iPhone 16 vs Motorola Edge 70 Max: Key Specs and the Price Gap

The Motorola Edge 70 Max is larger, heavier and specifies a faster-refreshing display and much larger battery; the iPhone 16 is the more compact choice. There is no defensible single price difference without a country, storage configuration, seller and same-day prices: the manufacturers’ specification pages do not establish comparable current retail prices.

At a glance: how the specifications compare

Rear cameras stated on cited specifications 48 MP main and 12 MP ultra-wide; 2× telephoto option enabled by the main camera 8 MP ultra-wide; cited specification extract does not state the primary camera resolution
Durability ratings IP68 under IEC 60529; Apple states a maximum depth of 6 m for up to 30 minutes IP69/IP68 and MIL-STD 810H

These are manufacturer specifications and estimates, not results from a controlled comparison. See Apple’s iPhone 16 specifications and Motorola’s Edge 70 Max specifications.

Which phone is bigger and easier to handle?

The Edge 70 Max has a 6.82-inch display, compared with 6.1 inches on the iPhone 16. It is also 51 g heavier based on the manufacturers’ listed weights: 221 g versus 170 g. The iPhone’s smaller dimensions and lower weight make it the more compact option on paper; the Motorola’s larger screen may suit people who prefer more display area for video, reading or multitasking.

How do the displays differ?

Motorola specifies a larger, higher-resolution panel with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Apple lists the iPhone 16’s OLED resolution as 2556 × 1179 at 460 ppi; Motorola lists 1440 × 3168 at 510 ppi. Motorola claims peak brightness of up to 7000 nits. Apple lists up to 2000 nits peak brightness outdoors and 1600 nits peak HDR brightness. These are vendor figures that may use different measurement conditions, so they do not establish which screen is brighter in a like-for-like test.

What do the processor and operating system tell you?

Apple specifies its A18 chip, while Motorola lists Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Model names alone are not enough to determine which phone performs better across gaming, sustained workloads, battery efficiency or everyday use; that requires comparable independent testing.

The operating system and devices you already use are also practical decision factors. Choose based on whether you prefer Apple’s or Motorola’s software experience and ecosystem, rather than assuming the processor name settles the choice. The cited specification pages do not establish current software-support timelines or availability in every country, so check those for your region before buying.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro, 128GB, Black Titanium - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • Titanium frame combines strength and lightness, giving the iPhone 16 Pro a premium feel while reducing weight for prolonged daily use. The polished edges and textured back enhance grip and handling, making it easier to use during long calls, gaming sessions, or when capturing photos and videos on the move.

How do the batteries compare?

Motorola lists a 7100 mAh silicon-carbon battery and charging up to 90 W wired and 25 W magnetic wireless. It estimates up to 42 hours of continuous video playback. Apple does not state an mAh capacity on its cited specification page; it estimates up to 22 hours of video playback and up to 18 hours of streamed video playback.

The playback durations are manufacturer estimates, not a standardized head-to-head result. They should not be read as proof that one phone will last a particular number of hours longer in everyday use: real battery life depends on settings, network conditions, apps and usage.

  • Unlocked for freedom to choose your carrier. Compatible with both GSM & CDMA networks. The phone is unlocked to work with all GSM Carriers & CDMA Carriers Including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint., Etc.

What can the published camera specifications establish?

Apple lists a 48 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, with a 2× telephoto option enabled by the main camera. Motorola’s cited specification extract lists an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and describes a dedicated light sensor, but does not provide the primary camera’s resolution. That information is not enough for a complete hardware comparison, and megapixel counts alone would not establish photo or video quality. A reliable quality ranking would require comparable independent tests.

What do the durability ratings mean?

Apple specifies IP68 under IEC 60529 and states that the iPhone 16 can be at a maximum depth of 6 m for up to 30 minutes. Motorola lists IP69/IP68 and MIL-STD 810H for the Edge 70 Max. These are manufacturer-stated ratings, not a guarantee that either phone is damage-proof. Water, impact and environmental exposure can still damage a device.

What is the price difference?

The available official specification pages do not provide comparable current retail prices, so a reliable price gap cannot be stated from them. Prices depend on country, storage, seller and date; a launch price from another market or an older listing would not answer what the difference is for a current purchase.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a meaningful comparison, check both phones in the same country, with the same storage capacity where available, from comparable sellers on the same date. Record the currency and whether each price is a regular list price, a current sale or a refurbished offer. Also confirm that each exact model is available locally.
