The iPhone 16 is the smaller, more expensive option; the vivo S2 5G offers a larger 120 Hz display, a 7,050 mAh typical-capacity battery and a lower announced India price. At the cited figures, the iPhone 16 128 GB costs ₹49,901 more than the vivo S2 8 GB/128 GB launch price—but those figures come from different price bases, not matched checkout quotes.
This comparison is for India. Apple’s India store listed the iPhone 16 128 GB at ₹89,900 when accessed in 2026. vivo announced launch prices of ₹39,999 for 8 GB/128 GB and ₹44,999 for 8 GB/256 GB in India. Store prices, offers and availability can change, so verify the price for the exact storage and color before buying.

Which screen suits you better?
The S2’s 6.83-inch panel is substantially larger and supports refresh rates up to 120 Hz. That gives it the more spacious listed screen for reading, video and scrolling. The iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch OLED is easier to accommodate in a smaller handset and has a slightly higher listed pixel density: 460 ppi versus 449 ppi. Pixel density, size and refresh rate are not a full measure of display quality; these specifications alone do not establish which screen looks better in use.
Apple lists 2556 × 1179 resolution and 460 ppi for the iPhone 16. vivo lists 2800 × 1260 resolution, 449 ppi and up to 120 Hz for the S2. The larger vivo panel is therefore the clearer spec-sheet choice if screen area and refresh rate matter most, while the iPhone is the more compact display option. Camera hardware: stabilization and lens choice matter more than megapixels
Rear cameras
Apple lists a 48 MP main camera with ƒ/1.6 aperture and sensor-shift optical image stabilization, plus a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. The iPhone also supports 2× optical zoom in. The S2 has a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP secondary rear camera according to vivo’s store listing. The stated configurations give the iPhone a specifically described ultra-wide lens and stabilization; they do not, by themselves, prove which phone takes better photos.

Front camera and video
Apple lists a 12 MP TrueDepth front camera, while vivo lists a 32 MP front camera and advertises 4K video recording on both the front and rear cameras. A higher megapixel count is not a reliable stand-in for selfie quality, video stabilization, low-light results or color processing. No controlled comparison is established by these figures, so choose based on the camera features you will use rather than the largest number on the spec sheet. Battery figures are not directly comparable
Apple estimates up to 22 hours of video playback for iPhone 16. vivo gives the S2 a typical battery capacity of 7,050 mAh and lists 44 W charging. A playback estimate and a battery-capacity figure measure different things; neither establishes which phone lasts longer under the same mix of screen time, mobile signal, apps and settings. No comparable controlled battery test is available here.
The S2’s listed charging power is 44 W. Apple lists MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25 W for iPhone 16; that is a different charging method and should not be read as a direct speed comparison with vivo’s wired figure. Apple also says the iPhone box includes a USB-C cable but not a power adapter. For one fast-charging condition, Apple specifies a 20 W or higher adapter; check the applicable Apple guidance and adapter compatibility before purchase. Size, weight and protection
The iPhone 16 is listed at 170 g and 147.6 × 71.6 × 7.80 mm. The S2 measures about 164.42 × 75.25 × 7.99 mm in Sapphire Blue and Regal Bronze, or about 8.10 mm thick in Silk White; listed weights vary from 197 g to 199 g by color. The iPhone is the smaller and lighter device on the published dimensions. The vivo offers a much larger body alongside its larger battery capacity.

The reviewed vivo India S2 pages do not publish an IP rating. That means the rating was not established in those specifications; it does not prove that the S2 has no water or dust resistance. Do not treat either phone’s rating as a reason to deliberately expose it to water. Apple iPhone 16 India specifications; vivo S2 India specifications.

SIM, network bands and accessories in India
Check the exact regional model
For the S2, vivo lists two nano-SIM slots and 5G support across bands including n1, n3, n5, n8, n28B, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77 and n78. Apple’s India specifications should be used for an India-market iPhone; SIM arrangements and supported bands can differ by region and SKU. Do not use a US iPhone specification to assume Indian retail-unit details. Before buying either phone, confirm that the exact model supports your carrier’s bands and the SIM setup you need. Apple India specifications; vivo India S2 specifications.
What comes in the package
Apple lists a USB-C cable and says a power adapter and EarPods are not included. vivo’s India store listing includes a charger, cable, case, eject tool, applied protective film and warranty card. Package contents can depend on purchase region or listing, so confirm the exact box contents with the seller. vivo India E-Store listing; Apple iPhone 16 specifications.
Processor, software and support: what this comparison can establish
The iPhone 16 uses Apple’s A18, specified with a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. vivo specifies a 4 nm, octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo for the S2. Those platform descriptions do not establish a benchmark winner or predict performance in every app. No independent performance test or like-for-like software-support period is established by the available product specifications, so a definitive speed or update-longevity ranking would go beyond the evidence.
For software, compare the operating system and services you already use, the apps and accessories you rely on, and the support commitment for the exact model in your market. The product figures above are not a substitute for checking current manufacturer support information.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the vivo S2 5G if
- You want a lower announced India price and are comfortable checking the live price and offer for your chosen configuration.
- You prefer a larger 6.83-inch screen with a listed refresh rate up to 120 Hz.
- You value the listed 7,050 mAh typical battery capacity, 44 W charging, two nano-SIM slots, and the accessories shown in vivo’s India package listing.
- You want 8 GB/256 GB storage at vivo’s announced ₹44,999 launch price, subject to current availability and checkout price.
Choose the iPhone 16 if
- You prefer a smaller, lighter handset: Apple lists 170 g and 147.6 × 71.6 × 7.80 mm.
- You want the specifically listed 48 MP main camera with sensor-shift optical stabilization, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera and 2× optical zoom in.
- You value Apple’s published IP68 rating and its stated test limit, or the iPhone’s listed Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
- You already rely on Apple’s ecosystem and have verified that the India-market model fits your SIM and carrier needs.
At the cited India price references, the S2 costs much less, while the iPhone 16 offers a smaller form factor and a differently equipped camera system. Neither is a universal winner: budget, preferred screen size, camera needs, network compatibility and your existing software ecosystem should determine the choice.
