Choose the iPhone 18 Pro if iOS, Apple’s device ecosystem, and its camera controls suit you; choose Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra if you want a large-screen Android flagship. They are both premium phones, but they are not similar in size: Samsung lists the Ultra at 6.9 inches and 214 g. Compare the storage tier and current price in your market before deciding; Samsung’s store offers can change.

Choose by the phone and services you already use
Pick the iPhone 18 Pro if iOS fits your setup
Consider the iPhone if your everyday devices, services, apps, and accessories already work around iOS, or if you prefer Apple’s software environment. Apple lists iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence for this model. Its announcement also highlights variable aperture on the 48MP Fusion Main camera. That is a documented feature, not proof that its pictures outperform Samsung’s.

The Ultra is the clearer fit if you want a large Samsung Android phone. Samsung lists a 6.9-inch display, 200MP wide and 50MP telephoto cameras, Privacy Display, and an included S Pen. Whether those features matter depends on how you use your phone and what is available in your region. Its size is a real trade-off: do not treat it as a same-handling-size alternative to the iPhone 18 Pro.

Think about camera use, not just megapixels
Apple’s stated camera distinction is variable aperture on the 48MP main camera; Samsung publishes 200MP wide and 50MP telephoto camera resolutions. Those numbers and feature descriptions do not settle image quality, especially across different lenses and shooting conditions. If camera performance is the deciding factor, look for independent side-by-side tests that show comparable scenes, settings, and software versions rather than relying on resolution alone.
Apple senior vice president Greg Joswiak described variable aperture as offering “more versatility for creators and more control for pros” in Apple’s September 9, 2026 announcement. That is Apple’s characterization of its feature, not an independent assessment.

Compare battery claims carefully
Samsung lists a 5,000 mAh battery and claims 31 hours of video playback, as well as charging to 75% in around 30 minutes. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro line improves battery life but does not provide a directly comparable figure in the cited announcement. Capacity and manufacturer playback claims use different kinds of evidence; neither establishes which phone will last longer for your mix of calls, camera use, apps, and screen time.

Compare the actual price for the same storage
Apple announced a U.S. launch price of $1,199 for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro on September 9, 2026. That is a launch figure, not a promise of today’s retail price. Samsung’s U.S. listing showed prices that depend on configuration and promotion, so a temporary offer should not be treated as a stable list price.
Rank #3
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
- Choose a storage tier. Compare the same capacity on each phone; Apple announced four storage tiers for the iPhone 18 Pro.
- Check local prices. Look at the price available in your country, including retailer or carrier conditions, rather than comparing a U.S. launch price with a promotion elsewhere.
- Include what you need to buy separately. Samsung says its U.S. listing does not include a charger. Check the package contents and whether you need to add a compatible charger to your total.
Make the choice
- Choose iPhone 18 Pro if iOS and your existing Apple setup make it the more convenient fit, and its listed camera controls and smaller Pro-model positioning suit you.
- Choose Galaxy S26 Ultra if you want a large-screen Samsung Android flagship and value its published camera hardware, S Pen, or Privacy Display enough to accept the larger body.
- Pause before choosing either if your main priority is a compact Android phone. The Ultra is substantially larger, and a closer-size Android candidate may be more appropriate; verify that alternative’s official specifications, availability, software support, and current local price before comparing.
Neither manufacturer’s specifications establish a universal winner. For most buyers, the best decision comes down to ecosystem fit, whether the Ultra’s size is welcome, and the real price for the storage tier they will actually buy.
