What’s new in the iPhone 18 Pro?
Apple’s central camera change is a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. Apple says it opens to ƒ/1.48 for low-light scenes, uses ƒ/1.8 for portraits, and can narrow to ƒ/4 to bring more of a scene into focus. The practical distinction is that the aperture can be adjusted for different shooting situations, rather than relying on one fixed opening. Apple also cites upgraded Photographic Styles and video features, but its launch announcement does not establish an independent assessment of image quality.

Both models use Apple’s A20 Pro chip and a next-generation vapor chamber. Apple describes the combination as delivering its highest sustained performance in iPhone history. That is Apple’s claim, not a result from independent benchmarking.

What’s the difference between iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max?
The clearest confirmed differences for a buyer are size and handling, starting price, and the practical value of the larger model’s battery emphasis. Both share the same listed finishes and storage tiers. Apple’s launch announcement sets the Pro Max $100 above the Pro at the U.S. starting tier.

Apple Support lists the Pro Max measurements and notes that actual viewable screen area is less than the standard-rectangle figure. A corresponding Pro specification is not established here, so the exact size and weight difference should not be inferred from this table. Choose the Pro Max if you are comfortable with its listed dimensions and want the larger format; choose the Pro if you prefer a smaller phone, checking Apple’s live specifications before relying on an exact measurement comparison.
How much does iPhone 18 Pro cost?
Apple announced U.S. starting prices of $1,199 for iPhone 18 Pro and $1,299 for iPhone 18 Pro Max. At launch, Apple also listed 24-month U.S. payment amounts of $49.95 and $54.12 per month, respectively. Those are announced launch figures, not a live quote or a guarantee of current financing terms. Pricing outside the United States varies by market and is not established by these U.S. amounts.
Both phones are offered in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities. The stated starting prices are the entry tiers; check Apple’s store in your country for the price of the capacity and configuration you intend to buy.

When can I buy iPhone 18 Pro?
Apple opened pre-orders September 12, 2026, at 5 a.m. Pacific Time in more than 65 countries and regions. Availability began September 18 in those markets, with 20 additional countries and regions beginning September 25. These are announced launch dates, not confirmation of present-day stock; availability now depends on the market and retailer.
Does iPhone 18 Pro come with a charger?
The box includes a one-meter USB-C Charge Cable, but Apple says it does not include a power adapter or EarPods. If you already have a compatible USB-C power adapter, it may be all you need; check adapter compatibility rather than assuming you must buy another charger.

What software and durability details should buyers know?
Apple says iOS 27 became available September 14, 2026. Apple Intelligence availability depends on device language, region, and feature. Apple described Siri AI as a beta rollout beginning in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support coming in October; its support specifications say Siri AI is initially unavailable in the EU on iOS. Because language and regional availability can change, verify the current feature list for your location and preferred language before buying on that basis.
Apple Support lists the Pro Max as IP68-rated under IEC 60529, based on controlled testing to a maximum depth of six metres for up to 30 minutes. Apple cautions that resistance is not permanent and liquid damage is not covered by warranty. This is not a promise that the phone is waterproof or safe from liquid damage in everyday use.
Apple also reports 40% recycled content overall, including 85% recycled aluminum in the enclosure and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery. These are Apple’s stated material figures, not independently measured figures.
