include the phones, computers, watches, earbuds, services, and accessories you already use. Compatibility and convenience may matter more than a specification advantage that is not yet established.
Why there is no reliable winner yet
A winner requires confirmed information for both standard phones and a like-for-like comparison. Here, the S26 has specifications reported by secondary comparison sites, while the reviewed Apple coverage does not establish standard iPhone 18 details. There is also no matched-model test evidence here to declare a camera, battery, or value winner. Check manufacturer specifications and local availability when Apple publishes standard-model information, then compare the exact versions sold in your market.
