The iPhone 16 Plus is selling for less than its original retail positioning, but the cheapest headline price is not necessarily the best deal. Current US listings observed in October 2026 range from about $589 for a comparison-site Amazon listing to $829.99 for a Best Buy unlocked listing. Restored, resale and carrier-locked options sit between those figures, with different warranty, activation and network restrictions.
iPhone 16 Plus prices at a glance
All prices below are for 128GB models unless stated otherwise. They are observed listing prices, not a guarantee that inventory, sellers or conditions will remain unchanged. Taxes, shipping, activation fees and required service plans can raise the final cost.

| Source and listing | Observed price | Condition or lock status | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon comparison price | About $589 | Seller and condition not established in the comparison snapshot | Open the live listing to confirm seller, new or used condition, warranty and return window |
| Walmart restored unlocked | $629.90; other sellers from $548 | Restored; carrier-unlocked | Seller rating, battery health, included accessories, warranty and return terms |
| Swappa resale | About $638 | Unlocked resale listings | Individual device grade, battery health, carrier compatibility and seller protections |
| Walmart Straight Talk prepaid | $729 | Carrier-locked; requires a Straight Talk plan for activation | Plan cost, unlocking policy and whether you intend to stay with that carrier |
| Best Buy unlocked listing | $829.99 | New listing price; page also showed open-box and refurbished alternatives | Whether new stock is actually available and how alternative conditions are covered |
The roughly $589 comparison price is the lowest signal in this snapshot, but it needs the most verification because a comparison page does not establish the live Amazon seller, device condition or return policy. The restored Walmart and Swappa prices provide clearer low-cost unlocked reference points, while Best Buy’s listed unlocked price is substantially higher.
Which iPhone 16 Plus deal is cheapest after restrictions?
Unlocked restored or resale units
For shoppers who already have a compatible plan, an unlocked restored Walmart unit at $629.90 or an unlocked Swappa listing around $638 may offer a lower practical cost than a $729 prepaid phone tied to a specific carrier. The Walmart page showed some sellers starting at $548, but the lower figure may reflect a different seller or condition, so compare the exact listing rather than relying on the starting price.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Carrier-locked prepaid model
The $729 Walmart Straight Talk version is not an equivalent unlocked bargain. It is locked to Straight Talk and requires a Straight Talk plan for activation. Include the plan’s monthly payments and any unlocking requirements in your calculation. This option makes sense mainly for someone who wants Straight Talk service and accepts the lock.
New, open-box and refurbished stock
Best Buy listed a $829.99 unlocked 128GB model, while indicating that new availability may be unavailable and showing open-box or refurbished alternatives. A lower open-box price can be attractive, but confirm whether the phone is sold by the retailer or a marketplace seller, what warranty applies and how returns work. “Restored,” “refurbished,” “open-box” and “used” describe different inspection and support standards; do not treat them as interchangeable.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
How Apple Trade In changes the effective price
Apple offers Trade In online and in Apple Stores. When you buy an iPhone with monthly payments, an estimated trade-in credit can be applied directly to the purchase. A September 9, 2026 report placed the maximum iPhone 16 Plus trade-in value at $430, down from a previously reported $485. That $430 figure is a dated ceiling, not a guaranteed offer: Apple adjusts the estimate according to the phone model and condition.
- Get Apple’s current estimate for the exact device you plan to surrender.
- Check whether the estimate is conditional on inspection and whether damage, battery condition or missing parts changes it.
- Subtract the confirmed credit from the purchase price, then add tax, activation and any financing cost.
- Compare that effective total with an unlocked restored or resale phone, including the value of the warranty and return policy.
A decision checklist before you buy
- Verify the live price: Prices can change between a comparison result and checkout.
- Confirm storage: The cited prices are for 128GB; larger capacities cost more.
- Check lock status: An unlocked phone can move between compatible carriers, while the Straight Talk listing is carrier-limited.
- Calculate total cost: Add sales tax, shipping, activation, financing and required plan payments.
- Inspect condition: Ask about battery health, cosmetic grading, replacement parts and included accessories.
- Read warranty and returns: A low price is less useful if the seller offers a short return period or limited support.
- Confirm compatibility: Check that the model works with your carrier’s network before ordering.
What today’s price spread means
The market now spans a wide range because listings combine different sellers, conditions and network commitments. A $589 comparison price may be the lowest headline number, but a verified unlocked phone around $629–$638 can be easier to use and evaluate. The $729 Straight Talk model trades carrier flexibility for a prepaid purchase, while the $829.99 Best Buy listing represents a higher-priced unlocked route whose new-stock availability needs confirmation.

If you are buying used or restored, direct the savings toward a seller with clear grading, returns and warranty coverage. The right deal is the lowest total cost for the condition and carrier freedom you actually need, not simply the lowest number in a search result.
