The iPhone 17 Pro Max and iQOO 15 target different priorities: Apple pairs iOS with its A19 Pro chip, while iQOO’s China-market model emphasizes a high-refresh display, gaming hardware and fast charging. For Indian buyers, the clearest confirmed price is the iPhone’s ₹149,900 starting launch price; that is not a guaranteed current selling price. The iQOO prices reported at launch are for China, so they cannot be compared as current Indian prices.

How does the price difference work for Indian buyers?
iPhone 17 Pro Max: confirmed India launch price
Apple listed the iPhone 17 Pro Max at a starting price of ₹149,900 in India when it announced the phone in September 2025. Apple said pre-orders would begin on September 12, 2025, with availability from September 19 in India and other listed markets. The launch price is a historical reference, not a promise of today’s checkout price.

Gadgets 360 reported China launch pricing of CNY 4,199 for the 12GB RAM/256GB iQOO 15 and CNY 5,499 for the 16GB RAM/1TB configuration. These prices refer to China-market configurations and should not be converted into a supposed Indian retail price or directly compared with Apple’s India launch price. An India launch expectation published around the China launch period is historical and does not establish current India availability or official pricing.

Check live listings carefully
Marketplace comparison pages can show seller-specific offers for both models, but those prices may change with stock, seller, storage configuration and promotions. A listing is a point-in-time offer, not an official MSRP or a durable measure of the price gap. Confirm the exact regional model, storage, seller and final checkout price before buying. 91mobiles’ comparison listing can serve as a live-marketplace check, not a fixed price reference.
Display: sharper refresh specification or Apple’s adaptive 120Hz?
The reported iQOO 15 specification is a 6.85-inch 2K AMOLED panel with refresh rates up to 144Hz. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is reported with a slightly larger 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display and adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. The numbers describe different display characteristics: a higher maximum refresh rate does not by itself establish which screen looks better, is brighter in every condition, or uses less power. Check the precise regional specification before purchase, particularly for the iQOO model.

Performance and gaming: compare hardware, not assumed wins
The iPhone uses Apple’s A19 Pro; the cited iQOO comparison lists Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, plus a dedicated Q3 gaming chip. It describes vapor-chamber cooling for the iPhone and gaming-oriented hardware for the iQOO. Those are design and component differences, not controlled evidence that one phone delivers higher frame rates or sustains performance longer in real games. Results depend on the game, settings, software updates, temperature and test duration.

The iQOO runs Android through OriginOS in the cited China configuration, while the iPhone runs iOS. The comparison records OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 and iOS 26 as of its publication; software versions can change through updates, and regional iQOO software may differ.

Cameras: megapixels do not settle the comparison
The cited specifications list three 50MP rear cameras on the iQOO 15 and three 48MP Fusion cameras on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone configuration is Apple’s own announced specification. A resolution count alone cannot show which phone produces better photos or video: lens roles, image processing, lighting and shooting conditions matter. The available comparison does not provide controlled camera testing, so there is no evidence-based camera winner here.
Battery and charging: different kinds of claims
The iQOO 15 comparison reports a 7,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. Apple claims up to 37 hours of video playback for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. These figures are not directly comparable battery tests: one is a stated capacity and charging rates, while the other is a manufacturer’s playback-endurance claim. They do not establish which phone lasts longer in a buyer’s everyday use.
Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the iPhone 17 Pro Max if you want iOS and prefer Apple’s A19 Pro platform, and if its India launch price provides a useful point of reference for your budget.
- Consider the iQOO 15 if the reported 2K/144Hz display, gaming-focused hardware and high-wattage charging suit your priorities, and you can verify that the exact regional model is officially available to you.
- Do not decide from headline specs alone if camera quality, real-world battery life or sustained gaming performance is the deciding factor; the cited information does not establish a controlled winner in those categories.
