As of October 4, 2026, both the Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max and vivo X300 Ultra are released flagship phones. There is no reliable single price difference to quote: Apple’s listed starting price is for the US market, while vivo’s prices are for China-market configurations. On paper, vivo lists a pair of 200MP rear cameras and a 144Hz display; Apple’s phone is the natural fit for buyers committed to iOS and Apple services. Those specifications do not establish which takes better photos or performs better in everyday use.

What is the price difference?
A direct price difference cannot be responsibly calculated from the published figures. Apple’s $1,299 starting price is for a 256GB iPhone 18 Pro Max in the United States. vivo’s CNY 6,999–11,999 range covers different China-market RAM/storage bundles and editions. Converting yuan to dollars would not make these like-for-like offers.
For a useful comparison, match the exact storage tier and purchase country, then compare current local prices including sales tax, import charges, warranty coverage and seller terms. Exchange rates change, and the available evidence does not establish local vivo pricing or availability outside China.

Which phone has the better camera?
The specifications describe different camera approaches, but megapixel counts do not prove which phone produces better photographs or video. No independent head-to-head camera test is established here, so a definitive image-quality winner would be unsupported.

iPhone 18 Pro Max: variable-aperture main camera and flexible zoom
Apple specifies a 48MP Fusion main camera with four aperture settings: ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/4.0. It is joined by a 48MP ultrawide and a 48MP telephoto at 100mm, or 4x. Apple also lists optical-quality 2x and 8x telephoto options, a 16x optical-quality zoom range and up to 40x digital zoom. Camera controls include aperture, shutter speed, white balance and histogram. These are Apple’s published capabilities, not a guarantee of results in every scene.
vivo X300 Ultra: two high-resolution telephoto-oriented cameras
vivo lists a 200MP 35mm Zeiss main camera, a 200MP 85mm Zeiss telephoto with 3.7x optical zoom, and a 50MP 14mm Zeiss ultrawide. The specification page also lists up to 105x digital zoom and 8K video recording. Digital zoom reach and recording resolution alone do not establish detail, stabilization, color or low-light quality.

Choose by the focal lengths and controls you expect to use, then seek comparable sample images or testing for your own priorities. If you mainly want the phone that is proven to take better pictures, the listed specifications alone cannot answer that question.
Display, performance and software
Display
Apple lists a 6.9-inch OLED panel at 2868 × 1320 resolution and up to 120Hz adaptive ProMotion. vivo lists a slightly smaller 6.82-inch AMOLED panel at 3168 × 1440 and 144Hz. vivo therefore has the higher listed refresh rate and resolution, while Apple lists the larger diagonal. Refresh rate and pixel count do not settle brightness, color accuracy, outdoor visibility or motion quality; the cited pages provide specifications rather than independent display measurements.

Processor and operating system
The iPhone uses Apple’s A20 Pro and iOS 27; vivo lists a fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite platform and Android 16-based OriginOS 6. Chip names and core counts are not a substitute for comparable real-world tests. For a purchase decision, consider the operating system, apps, services and devices you already use, as well as local software and carrier support.

Battery, charging and durability
Apple claims up to 45 hours of video playback for eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro Max models. vivo lists a 6,600mAh typical battery, 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. The figures use different kinds of claims, and neither source supplies a common head-to-head battery test; they cannot establish which phone lasts longer in comparable use.
Apple specifies IP68 resistance under IEC 60529 and says its testing reached a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes. That is a test condition, not a statement that the phone is damage-proof or suitable for routine underwater use.
Availability and what to check before buying
Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026, with availability beginning September 18. vivo lists March 2026 as the X300 Ultra launch month, but the cited specifications and prices are from vivo China. They do not verify availability, warranty, network compatibility or support in another country.

- Check the phone’s supported network bands against your carrier; vivo’s listed bands are China-market documentation, and operation depends on carrier networks, infrastructure and software.
- Verify which SIM, eSIM and satellite features work with your carrier and region. vivo’s described Beidou messaging has China-specific service and activation limits.

Which one should you choose?
Choose iPhone 18 Pro Max if…
- You already rely on iOS, Apple services or other Apple devices.
- You want Apple’s stated camera controls and variable-aperture main camera.
- You prefer a US-market starting price and storage lineup that Apple has published, subject to local availability and pricing.
Consider vivo X300 Ultra if…
- You value its specified 200MP main and telephoto cameras, 144Hz display or listed fast-charging figures.
- You prefer Android and have confirmed the particular regional model will receive acceptable carrier, warranty and service support where you live.
- You can buy it at a verified local price rather than relying on a China listing that may not apply to your market.
Neither set of specifications establishes a universal winner for camera quality, battery life, display quality or performance. The more useful choice depends on ecosystem, camera focal lengths, local support and the actual price of the configuration you can buy.
